(male announcer) this is the bay area news station, kron 4 news starts now. >> catherine: a developing story we're following. police in vallejo surround and storm a home after a man is dumping rain on the bay five. ended in vallejo, with a suspected gunman shot dead. this is video from our helicopter partnership with abc7 news. you can see the house where up. kron4's j-r stone has been on the scene as this all tonight. j-r what do we know? >> reporter: this is still in a clean-up of mode, with yellow police tape. we can see the swat team and as we go to the left, or the right, we can seek the house. there were flash bangs when we arrive. >> it was quiet for a long

time and date fired a couple of more shots. the swat team ran over the fence and through some type of explosive in there. it was a big boom. it scared the crap out of me!. a lot of heavy stuff going on helicopters have been flying in even one landed in our back yard. >> reporter: she was describing the scene as to what happened. they received a call at around 11:a 30 with a man pointing a rifle at neighbors. he went inside a house and they spoke with him back and forth. he was hostile they said that he threatened to murder/assault and officer. we did to the shotgun from inside out side and gunfire erupted. as to weather or

vehicle right there. it is going to jump the curb and watched this fence it is going to plow right over that! and as you can see it is approaching the front porch area. takes it down the shrubs and onto the steps of the front porch where they knew that suspect had barricaded himself. keep your eyes right there you are going to see a pole that take down this privacy lattice fence they wanted to get that down. to make sure that the suspect did not have a good review. also swat team members are on rooftops around buildings. this is a dramatic situation certainly not something that you see every day and of vallejo in this residential neighborhood.

>> reporter: the 35th annual carnaval is scheduled for may 25th and 26th so there are just two months to get everything in order. in san francisco justine waldman kron 4 news. fs >> catherine: a man accused of stealing a yacht in sausalito earlier this month will now be evaluated to see if he's mentally fit to stand trial. the suspect -- leslie gardner. the 82-foot yacht was found when it ran aground near linda mar beach in pacifica. sausalito police got a call from the yacht's owner who recognized the boat while watching news coverage of the incident. gardner has pleaded not guilty to grand theft, receiving stolen property and vandalism. a hearing on his mental evaluation is scheduled for april 30th. >> one man is dead in antioch.and right now police are searching for the shooter. and it happened just off the campus of an elementary school. this is near highway 4 and g street.

we'll fly you in on the big board for a closer look at the area. a 20-year-old man was fatally shot at the intersection of william reed drive and west madill street. you see how close that is to marsh elementary school. despite the proximity of the murder scene to the school.marsh elementary was not placed on lock down. the shooting was at 12:22 this afternoon. the victim's name has not been released. police do not have any suspects. this was antioch's second murder of the year. >> catherine: an early morning 2-alarm fire on bethel island has destroyed two homes and damaged a third. kron 4's charles clifford has details. >> reporter: bethel island sits in the sacramento-san joaquin river delta.. here.. just to the northeast of

antioch. around 2:15am wednesday morning, a fire broke out in 1400 block of taylor road, which runs along the island's southern edge. this is the one story home where the fire started. no one was there at the time and we understand that the blaze may have been triggered by some sort of electrical problem. now after the fires started, the flames spread to this two story building to the west. two residents were evacuated from this home, one person had minor injuries.. and the building was seriously damaged. also flames caused minor damage to this two story home on the other side of where the fire started. now this is video we took early this morning, on the left here is what's left of the home where the fire started. it's been complelety destroyed. to the right is the two story home that was heavily damaged. we also understand that at some point powerlines may have fallen onto this home forcing firefighters to fight the blaze from a distance. now one other problem here is that there are no fire hydrants along taylor road. fire crews had to use tanker trucks and pump water

from the nearby slew to put out the flames. crews battled this blaze for almost four hours. in the newsroom, charles clifford kron 4 news. >> catherine: pot holes are causing major problems in an east bay neighborhood. and some of them are big. take a look at the size of this one. while the potholes can be a big problem for cars --- kron 4's haaziq madyun says the danger can be even greater for bicyclists. >> "it is, it's really bad" >> reporter: huge pot holes like this in oakland's rockridge districtrepresent a major hazard for bicyclist like anne berge >> "i'm not biking because of the pot holes because it's too dangerous" >> reporter: she says 63rd street is one of the most dangerous when it comes to these big holes in the ground >> "everyday i come down this streetand i know where they arethere is one right there"

oakland -- 4.06. those prices down about 5- cents from a week ago. >> the pleasanton preschool, where a teacher was accused of duct-taping a student who refused to take a nap, has now re-opened.. kron4's will tran was at centerpoint christian school this morning. premises is video this event was so shocking that it was the school debt imposed a four day shutdown of some of the teachers can go through an intensive three note session. they brought in experts. this three day session -- 40 session. earlier, these parents and teachers got together and were exchanging photographs of cellphones. and one of the parents have recognized the two year-old it that it was their own child. the police department and then got involved. we spoke with a parent this morning this

off and tripped. they say he also say he tried to dump drugs in the back of the police cruiser. >> a california man charged with killing his girlfriend in hawaii in 20-11 -- is getting a new attorney. gerald galaway jr. is accused of killing celestial cassman -- who was an attorney in santa cruz. a judge in hawaii has granted his request after the public defender's office said the attorney- client relationship was beyond repair. cassman had arrived in maui with galaway the day before her body was found under a tree. and autopsy shows she was strangled. galaway says he felt confused when he entered a no contest plea to a reduced charge of manslaughter and kidnapping. and wants to withdraw the pleas. . >> kern county deputies are looking for 83 year old nicholas tutino. he was last seen tuesday -- just before 12:30 in the afternoon from his danville home. the c-h-p says tutino may be driving a gray 2006 toyota camry.

a federal lawsuit filed this week by sheldon stephens, claims kevin clash threw a crystal meth sex party for a teenage boy in 2004.
