tonight -- why he's here, and the protests awaiting him. then -- we will bring you air force one's arrival. i'm pam moore. the news at five is next. developing right now. president barack obama on his way to the bay area. it is the first visit since his re-election. he will be attending two high- brow private fundraisers in san francisco. at this hour -- air force one is about 20- minutes away from arriving at s-f-o. kron 4's terisa estacio is live there tonight. awaiting the president -- she has more on the presidential visit. terisa? >> reporter: he will be attening a $20,ooo per

plate at the home of the goden gecko and grant lodes is here now to give us a closer look at exactly where the president is headed later this evening.grant? from s-f-o. mister obama will head north to san francisco. chances are his motorcade will go north on 101.then wind its way through the city. the administration never reveals the exact route. but we know the president has a fund-raiser in sea- cliff. streets are blocked off at 28th avenue and mclaren. tom steyer will host a reception in this area. after that.mister obama will will head west.just about 3 miles to pacific heights. he will attend a dinner at the getty mansion on broadway near baker. we have reporters stationed at both of these locations.and we'll have live reports coming up in about 10 minutes. and our live coverage awaiting the arrival of air force one. is continuing right now on our 24-7 bay area news channel. that's on comcast 193, and streaming on our webstie -- kron4.com. we will also bring it to you live right here on kron 4-- once the presidents plane

>> north korean leader kim jong=un ratcheting up his threats against the u=s. his army announcing today it has final approval to launch "merciless" military strikes on the united states, including the possible use of "cutting- edge" nuclear weapons. the word came just hours after the pentagon unveiled plans to deploy anti=missile defenses on the pacific island of guam. despite its string of successful missile tests, pentagon analysts do not believe north korea has the technology to launch a nuclear attack on the u=s. but defense secretary chuck hagel says the u=s cannot afford to take chances. >> we take those threats seriously. we have to take those threats seriously >> this is the latest counter=move: truck mounted interceptor missiles are being moved to guam. they will supplement larger defense missiles based in alaska and hawaii. both systems are designed to home in on warheads in the upper atmosphere. according to the army's

he is a brother to us. >> reporter: in san jose rob fladeboe kron 4 news >> pam: this is paramedic quinn boyer's blue honda. as it was pulled from a ravine off keller avenue in the oakland hills on tuesday afternoon. moments before his car plunged over the side, police say, boyer was shot in the head as he approached the intersection in what may have been an attempted robbery. as of news time, oakland police have released no new information on any possible suspects in the case. again, quinn boyer remains in critical condition, as his family and friends pray for his recovery. >> catherine: authorities in texas are turning the state upside down - looking for leads in the murder of a county's top prosecutor and his wife. kaufman county d-a mike mclelland and his wife were shot and killed over the weekend. now - 56-year-old nick morale has been arrested for making a threatening phone call. he's accused of calling a tip line.and naming a county official as the next victim.

he's being held on a million dollars bond -- but investigators don't think he has anything to do with the murders. >> disgraced college baskebtall coach mike rice.fired today after a damaging video emerged. it was all filmed on the practice court at rutgers university - a public school in new jersey. it shows coach rice abusing his players - both verball and physically. homophobic slurs. grabbing and shoving his players. throwing basketballs at their feet, legs.and shoulders. espn aired this video yesterday.and coach mike rice was fired less than 24 hours later. >> we have let so many people down my players. my

>> catherine: tocolorado lawmakers recently voted to expand background checks for gun buyers and ban ammunition magazines that can carry more than 15 rounds. the connecticut senate has approved wide-ranging gun control legislation today. it's in response to last year's shooting massacre at assess the grade school in newtownleft 20 first-graders and 6the measures include a ban on the sale of large- capacity ammunition magazines. it also bans 100 weapons that had previously been legal. the bill now goes to the house - where it's also expected to pass. >> catherine the just mentioned that some of the activity the president has been involved with today on his political plate. in addition to fund-raisers
