2008 beofre this weekend, when it turned up missing. san francisco's central subway project is getting ready for it's next big step.drilling tunnels deep below downtown. here's a photo of one of the two drills that will do the work. boring two holes.more than a mile and a half from south of market to north beach. the machines are as long as on it's side. the drills are arriving in pieces and will be lowered below ground. they'll be assembled in a hole 40 feet down.and are expected to be ready to begin digging in june. the project director says the drilling is expected to have little impact on the people who live and work above the surface.
