authorities say her brother reported seeing an intruder leaving the home before finding his sister suffering from *multiple stab wounds. he even gave police a description of that intruder. this set off a manhunt throughout the community. multiple agencies interviewed registered sex offenders in the area, chased down leads, looked in storage sheds and attics to try and find the killer. but the sherrif says - they ultimately did not have to look far and wide.they believe it's her own brother who committed the crime. the sheriff did not take announcement last night. so this morning we do not know where lay-la's brother is being held or of any potential motive in the crime. >> it was our commitment to make sure that we did a thorough job as possible. authorities did not formally identify the brother, and because of his age we are not either. but on this morning.mother's

day. lay-la fowler's family is coping not only with the loss of their 8-year-old daughter. but also with the news it came - allegedly - at the hands of her older brother. live in the newsroom, mike pelton, kron 4 an update now on a story we first brought to you yesterday. in which officers shot and killed an antioch man late friday night. authorities are *still investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting. it happened near buchanon and barcelona circle around 9 p.m. police were serving a search warrant on a suspected drug dealer. they say the suspect got into a pickup truck driven by another man. and it rammed into an occupied police car. then, the suspect got out and tried to run away. that's when he was shot by officers who say they worried about their safety. neighbors identified the suspect as 21-year-old charles burns. the truck driver, another 21-year-old man, was also arrested.

still no sign of a missing 15-year-old fremont girl. margarita chavez was first reported missing from her uncle's home in fremont last sunday. police say she may be traveling with 30-year-old ryan griggs in a stolen pickup truck. the stolen truck is a white ford f-150 with a white camper shell and raised suspension. at this time, police do not believe she was abducted but left voluntarily with griggs. chavez is described as hispanic. nearly five feet tall with brown hair and eyes. griggs is caucasian. standing six feet two inches with blond hair and blue eyes. giants fans may soon be facing a picket line when they attend games at a-t & t park. on saturday, by a overwhelming 500 to 16 vote, concession stand workers at the ball park authorized a 5- day strike. the union says workers have been without a contract for three years. and their last pay raise was in 2009. workers are asking for wage increases.

the f-b-i took nail guns and boards to seal up this seymour avenue home saturday, after collecting evidence earlier in the week. its an abandoned building next door to the house where ariel castro is accused of holding three women and a child captive for some 10 years. neighbors are still in shock. "i never saw anything, any kind of activity that made me really think that something was going on out of the ordinary." after barely a week of freedom, amanda berry, gina dejesus, and michelle knight can now begin their road to recovery. but there are still questions of how this could've happened. some have even questioned why the women didn't escape sooner. kidnapping survivor colleen stan says, unless you've been through it - you wouldn't understand it. and it's a shocker. authoritees announcing yesterday that the murder suspect is the victims 12 year old brother. kron4's mike pelton has been following this story and is in the newsroom with the a 15-day search for the killer, that involved more than a dozen agencies and two-thousand hours of work, leads investigators back to where it all began. arresting leila fowler's 12- year-old brother. who now faces homicide charges. leila fowler - the 8 year- old described as having a bubbly personality - was home alone with her brother back on april 27th. authorities say her brother reported seeing an intruder leaving the home before finding his sister suffering from *multiple stab wounds. he even gave police a description of a white or hispanic male. this set off a manhunt throughout the community. multiple agencies interviewed registered sex offenders in the area, chased down leads, looked in storage sheds and attics to try and find the killer. and last night those who love and care for leila fowler heard the terrible news - that authorities believe committed the crime
