tonight at the scene. rob what do we know? the suspect had a gun, explosives and chemicals used to manufacture explosives inside this home on humboldt avenue, less than a block from santa clara high school. the front lawn, where some of those chemicals were blown up by the bomb squad, is now littered with blast- shielding sandbags as a hazardous materials team found still more suspicious materials inside the home as the search continued throughout the day. the contraband was discovered when a chp swat

at six -- a developing story --police say they did not intentionally burn down a cabin where former los angeles police officer christopher dorner barricaded himself. standing by with the latest he leaves behind a wife and two young children. the other deputy dorner's accused of shooting multiple times is expected to fully recover, but has gone through a couple different surgeries, and has more surgeries to go. meanwhile, we're getting our first look look at the dramatic gun battle that led up to the burning of the cabin in which dorner was

believed to be hiding. this is exclusive video shot by a cbs news reporter. in the lower left-hand portion of the screen you can see a law enfocement just miniutes ago.an emotional san bernardino sheriff reflected on the chaotic gun battle that claimed the life of one of his men. >> the rounds kept coming but the deputies did not give up. they are highly trained, dependable, and i am proud to be a member of this department. >> reporter:dorner was reportedly hiding out in a cabin that was directly across the street from a sheriff's department staging area.almost right udner their noses. the sheriff says law enforcement did not intentionally start the fire in the cabin. there is some audio from outside that cabin that seems to contradict that. earlier today dorner's license was reportedly found in the charred remnants of the cabin. still no official word it was dorner. d-n-a and dental records

condeleeza rice has just entered the home. also, we will hear from more protesters. j. r. stone, kron 4 news. >> pam: new at six. for the first time in history -- the amgen bicycle tour of california will begin south and take cyclists up north. kron4's charles clifford takes a closer look at the bay area portion of the route. >> reporter:the 2013 tour of california has 8 stages. the race starts in southern california and the last three stages take place here in the bay area. let's look at google earth map of those three routes. stage 6, which is actually a time trial, begins here... north of morgan hill on the morning of friday may 17th. from the startline riders will venture out into the country side passing by the cinnabar golf course and chesbro reservoir. then they turn back north and finish this 20 mile leg with a climb up metacalf road. on saturday morning, stage 7 starts in livermore.

bikers will pedal north into the sprawling hills of east contra costa county. then they turn east towards the small town of byron before looping back south towards livermore. then, they face what may be the most challenging climb of the entire tour. to finish this 92 mile stage, riders will make their way up mt diablo road to the 3800 foot summit of mt diablo. finally, stage 8, the final leg of the tour, begins in san francisco on the morning of sunday may 19th. the golden gate bridge will be temporarily closed down as riders head north across the bridge. from there, the race turns west towards the coast. riders then head up highway one through stinson beach and marin county. then the they turn east into the sonoma for a sprint to the finish in downtown santa rosa. stage 8 is the may 19th, the same as bay to breakers. we can expect traffic delays on that weekend. clifford kron 4 news. >> jacqueline: we did see
