identified them as genaro fernandez of norwalk, raudel fernandez-avila and belen fernandez, both of lynwood and leonardo fernandez-avila and 13-year-old angela sandoval both of los angeles. police say the driver jean soriano rear ended the van carrying the family inside on interstate 15- about 80 miles away from las vegas. three other family members are recovering from their injuries. soriano was arrested and charged with driving under the influence. looks like san francisco and los angeles have another thing to battle about beside sports. the city leaders here in san francisco boast that the 4-point-2 billion dollar 1,070-foot-tall transbay transit tower set to be built by 2017-- will be the tallest building on the west coast. but a tower in los angeles is poised to stretch about 30 feet higher. korean air is planning an ambitious hotel and office tower in downtown los angeles that will rise one- thousand- 100 feet that is also set to open in 2017. a transbay spokesperson said a "superstructure" of some kind will be added to the transbay tower that will likely bring it above one- thousand- 100 feet. march madness next.

police arrive. one woman says she had a close call with the driver. >> "he almost ran me over and some guy picked my bike up and hit the back of his car and he was going inside the car, i mean inside the front door, i mean he was in there to hurt people you know, and i know a lot of people got hurt, and then i just grabbed my bike and took off across the street you know. i didn't want -- he was in there to hurt people." the man has been arrested but his name hasn't been released. a man slams his car trough the front door of a busy that suspect then starts beating customers with a wal-mart on story road in rates shows us how terrifying this was for both beating customers!!! the employees holding him the bad guy down until witnesses say before the suspect went on a rampage inside the store, he was driving wildly in theone walmart employee was taken to the hospital in serous condition, 3 other people went treated well. police in san francisco are investigating a shooting that happened on a muni bus. it happened last night around 10 on mission and valencia streets. two victims were shot. a female was shot in the

stomach while the man was shot in the leg while on the muni number 14 bus. both victims were taken to s-f general hospital with non-life threatening injuries. police say the shooting happened as the result of an argument. no suspects have been arrested. also in san francisco, five people are in police custody following the shooting of another victim. police say this incident happened around mansell and bowdoin. the victim is being identified as a 24-year-old male who had to undergo surgery due to life threatening injuries. no information on the suspects have been released as police continue their investigation into this shooting. in other news. oakland police are investigating a string of separate shootings over the weekend that leaves three men dead. the latest happened a little after eight on the corner of 70th avenue and hawley street. this follows a shooting that happened shortly after four on the 89-hundred block of international boulevard. the first shooting happened around ten yesterday morning on the 24-hundred block of 68th street. when police arrived they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. he was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. no arrests have been made in any of the shootings. and there is no further information at this time. it was a scary scene for some drivers on i-80

yesterday as a bus crash ignites a blaze in vallejo. you can see here a tour bus burning on eastbound interstate-80. firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire. but not before it spread to nearby trees and an apartment complex. authorities say the fire was up to 80 feet high. the driver of the bus was able to escape the vehicle without harm.and no one else was hurt in the incident. starting today three bay area counties marin, san mateo, and santa clara will implement county wide sales tax increases. the sales tax in marin is going up to 8-point- five from 8-point0-two-five san mateo county tax will now be nine-percent up from 8-point-5-percent and santa clara will now by 8-point-seven-five. 20 cities across the bay area and nearby, from sacramento to campbell are having their sales tax raised. on our states website ca dot gov you can see a breakdown of what cities are raising their sales tax. these small percentage sales tax increases for most purchases will just mean a few pennies. but it adds up when making

bigger purchases. for example on a $1,000 refrigerator purchased in san mateo county with the new tax rate will add an extra $5 in sales tax. and a for a $25,000 vehicle it would add an additional $125 in tax. regular season baseball officially kicks off tonight for bay area baseball teams. the oakland a's are set to take on the seattle mariners tonight at the o-dot-co coliseum at 7:05. meanwhile, the san francisco giants start their season away. they will play the l-a dodgers today at 1:10 at dodger stadium. the giants will be facing the st. louis cardinals for their home opener at a-t-t park on friday. we are following baseball this morning as the regular season gets underway for both the giants and the athlethics today.

>> taking a look at wall street this morning. futures trading shows all three indexes in the negative this morning. after the long holiday weekend investors will be anxious to see if the stock market can reach another milestone. as it did on thursday. the s-and-p closed at a record high, beating the mark it set back in october 2007. it rose six points thursday to close at 1,569. it's all-time high record is at 1,576. we'll be watching the stock market all morning long here on the kron four morning news starting at 6:30 with the opening bell.

>> the high-tech companies in silicon valley are trying to make the workplace more fun and exciting. at apple's planned "spaceship headquarters," there will be a world-class auditorium, and an orchard for engineers to wander in. >> facebook is putting final touches on a disney- inspired campus including a main street with a barbecue shack, a sushi house and a bike shop. it's part of an effort to encourage employees to come into the office, instead of working at home. the ceo of yahoo, marissa mayer, has already gone so far as to ban telecommuting. this week facebook is expected to unveil it's widely rumored smart phone. insiders have speculated that facebook will partner with htc to release a smart phone running a highly customized version of google's android operating system. the phone is expected to have 4.3 inch screen and front and rear cameras. 16 gigabytes of storage and plenty of built-in facebook features. an announcement is expected thursday. this is not the first time facebook has teamed with htc on a facebook phone. their first attempt in 2011 with the chacha and salsa phones was considered a failure, and sales were consequently discontinued after a few months.

>> for baseball's opening day-- louisville slugger has a new bat with a new logo. the 129-year-old baseball bat maker is hoping the new, harder bat combined with a more modern louisville slugger logo will let the family-owned company stay relevant in the sporting good supply market and ahead of their competitors in luring younger ballplayers to its products. the new logo is the first such change since 1980. the new bats are made from a high-grade wood and are the biggest change to the bats in 41 years. we will take a break. this is the oakland coliseum there will be a home opener.

>> in antioch, a seven-year- old boy is recovering this morning after being shot in the backyard of a home during a family barbeque. police say the boy was hit by a singly bullet when a gunman opened fire on the

gathering from a nearby overpass a little after four on saturday afternoon. authorities say the boy is expected to be okay and they don't believe he was the intended target. so far, no suspects have been arrested. >> three people were attacked with a knife during a fight at a large party in rohnert park saturday night, police said today. police said they were first called to the party at 7652 bonita ave. just before midnight on saturday, after callers reported that more than 100 people were there. when officers arrived on the scene, the residents had successfully cleared out most of the party-goers. the residents did not mention any fight or injuries to police. around 2 hours later, however, police received a call from the kaiser emergency room in santa rosa reporting that a male patient had a possible knife wound to an extremity, and that the wound had occurred at a party in rohnert park's "b" section, police said. a second victim was reported at a contra costa county emergency room a short time later, and around 4 a.m., one of the residents of the house where the party occurred also was reported at kaiser's santa rosa emergency

room, police said. the resident had wounds to his hands that appeared to be from a knife. when interviewed by police, he said he did not know the suspect and had not invited him to the police are working to assaults. >> a san pablo woman suffered severe burns early this morning when she re-entered a burning home to rescue a pet cat, fire officials said today. the fire was first reported at a residence at 2960 12th street at about 2 a.m., according to the contra costa county fire protection district. arriving firefighters reported seeing heavy smoke and fire showing throughout the one-story home, officials said. three people were initially able to escape without being injured, but before firefighters arrived, a woman went back inside to try to rescue two pets, officials said. the woman suffered severe burns and was taken to doctors medical center. she was later transferred to saint francis hospital burn center in san francisco, officials said. firefighters were able to retrieve one cat, but a second died of smoke inhalation, officials the fire was controlled in about 15 minutes and did not spread to neighboring structures. the blaze, which caused an estimated $200,000 in damage, was likely ignited by an unattended candle in a bedroom, according to fire vandals strike a high school track team in san ramon. destroying close to ten thousand dollars worth of equipment. mid-season. the track team at california high school in san ramon returned to their practice facility to find this-- their high jump pads completely destroyed. with a month and half remaining in the track season. the team is now turning to their competitors for help. the track team's coach says
