> we now know that the fbi is investigating the hacking. the fall-out from the fake let's take a closer look at the tweet. that set off this frenzy. still off-line. curtis is the mississippi suspect. curtis is an elvis empersonator who says he's been arrested multiple times in the past decade and has never been convicted. meanwhile, investigators are now focusing on this man.j-everett dutschke.searching his mississippi home today. this comes as another suspicious substance - possibly more ricin - was found at a military mail sorting facility in

washingon d-c. it was discovered during routine mail screening and is being tested to determine exactly what it is. >> catherine: we're learning more from the surviving suspect in the boston marathon bombing. 19-year-old jo-har sar-nie- ev's condition - now upgraded from serious to fair. he's reportedly indicating more about a motive. with sources saying the iraq and afghanistan wars were brother as the mastermind. saying they were both motivated by extremist islamic beliefs.and watched online videos. new photos have emerged from the police shoot-out that left one brother dead. one shows the suspects hiding behind a car.taken by a neighbor - from his bedroom window. another shows the car speeding down the street after jo-har had jumped in. leaving behind his older brother. this is believed to be the

brother on the ground -- after police had taken tamerlin down. officers jumped aside - but jo-har ran over his brother.which may be what killed him. the man who took the pictures narrowly missed being shot himself. with bullets going through his wall - and a chair. the wife of the suspect who died is still a focus. this is katherine sar-nie- ev leaving her rhode island home with her lawyer. she's claimed that she knew nothing about the bombing plot. and was 'shocked' to hear about the charges against her husband and brother-in- law. she married tamerlin in 20- 10 and they have a young daughter. another relative claiming shock - the mother of the two brothers. >> they're being killed just because they were muslims. nothing else. >> my sons are innocent and i love them and i want the whole world to hear about it. >> catherine:

but don't tell that to this man. a gas station manager who says he saw the two brothers when they stopped to fill up their tank last week. that's when a car-jacking victim came inside - screaming for help. and the manager came face to face with the suspects. >> and after maybe 30 seconds i called the police. >> catherine: the family of the youngest victim of the bombing says a private funeral was held today for 8-year-old martin richard. there will be a public memorial in the coming weeks. also today - a privatesean coll- the police officer from m- i-t killed by the suspects. a memorial service will be held wednesday - and vice- president joe biden is expected to attend.

on boston's boylston street.doors opened to employees for the first time since the bombing. the city -- looking less like a crime scene. and we learned that a total of 264 people got hospital treatment after the bombings. also - a lot of money has been raised for bombing victims. a special fund overseen by the mayor has raised 20- million dollars. >> discovered a suspicious package in the parking lot next to the refineries. immediately notified richmond police. several bomb squads were called then. the suspicious package is not in an operating area of the refinery. that was of the good news. again, the richmond police have determined that this package

is not a bomb. >> pam: right now panhandling, sleeping on the sidewalk and other types of similar certain cities throughout california. but new legislation aims to makekron 4's dan kerman is here now with details on the homeless "bill of rights" >> this homeless bill of rights is the brainchild of san francisco assemblyman tom ammiano who says current law tend to lead to the criminalization of homeless people. this legislation allows every homeless person to move freely, rest, and solicit donations without being subject to criminal or civil sanctions, harassment or arrest by law enforcement. >> dan kerman: it requires cities to provide health and hygiene centers with bathrooms and

evidence or the issue the city has long been struggling with. exhibit a.is this man zonked out.under a blanket. in the middle of the day.despite the sit lie ordinance prohibitting sitting or lying on the sidewalk.between 7am and 11 pm that was passed in 2010. just a short distance i found this hypodermic needle sitting out in plain site in planter box.around the corner on franklin street.this doorway which was from the stains on the stoop and the lingering smell i am deducing that it's been used regularly as a urinal.and it gets worse just a few steps away.for decency's sake i didn't zoom in to this alcove of which there is evidence of what appears to be human waste.nat pot two blocks away from my starting point i found this man excercizing his freedom of speech to an audience of none..while sitting on the side walk.in front of a business.all of this.within.and because it's on public property.he would be well within his rights news.

today apple posted its second quarter earnings and gave hints about new products. they put up some big numbers for the second quarter. they had a total revenue of 43=piont=6 billion dollars. selling 37=point=4 million i=phones. and 19=point=5 million i=pads. they met wall streets expectations but their over all sales are down 18% from the last quarter.

'60s and '70s for thursday. they will stay there friday, but we will start warming slightly into the weekend.

next at 5. the twitter account of the associated press.hacked. the false post prompting panic.and even caused the stock market to plunge. what was said.and who may have written it. plus, a local lawmaker wants a new bill of rights.for the state's homeless. what is being proposed.next at 5. right now on kron4. a major news outlet appears to report an explosion at the white house. but it turned out to be a hoax -- how it happened. then -- another posionous letter intercepted before reaching a high profile target. and now investigators are rethinking a recent arrest. i'm pam moore. the news at five is next. hackers have compromised the main twitter account of a majoe associated press sent out an erroneous tweet about an attack at the white house. it briefly sent shockwaves through much of the country. kron 4's justine waldman is here with. with the latest on this developing story. we now know that the fbi is investigating the hacking. the fall-out from the fake tweet was felt immediately. let's take a closer look at the tweet. that set off this frenzy. the tweet says. "breaking: two explosions in the white house and barack obama is injured." it went out at just after 10 this morning, west coast time. and you can see. it was retweeted at leat 14- hunred times. minutes later. the ap sent out a statement saying the tweet was fake. but the damage was done. the dow dropped about 150 points. you can see the dip there.where the arrow is pointing. the false report wiped out 136-billion dollars fr the preside was just wit ts twee get owned by the syrian owned byhey behindn previoc and c-b-

out this man i've found crashed out on the sidewalk in an alley. around the corner i found another man slumped over, passed out with a bottle of whiskey in his lap. and another nearby alley, i saw these three men sitting down. but earlier when i walked by them, one was openly shooting up drugs. this man was the eighth person i saw either sitting or lying on the sidewalk in just a short half-hour walk. maureen kelly, kron4 news. >> >> pam: the governor of nevada is responding saying that his state is not in the habit of patient dumping but admitting to up one instance in it. >> >> the governor of nevada is responding with a

statement and only a statement saying in early march it came to my attention and at least one instance, discharge policies were not followed. disciplinary actions have been taken and a corrective plan of action has been put into place at ross and killed. finally the governor says, i'm confident the new discharge policies in place, ross and milk will continue to treat patients with dignity and a high standard of care. basically, we have the governor admitted to at least one case. this is a case of a man who was shipped from a mental facility in nevada to sacramento and given three days of medical attention. >> they're not specific address in those cases, but we do know that the governor in the past, has said that

one out to 1.2 million twitter followers. that ap sent out sand tweet was fake but by then the damage was done. the dow dropped 150 points. it took just minutes for this impact to happen. and minutes to rebound once the white house confirmed that the president was not hurt and there were no explosions. it was through a twitter account that a group called the syrian electronic army took credit for the attacks on twitter posting this tweet. as of now, that a peace twitter accounts are suspended all day they have been off line. >> pam: following the marathon by manes, things in boston are beginning to get back to normal but there's still plenty of questions being asked by the fbi and they're getting at least some answers from the

the los angeles police department got his way around and now they are paying the price. innocent women - shot at more than 100 times by los angeles police - are now 4.2 million dollars richer. that's how much the l-a-p-d just agreed to pay the women who were mistakenly shot at during the manhunt for disgruntled ex-cop christopher dorner back in february. they were delivering newspapers in this truck. 71-year-old emma hernandez was shot twice in the back. her 47 year old daughter was injured by broken glass. officers say they thought dorner was driving the pick- up truck in torrance. the 4.2 million is in addition to a 40-thousand dollar settlement reached earlier for the loss of the victim's pickup truck. it's still unclear who, if anyone will receive the one million dollar reward that was being offered in this
