>> we are having some problems with her microphone but first,new this morning. san jose police are investigating the city's 11th homicide of the year. there was a shooting near kelley park overnight. now, police are looking for suspects. kron four's mike pelton >> good morning >> reporter: i'm on the corner of center and burke. many people that you see all have been questioned by police they were attending a party and the police were asking if they had seen or heard anything. as i put the

camera down the street, there are still officers investigating this homicide. this business park is for this happened. more people sitting on the curb. let me show you video from earlier. this, is a warehouse that prince out their business to allowing events like this to happen. authorities responded just before 3:00 a.m. and a man was suffering from a gunshot wound. he later died from his injuries on the scene before he reached the hospital. authorities are still looking for information but they have not release any information. if the party at the warehouse was involved. we're hoping to speak with the lieutenant. as they

continue to process the crime scene. mike pelton, kron 4 news. >> also new this morning. one man is dead and another man is fighting for his life after a shooting last night in oakland. this is new video from the scene near the mills college campus at seminary avenue and macarthur boulevard. the shooting happened around 10:15 p-m. three people were injured. one of the victims was found a few blocks from the scene shortly after the shooting. the others were found on site. police say they have no one in custody and are still trying to determine the motive. >> the oakland police department could be facing a possible lawsuit. after shooting a 16 year old earlier this week. whose lawyer said committed no crime. it all started when a restaurant worker reported being attacked and robbed by three male suspects. when police arrived at the scene, three teens happened to be on a corner near the attack. o-p-d says. an officer perceived a threat from one of the teens and he opened fire once. grazing one of

the teens in the jaw. >> there were three african- american males. that it needs to change where they opened fire immediately. any move that takes place, they shoot. >> the teen will be okay. but the family's attorney john burris said the teen and his family are disturbed and distraught. as of right now no lawsuit has been filed. >> san francisco police are looking for two men suspected of stabbing and robbing a group of tourists last night. it happened in the south of market neighborhood, near the americania hotel on seventh street around 11 p- m. the suspects stabbed two men from southern california, and beat a woman for their i-phones. police describe the suspects as two hispanic men in their 20s or 30s. who took off in a blue or gray ford explorer after the attack with three others in the car. an ohio labor dispute is taking its toll on several

san mateo county cities. customers of allied waste service were forced to drop off their own trash after their garbage sat on the curb for a couple of days. garbage workers were responding to an ongoing allied waste garbage strike in youngstown, ohio. this action affected about 26-thousand customers in daly city, colma and half moon bay. some customers say this wasn't too much of an inconvenience but they hope there will not be any long term effect on trash pick- up here. >> i know it is way out of state. we would have felt better if we knew exactly why he the delay in yesterday and today. there was not enough information even the we saw some on the news last night >> allied waste says commercial pick-up will resume on monday and residential services on thursday. for daly city customers who cannot wait for regular pick-up, they can take their trash down to the allied waste facility before noon today.

and for residents of half moon bay.they can drop your trash off at the ox mountain landfill also before noon and the garbage problem extends to the east bay. in fremont allied waste trash and recycling bins also went unserviced. you can see the trash is already piling up. that's not sitting well with some customers. most will have to wait for their next regularly scheduled pick-up day. on the up side, those customers can put out as much trash as they want next time, at no extra charge. as compensation for the inconvenience. the same goes for all other affected cities. >> it's big weekend for the world series champions the san francisco giants. and it looks like catcher buster posey will add another trophy to his collection. the giants will present posey with his national league m-v-p trophy during today's pregame ceremony. veteran pitcher barry zito lead the world series champs to a home opener victory in friday's game by beating the cardinals one to nothing. giants fans packed at a-t

>> berkeley police are asking for help finding a man suspected of pistol- whipping a high school student during a robbery. they've just released these surveillance photos of the after the attack. it happened near the berkeley tech academy on march 13. police say the suspect beat the student before running off with his wallet. he's described as an african-american man in his 20s, betweet 5 foot 10 and 6 feet tall. anyone with information about him is urged to contact authorities. >> oakland police continue the investigtion into the

shooting death of a south bay paramedic. he was shot in the oakland hills earlier this week. 34 year old quinn boyer. was off duty when he was shot. boyer had just visited his father. >> there are things that we are considering. we are looking for video of the area of and other video around the neighborhood. the lab work has not come in and on the car so there are still things that we are working on of course, somebody knows what happened and we need to that person to come forward. homicide investigators are piecing together what happened before the shooting. authorities say, they need boyer's killer. crime stoppers is offering a 10-thousand dollar reward for information leading to the arrest in this case

temperatures will be in the 60s a light jacket. and your kron 4 7 day around the bay take a look at wednesday. the highs will be in the low 80s. >> chevron says it has finished repairs at an area of its richmond refinery that was damaged last year in a fire. this is video from that august fire. the fire and explosion sent a towering plume of black smoke into the air. thousands of nearby residents complained of respiratory issues after the blaze. state regulators fined chevron nearly one- million dollars. they say chevron did not follow the advice of its own scientists' to replace the old, corroded pipe that failed and caused the fire. >> hiring nationwide slowed sharply in march, with the economy adding just 88- thousand jobs. that's the lowest monthly gain since last june. it is also a drop of more than 100- thousand jobs compared to march of 2012. the labor department's monthly jobs report finds, the unemployment rate

dropped to 7-point- 6- percent. the agency is also reporting. nearly 500- thousand people stopped looking for jobs last month. >> it is going to be difficult to get abortion in kansas. york federal district judge ruled that the morning after pill must be made available for purchase over the counter. lawmakers in kansas have passed sweeping anti- abortion legislation. the kansas bill declares life begins at "fertilization". the bill blocks tax breaks for abortion providers and also prohibits them from participation in public school sex ed classes. pro choice advocates say the legislation lessens acess to abortion services. kansas governor sam brownback is expected to sign the bill into law. more now on a federal judge's ruling that will soon allow women of all ages to buy the morning after pill over the counter, without a prescription. right now. girls under age 17 need a prescription. but that's about to change. the judge says, there is no reason not to make the safe and effective drug.

available to all ages. birth control advocacy groups are happy. saying this may help bring down teen pregnancy rates. however - social conservatives argue the ruling could put the health of young girls at risk. since it eliminates the involvement of parents and medical professionals. there's still a chance the ruling will be appealed. if not - the drug could be available to all in about a month. >> the u-s confirms what many had already suspected. that north korea has a pair of missiles ready for launch. the obama administration says, north korea has launched test missiles before, and would not be surprised if it did so again. but as kron 4's pam moore reports, many wonder whether north korea can back up its threats. >> video of a military exercise are adding to the tensions in asia. they're upping the rhetoric to mercilessly strike its enemy. possibly with a mo nuclear attack. and they

loaded to the missiles on to launchers. the we are urging them to stop. the white house is warning today that a north korean missile launch may be imminent. nobody is taking any chances in this subway station where there are gas masks. >> i think that if this pmixture of these mixture of speaking in a softer tone but perhaps carrying a bigger stick. so far - there's no sign that the launch will be anything other than a peaceful test. but the north koreans are doing their best to keep everyone on edge. this is the most powerful missile in north korea's arsenal. at least on paper. the musu=dan was first unveiled at a military parade three years ago and has never been tested. now two of them have been east coast. north korea may be making preparations to launch a missile. we are monitoring we would not be surprised to action.

the cardinals one giants fat and t park as they cel awaited flying manhole covers near bush and stockton did some damage but luckily injured no one. the incident occurred friday morning having something to do with a seperating power cable. those flying saucers of cast iron, weighing at least 250 pounds a piece, took the bumper off of a rental car. as a result streets near bush and stockton were closed for several hours. the explosion also left 21- hundred north beach and chinatown customers without power. service was restored later in the day ♪

shooting in the south bay overnight. marking san jose's 11th homicide of the year. it happened near kelley park just before three o clock. kron four's mike pelton joins us live in san jose. a memorial concert will be >> there have been a lot of officers for processing the crime scene >> reporter: this happened in this parking lot of this business complex at the time of the shooting their room many people in this area. anybody who have seen or possibly heard anything of is asked to come forward. many people were being questioned by police. they were attending an overnight power party. they found a man that was lying in the parking lot suffering from of least one gunshot wound.

be held tonight for the victims of the oikos university shooting. monday was the anniversary of the shooting. where seven people were killed and three others wounded. the suspect, former student one goh, is accused of coming on to campus and opening fire. he then fled in one of the victims cars. and was arrested in alameda a short time later. goh has been deemed incompetent to stand trial. and remains in a mental hospital. tonight's concert is at 7 o clock at st. paul's episcopal church in oakland. funeral services today for a 19 year old college student who was gunned down just outside his family's home in san francisco's mission district. jacob valdiviezo was visiting his family last saturday. he was on break from lewis and clark university in oregon. he was a wide receiver on the football team at the college. police say the gunman walked up to valdiviezo, asked if he was a gang member, and before jacob got to answer, was shot and killed. police continue to search for any suspects. a mass and funeral service for jacob will be held at

one o clock this afternoon at st. peter's church in san francisco. >> after four years on the job. the superintendent of the oakland unified school district is resigning. superintendent tony smith announced his resignation thursday for personal reasons. he told the board he plans to move his family to chicago to be near his sick father-in-law. prior to becoming the oakland schools boss, he served as deputy superintendent of san francisco public schools. the school board is set to consider his resignation this week. but smith says his last day on the job will be june 30th. >> ride sharing apps are very popular in san francisco and other cities, but they are not welcome at s-f-o. the airport sent 'cease and desist' letters. to several of the companies which organize rides for strangers. but, as kron four's jeff bush explains, at least one company is digging in its heels and says it will not comply. >> reporter: life in the modern world allows perfect strangers to connect and the ones with cars are giving those without cars a

ridesometimes, that ride might be to the airport. san francisco international doesn't like the idea and says each driver needs to pay the proper fees and get a permit to be on airport property. this cease and desist letter went out to lyft, sidecar, instacab and several other ride sharing apps last month. but, instacab says they will not stop offering rides to the aiport. >> if a taxi is not available, we match people a community ride share driver and just like you would get a ride from your neighbor, this is somebody who will give you a ride wherever you need to go. sfo officials don't see it that way. the airport says that ride sharing is the same as a taxi and permits are needed to regulate traffic. the airport says if ride sharing drivers are caught on airport property, they could be subject to tresspassing charges. what remains to be seen is how the airport would enforce the policy. lyft drivers all have pink mustaches on the front of their cars but most ride sharing companies don't have such distingusishing marks on their cars.

the teens in the jaw. >> three african-american males with the assumption that they have guns on them and that needs to change. and any move that takes place, they shoot. >> the teen will be okay. but the family's attorney john burris said the teen and his family are disturbed and distraught. as of right now no lawsuit has been filed. >> san francisco police are looking for two men suspected of stabbing and robbing a group of tourists last night. it happened in the south of market neighborhood, near the americania hotel on seventh street around 11 p- m. the suspects stabbed two men from southern california, and beat a woman for their i-phones. police describe the suspects as two hispanic men in their 20s or 30s. who took off in a blue or gray ford explorer after the attack with three others in the car.

an ohio labor dispute is taking its toll on several san mateo county cities. customers of allied waste service were forced to drop of after their garbage sat on the curb for a couple of days. garbage workers were responding to an ongoing allied waste garbage strike in youngstown, ohio. this action affected about 26-thousand customers in daly city, colma and half moon bay. some customers say this wasn't too much of an inconvenience but they hope there will not be any long term effect on trash pick-up here. >> i know that it is way up of state. if we knew exactly why about the delay today and today. even though we saw some on the news last night. >> allied waste says commercial pick-up will resume on monday and residential services on thursday. for daly city customers who cannot wait for regular pick-up, they can take their trash down to the allied waste facility before noon today. and for residents of half

>> berkeley police are asking for help finding a man suspected of pistol- whipping a high school student during a robbery. they've just released these surveillance photos of the suspect getting onto a bus after the attack. it happened near the berkeley tech academy on march 13. police say the suspect beat the student before running off with his wallet. he's described as an african-american man in his 20s, betweet 5 foot 10 and 6 feet tall. anyone with information about him is urged to contact authorities. if >> chevron says it has finished repairs at an area of its richmond refinery that was damaged last year in a fire. this is video from that august fire. the fire and explosion sent a towering plume of black

just one day after a new york federal district judge ruled that the morning after pill must be made available for purchase over the counter. lawmakers in kansas have passed sweeping anti-abortion legislation. the kansas bill declares life begins at "fertilization". the bill blocks tax breaks for abortion providers and also prohibits them from participation in public school sex ed classes. pro choice advocates say the legislation lessens acess to abortion services. kansas governor sam brownback is expected to sign the bill into law. more now on a federal judge's ruling that will soon allow women of all ages to buy the morning after pill over the counter, without a prescription. right now. girls under age 17 need a prescription. but that's about to change. the judge says, there is no reason not to make the safe and effective drug. available to all ages. birth control advocacy groups are happy. saying this may help bring down

teen pregnancy rates. however - social conservatives argue the ruling could put the health of young girls at risk. since it eliminates the involvement of parents and medical professionals. there's still a chance the ruling will be appealed. if not - the drug could be available to all in about a month. the u-s confirms what many had already suspected. that north korea has a pair of missiles ready for launch. the obama administration says, north korea has launched test missiles before, and would not be surprised if it did so again. but could any of the missiles reach u-s territorykron four's charles clifford has a closer look. >> reporter: it's believed that north korea has six long range lee missles, that may or may not be able to deliver a nuclear weapon. 4 of those missiles are operational and the other two are still in development. let's useth to loow far each one can travel. this is north korea.. here's the capital of pyongyang. it's not clear exactly where each missle is being kept and some of the weapons are mobile, so the distances i mention here... are

now, the north has several short range missiles. one can fly about 186 miles and another a little 300 miles. these two weapons can reach nearly all of south korea. the north also has an operational missle with a range of about 800 miles, that means it could reach most of japan. beyond that the north has tested a ballistic missle that is believed to have a range of 1500 miles and they have another operational missle with a range of 1800 miles. both of these weapons, in theory, could reach guam, which is a u.s. territory. that leaves one long range ballistic missle in the north's arsenal. the question becomes could that missle reach the u.s. well in 2006, north korea test fired a taepodong2 missle which failed about 30 seconds after launch but it's believed an operational version of this weapon could travel more than 4 thousand miles. at that distance, north korea could, in theory, target the states of hawaii and alaska as well as western canada. but that missle is not believed to be able to reach the mainland united states. here in the bay area, san francisco is about 55 hundred miles away f rom north korea. hopefully, well out of range. in the newsroom, charles

on the job will be june 30th. >> ride sharing apps are very popular in san francisco and other cities, but they are not welcome at s-f-o. the airport sent 'cease and desist' letters. to several of the companies which organize rides for strangers. but, as kron four's jeff bush explains, at least one company is digging in its heels and says it will not comply. >> reporter: life in the modern world allows perfect strangers to connect and the ones with cars are giving those without cars a ridesometimes, that ride might be to the airport. san francisco international doesn't like the idea and says each driver needs to pay the proper fees and get a permit to be on airport property. this cease and desist letter went out to lyft, sidecar, instacab and several other ride sharing apps last month. but, instacab says they will not stop offering rides to the airport. if a taxi is not available, we match people a community ride share driver and just like you would get a ride from your neighbor, this is
