firefighters and homeowners in ventura county are hoping cool and calm weather will weaken the fire burning since thursday. the fire has burned 28- thousand acres in two days and threatens 4-thousand homes. nearly 2-thousand firefighters are battling the blaze that is now justfull containment is expected by tomorrow.but as cristina potential weather change could be a mixed blessing. >> more than 2000 firefighters have, put out the claim fires there. >> the springs fire is burning.

to 28-thousand acres. contained and firefighters expect to get full containment by tomorrow. these are pictures of theit has destroyed fifteen homes and 45 othermore than two- thousand fire crews from here in thethe cause of the fire is under investigation. homeless this morning after flames burned their san ramon home. it started around 3-30 spread to the house next door. firefighters tackled the blaze for more than three hours. flames quickly spread up the walls and into the attics of two neighboring homes. the homeowner here was in his back yard watering flowers. when he realized the house was on fire. >"wasn't anything flammable" the fire chief says the blaze started in a car port.

the house on the right sustained severe damage. the owners of the house on the left are away on vacation. but neighbors have no one was injured and the cause of the fire is being investigated. the estimated amount of damage to each home has not yet been determined. police are still searching for the killer of an eight- year-old girl in calaveras county. investigators canvassed the valley springs area knocking on more than 300 hundred doors in hopes of finding witnesses or refreshing the memories of potential witnesses. >>"in our investigation" fowler had been stabbed to death inside her home last saturday. the closest eye witness -- her 12 year old brother who said he saw a stranger leave their home before finding his sister's body. hwever, detectives still haven't crafted a sketch of fowler's killer. deputies say they have also collected several knives that are now being examined.

good news for a san jose woman critically injured when a car crached into her home. her friends say she is out of the intensive care unit. and for the second weekend in a row. a 12-year-old girl is selling lemonade to raise funds for 40-year-old ping chen, and her 9-year-old daughter lily chen. the fundraiser was held in front of the ping's home saturday afternoon. corlista davison's sister goes to school with lily chen. she says lily has a broken arm, but is back at school. chen''s mother ping is expected to stay in the hospital for about eight more weeks. but davison says her condition is improving. >> where i here sunday from noon to 5 and we just have car size and have people to come by stop and. we chose this location because people come to look at the house

limosine killed five women. four others are injured. and treated for smoke inhalation. this is video from our helicopter partnership with abc-7 news. this happened at around 10- pm on the westbound lanes of the san mateo bridge. the c-h-p says the driver of the limo noticed the flames coming from the back of the limo. he stopped the car and got out. all of the passengers were women in their 30s. they were going from alameda to foster city -- but police say it's not known where they were going. the cause of the fire is being investigated. the driver of the limo was not injured. this is a developing story and we will update you throughout this morning's newscast. a union city community still is in shock after an elementary school teacher is arrested on disturbing molestation charges. latest on the investigation. >> parents and teachers at alvarado school in union city are dealing with the arrest of elementary teacher michael howey charged with

eight counts of child molestation. he is accused of kissing and inappropriatly touching several young students. kron four talked with a teacher and a parent at the to speak on camera. the instructor's concern was the safety of her students. the parent in this car had a child in howey's classroom. she came to the school hoping to find out how the teacher could have committed such acts with a teachers aide in the classroom she left without answers. in addition to alavarado elementary howe taught kindergarten for two years at union city's cabello elementary. he was arrested at his home in this gated complex on wednesday. micheal howey told arresting officers he had been suspended from alvarado for being inappropriate with a student. he then asked for lawyer. in union city jeff pierce kron four news. >>a small theater company

in san jose is about 5- thousand dollars lighter after being hit by thieves. there you can see the damage. early last saturday morning, burglars broke through several doors, and crawled through small spaces to burglarize "city lights theater company.' the computer, which operates the sound and video system was stolen. a few i-phones were taken as were boxes of cash donations locked in drawers. thousand dollars in losses. >> what we think happened is that these came in here to the fare property and went up the stairs to our control both. we on this beautiful i mac desktop that ran all of our sound far shows. thankfully they did not still that piece of equipment. >"would have been devastating"

this is a developing story and we will have later on this story. at kron 4 news. >> in elementary school teacher was arrested this morning. >> p parents and teachers at alvarado school in union city are dealing with the arrest of elementary teacher michael howey charged with eight counts of child molestation. he is accused of kissing and inappropriatly touching several young students. kron four talked with a teacher and a parent at the school today, both declined to speak on camera. the instructor's concern was the safety of her students. the parent in this car had a child in howey's classroom. she came to the school hoping to find out how the teacher could have committed such acts with a teachers aide in the classroom she left without answers. in addition to alavarado elementary howe taught kindergarten for two years at union city's cabello elementary. he was arrested at his home in this gated complex on wednesday.

in custody. a new state law gives more power to bart police. it park allows bart officers to ban riders who commit certain types of crimes on their property. kron4's maureen kelly reports it goes into effect tomorrow. >> >>we've had assaults we've had physical violence, verbal violence, threats of killing, dog bites station agents and other bart employees taken a lot of grief over the years.and before this new law.bart police would have to work with district attorneys in the four different counties get stay away orders issued for offenders.here is a book currently banned.for acts of crimes.but that process could take months and in some cases the criminals.if come back. the new law will allow bart prohibition orders.in some cases before waiting for a conviction. this will help us move faster. bart police chief kenton rainey says the new law doesn't just help keep their employees safe.but riders as well. because it could be used
