afternoon. good morning george >> good morning as we continue to track a hot spot freak area. no major delays along the toll plaza except in the left cash lanes. your quick commute shows heavy traffic for the east. mark more on this developing story we have been falling out of oakland. a fatal shooting overnight. here's the location for the shooting on melrose avenue. the bullets hitting that fire station three blocks away on the 50th ave. will >> mark i'm in front of the fire station and you concede this is where the bullet exited. they have knocked out of the glass and put garbage bags down there. the bullet came from the back of the fire station clean

through here. here's a pitcher they sent to us and you can see the shattered glass. this all happened around 9:00 last night. i talked to a fire fighter and get this, he tells me that the firefighters had just returned from a water main col. they were just getting ready to off load their fire engine went that shot went through. they instantly dubbed. when the bullet went through, it passed across the street and ultimately, into a house. the firefighter told me that when they knew they were clear, they looked at each other and asked are you ok? fortunately none of them were hurt. that bullet went from the back through the front and it went into this building right across the street. fortunately, the drivers who went through here they were not hit. the firefighters are always doing their job. they did not exit or leave the drive to go check on the hell of gunfire. possibly 52 shots

were fired. an ambulance came to the scene and attended to the victim. the victim was taken to hospital but ultimately was pronounced dead at the hospital. had nothing to do with this fire station but they're still very much rattled by what happened. they never went out there to check on it themselves and the reason why according to the firefighters is that they cannot go out there because it was not a fire. they cannot go there unless the fire department of the police department secure the scene. out of more information on this incredible story coming up at 630. >> a popular restaurant in oakland is closed this morning because of a fire that happened while you're sleeping. it happened arunta 45 in the morning. kron4's mike pelton is live on the scene and firefighters are still there. but one of mike >> a very popular bakery and

restaurant in the community. you can't tell much from the outside that's because the fire was inside the kitchen and the back of the restaurant. take a look, the kitchen is partially destroyed. according to tell me the fire broke out around to 45 this morning. when they arrived they found a fire and flames on the first and second floors of the building. nothing at this point looks suspicious to the fire investigator but they're here working to determine the cause. cruse tell me black smoke is evident of plastic or petroleum based products. >> i saw a lot of smoke for like five minutes. five minutes ago, i saw flames coming from the window.

>> this is a very popular restaurant but you'll be able to get breakfast here this morning in the county health official said the damage is so extensive inside that the owner will not be able to open a restaurant for a potentially couple of days. >> the new video that you have in the daylight. it does look like there's a lot of damage. a good thing bakers, and early and no one was in there at that time. >> very fortunate. a witness tells me he was very fearful that people were inside. fortunately, that was not the case. you can see that video there is a lot of damage. but thanks a lot like. authorities have released the names of all five women killed in that limousine fire that happen saturday on the san mateo bridge. here's their photographs .

one of the surviving victims says she tried to get the limo driver to stop a car as the fire broke out, but she said the driver did finally get out of the car after they stopped, but did not do anything to help. she said that goes against what the driver said he did. he said he did help one of the victim's out of the car.

we are following the late latest with the bolt on the news that of the bay bridge. there'll be another meeting today at 930. kron4's jackie sizzle is live from treasure island with the latest, good morning jacki. >> a third of the ones that were put an end to thousand eight were found to be bad and snapped. we all discovered this about a month ago. since then, it has been a scramble to see if there's going to be a fix that could possibly put the bay bridge back on a scheduled to open on labor day weekend and whether or not that is going to happen. we're hoping to find some answers today at this oversight committee at 930.

about a month ago, that is when they discovered about one-third of 96 boats, some as odd a 17 ft. long had snapped when they started to tighten. since then, it has been a mad dash to try to figure out if there is fixed in this and what can be done. today they are expected to hear from that oversight committee and talk about potential fixes for that. also james, more bolts were put and 2010 and those tests came back and apparently there has been no compromise of those polled since then. we had a chance to talk to the bay bridge spokesperson yesterday and he described those bolts. >> all other additional rods and " we have been looking at and given additional test and none have shown any failure. >> the other big question is if the bridge is safe and well it opened on labor day weekend. we're hoping to get

a resurgent house housing market rising home values and a steady job gains are helping more u.s. homeowners stay on top of their mortgage payments. credit reporting agency trans union said that the percentage of mortgage holders at least two months behind on their payments fell on an annual basis by 21% in the first quarter. the sharp annual decline in the mortgage delinquency rate represents the biggest quarterly drop on record for trans union, whose data go back to 1992. >> the republican controlled house is set to approve a bill allowing workers to trade their overtime pay for more time off. the measure would allow employees to work more than 40 hours a week to set up their armed time off for use weeks or months later. gop lawmakers say it gives workers at

returned from a water main break. they parked their fire engine and were about to get off when all of a sudden they heard the hail of gunfire and that bullet went through. they don't. as soon as it was over, the act together, are you ok? the bullet went cleanly through the fire station and went across the street. we will show you. it went into this building across the street on the second floor. that window, there's a bullet hole. no one inside that building was hard. i can tell you, they're still looking for the suspect or suspects involved and all of this. the shot came from three blocks away. the fire department had nothing to do with this but they say they're still looking for whoever did this. as far as the motive, the department has not yet told us. the fire department also doing their job. when i heard about this, called an ambulance and the ambulance came to the scene. i ask the fire department did they come out to assist the

scene. they said they could not simply because it is not in their protocol to go out there until the oakland police department secures the scene. had this been a fire, of course they would have ran out but because it was a gun fire involved, they did not go out to assist in that particular situation. we will get a live interview with the chief coming up a 7:00. i can tell you it came within inches of hitting the firefighter. he is still rattled this morning. >> mike pelton has the update on that bakery fire. mike? >> the smoke was coming from

the back kitchen. let me show you some of the video that we got just a short time ago. you can see inside that kitchen is partially destroyed. fire crews tell me they found a black smoke coming from the building when they arrived here this morning. they found fire and flames on the first and second floor of the restaurant. fire investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire, but crews tell me that black smoke is evidence of some sort of plastic or petroleum based products that are burning inside. as a come back out your life, you concede this cake in the window. you will be able to get any cakes today. in oakland county health official says the damage is so extensive, it will not be able to open up and operate today or for quite some time. a few boards have arrived. some employees told

out. it is a visual hazard so it is backing up the traffic. owners of the single interchange.tracking thes associated with this incident in the water. when one northbound in the overnight hours just after midnight, a car was reported off the runway and into the bay just off candlestick point. it was decided that they would try to get the vehicle out of the water. they have shut the right lane of 11 northbound down. it is accounting for about a six minute delay. you do not have to worry about a detour just yet. they hope to have that right lane reopen in the next half hour or so. this may or may not be a lingering problem. a quick look at your bridges. your

yesterday in san bernardino state park. the men were hiking on a mt. san giorgi orgonio-the tallest peak in the southern california when they got lost trying to avoid an icy slope. they spent four days and three nights in nearly freezing temperatures. , wearing shorts and white clothing. the hikers use the body to stay warm. the men were training for a mission trip through their church and the area had experienced some rain and snow flurries. temperatures around the 20s, so that was a rough situation. >> a local state senator is on edge after news that a plastic gun is not only on
