next on kron4 news. details on the three people right now on kron4. wildfires sparked by hot, we'll show you where fires are burning in the bay area. and three more arrests just announced today in the boston terror bombings. how investigators say friends of the bombers i'm pam moore. the news at five is next. we'll start with the silverado fire in napa. the fire started near silverado trail near oakville cross road. here's video from the napa.courtesy of our abc-7 news. 60 percent contained. 75 acres have burned. 1 building suffered damage. no one has been hurt.

now to the yellow fire in sonoma county. this is just east of healdsburg.started around 1:20 this morning near near highway 128 in knights valley. we have aerials from this it's 50 percent damaged. hurt. tonight. at the scene of what's being called - the yellow fire. i'm here in the weather center with jacqueline she's tracking the extreme fire danger around the bay one place vulnerable to fire dry vegetation there right to home owners, and has more on what you can do to firefighters are battling a fast-moving wildfire. riverside county. more than 400 firefighters are trying to gain control and evacuations are underway

>> pam >> pam >> catherine:three new arrests in the boston bombing case. all of them knew the two brothers suspected in the they're charged with helping the bombings. knowing that their friends were responsible. ahz'-maht tuh-zaye'-uh-kov and dye'-us kad-uhr-bye-ev, from kazakhstan and american citizen robel phillipos were fellow

students at umass=dartmouth with bombing suspect jokar tsarnaev. they told federal investigators they were all close friends. philipos is charged with lying to federal investigators. the two kazakhs are charged with covering up evidence in the case, they have been held for more than a week on charges they violated their student visas. all were in court today in boston. the two foreign students did not ask for bail. one of their lawyers says his client had no idea jokar was behind the bombing he is just as shocked and horrified by the violence in boston that took place as the rest of the community is. he did not now that this individual was involved in the bombing. the federal indictments tell a very different story. kron four's grant lodes has a closer look. fireworks tubes emptied of gunpowder. investigators combing through this landfill in new bedford found them in a backpack, inside a black garbage bag. the backpack also held a college homework assignment for a class in which surviving bombing jokar tsarnaev was enrolled.

that was one week ago. today, the fbi complaint detailed exactly how it got there. along with admissions by all three suspects that they knowingly tried to conceal evidence. sfx here is a timeline of what the three people arrested today told investigators. boom april 18th, three days after the bombing, the fbi releases these surveillance photos of the suspects. dye'-us kad-uhr-bye-ev , one of the three people indicted today, texts his friend jokar and tells him he looks like one of the suspects. jokar texts him back, saying among other things "l=o=l" and other things he interprets as jokes. he also says, "i'm about to leave. come to my room and take whatever you want." at about six=thirty in the evening, kad-uhr-bye-ev and his friends ahz'-maht tuh- zaye'-uh-kov and robel philipos go to jokar's dorm room. jokar is not there, but his roommate lets them in, the three watch a movie, and then notice the backpack with the empty fireworks tubes. kad-uhr-bye-ev and tuh- zaye'-uh-kov told the fbi they realized then that their friend was involved in the bombing.

they take the backpack and jokar's laptop back to their apartment in new bedford. by this time the news is filled with images of the shootout in watertown. the three watch t=v until early morning. at 6 a=m april 19th, new reports identify jokar and his brother tamerlane as suspects and report that tamerlane is dead. kad-uhr-bye-ev then puts the backpack in a garbage bag and places it in the trash. that afternoon tuh-zaye'- uh-kov observes a garbage truck take the trash away. >> the to force suspects to see here admitted their roles. after weeks of interrogation, the last suspect had and it did he lied--admitted he lied.

>> pam:it has now been four days since an 8 year old central valley girl was stabbed to death. the killer is still on the loose. those with the calaveras the f-b-i is reviewing the case. kron 4's j.r. stone is following the story and has new details. now a little perspective on the kidnapping attempt j-r mentioned in placerville. >> reporter: investigators tell us today they are also looking to see if labels case could be linked to that in oakland. --layla's case.

>> we have collected a few nice to see if one of those was a used. > in calaveras county, j.r. stone, kron 4 news. that's about 50 miles from the valley springs location where 8-yr old lay-la fowler was murdered on saturday. investigators have collected dna samples from the 44- year-old kidnapping suspect in placerville. officials say it's a long- shot the two incidents are related.the suspect descriptions are different.but they're exploring the possibility of a connection just in case.

>> pam:new details in the case of a murdered silicon valley millionaire. a judge ruled. two children fathered by ravi kumra, with one of his former prostitutes, have a valid claim on his estate. a judge says, theris clear evidence that the 2 girls were kumra's children. and awarded them each 18-hundred dollars a month. this is video from our helicopter partnership with a-b-c 7 news. kumra was killed five - months ago in his mansion. after robbers broke in. bound and gagged him, and ran off with his valuables. a long and at times tense morning for employees of an office building this morning in san jose. the bomb squad was called in after a suspicious package was discovered at the sobrato center for non- profits on parkmoor avenue. police said a disturbing note was attached to the the building was evacuated while the bomb squad, using a robot and other undisclosed means, determined their was no bomb. but police would not elaborate on exactly

what was in the package or whether it may have been a prank. no one was hurt. the evacuation order was lifted about 12:30 and employees allowed to return to work. >> catherine: bolts. we now know what led federal prosecutors to charge james investigation. a dust mask may link the mississippi man to the poisoned letters sent to various officials, including president obama. f-b-i agents say they saw dusky remove things from his martial arts studio - and dump them in the trash. a dust mask tested positive for ricin. the information was in an 8- page affidavit. it also says that dusky ordered castor bean seeds -- which are used in making ricin. agents also found information how how to safely handle ricin on his computer. it has been warm today just as we expected. as we head

impacted because it is hot, breezy and dry out there this afternoon. a heat advisory has been issued for most of the bay area for tomorrow. all of course bay and east bay and south bay and even the coastline because temperatures will warm up dramatically into tomorrow afternoon. tomorrow morning, '60s and '70s to start the day. quickly getting into '80s by 10:00 in the morning. into new hour, filling in some nineties. that's the red uc you're on your screen. we may hit our coastal high temperatures at 10 or 11:00 in the morning and seabury's will kick back again. down in south bay, widespread 90. 92 in redwood city, 95 in campbell. we will set more records tomorrow on shore.

off highway 4.totaling about an acre. firefighters several fire stations in the east contra costa county fire protection district were called out to san jose firefighters knocked down a small but stubborn vegetation fire san jose. the smokey, wind- whipped blaze burned a little over an acre just east of highway 87 near willow avenue before it was brought under control. no structures were threatened but the smoke drifted across the freeway snarling traffic for a time. six engines were dispatched to the scene as firefighters had to negotiate several fences and a steep creek bed to access the fire. no word on what sparked the fire. >> catherine:the face of a pretty teenager who lived in the 16-hundreds. still ahead.why her remains are telling a chilling story about some of early colonists. jackson said faried kicked his foot out.called it blatant.

well under way. the speakers are enthusiastically addressing this crowd. it has been going on for about an hour now. it started with a march. hear some videos that we shot just a while ago and you can see about 2000 people marched from the mission district of san francisco through the st. of the civic center. when they arrived, they found themselves in front of the city hall. they're speaking of labor laws and protest right. >> everyone has the right to be here. this crowd is very pumped up. they're enthusiastic about mayday and they're hoping to get some labor

political leaders are asking workers to do something they have not done since cuba's revolution -- which is to pay taxes. economic reforms mean that thousands of people no longer work for the state - but for themselves. and workers in greece are demanding higher wages and better benefits. also safer working conditions. this year - the rally doesn't stand out as much as usual, since greece has been the scene of many strikes and protests - because of government austerity measures. turnout was also somewhat lower than usual because orthodox easter is coming up. >> pam:facebook just reported their first quarter earnings and the numbers show that they are slowing

the f-b-i is involved in the investigation. from valley springs. >> reporter: the area where the little girl was killed has been closed off. canines were brought and sighed and outside. officers are looking to see if her killing could have been related to one or two other cases. one in placerville or one in oakland. fingerprints and a few knives. they're not sure if those lines for use in this case. they have interviewed sex offenders and parolees in the area. >> they have all been located and interviewed. some research. right now we do not believe any of them are suspects. they have been-as they have not been named as suspects.

the family is staying out of the county. there stone, kron4 news. >> pam: a new report from the sacramento bee suggests. bad bolts are not the *only problem with the new eastern span of the bay bridge. now word that the tower 'welds' are flawed. and are in the process of repair. the newspaper says, it has confirmed, the california department of transportation is working with contractors. to fix problems found on parts of twenty welds. the report says, the process has been underway for months. the welds are necessary for the tower to remain standing under a major earthquake. and the labor day weekend opening of the new span of the bridge. is in jeopardy. some of that is due to the broken bolts. the rest -- with the defective welds. officials say, the welds can be repaired by removing the defects. they say, a plan will be announced one week from today.

today is may day. spring, it's also been a daythe bay area labor community whole thing. jeff -- what were the protests about? a sea of people flooded the streets as they marched in solidarity. some we spoke to say immigrants make significant contributions to this country, and comprehensive immigration reform is a must. people from all races and socio economic backgrounds rallied from our lady of guadalupe church to city hall, as part of international workers day to honor all workers. a huge focus was on immigration

firehouse 54 reopened at 8am wednesday morning. . which today raced out to this small fire burning off a levy off highway 4 in discovery bay.the new squad was first on the scene. which helped get the fire out quickly. the chief says having these extra hands are coming on board at a crucial time. bite the brentwood fire station was one of three that closed down 10 months ago after voters rejected a proposed parcel tax. but then the east contra costa fire district got a nearly 8 million dollar grant from fema.which paid for the 10 new firefighters for the brentwood station house. but how long these firefighters will have jobs is up in the air.because the grant money runs out in novemeber 2014and the distict is still looking a way to keep the firehouses open permanentley. bite >> is a short-term fix, but

has a huge amount of debt. the amount, though, might really floor you.. the combined debt of state and local governments here in california is at least 848 billion dollars. and if a new report is correct, it could go even higher --- to one-point-one trillion. the california public policy center based its findings on reports from the state controller and treasurer. a lot of the debt comes from general obligation bonds -- which are usually for public works. but pension liabilites are also a big cost. the report says an interest adjustment could add 200 billion dollars to the state debt. the eternal flame dedicated to president john f. kennedy at arlington national cemetery is getting a face lift. so what's there now is only a temporary flame. the original one is going to run on a more modern and energy-efficient system, making it easier to maintain. the upgrades to the burner are expected to take about three weeks. hillary clinton was an indirect author of the affordable care act --and a
