>> low fifties in the east bay shores. >> 77 degrees expected today in antioch. >> mid-60's in oakland. >> plenty of sunshine and little bit breezy in santa rosa. >> mid-60's in downtown san francisco. >> new this morning. the two left lanes on highway 580 in livermore remain closed this morning. a hit and run accident involving a c-h-p car sends an officer to the hospital. the accident happened just before one this morning on westbound highway 580 just before airway boulevard. a truck crashed into sand barrels, knocking the barrels into the two left lanes,

law enforcement officers throughout contra costa county will be cracking down on drunk drivers over the memorial day weekend. as part of the "avoid the 25", the anti-d-u-i task force will have countywide checkpoints to arrest any drunk drivers. sheriff deputies set up a checkpoint san pablo on friday. they say checkpoints will be in concord today and in oakley on sunday. police urge people making plans for weekend trips and parties to use a designated sober driver to prevent arrests or accidents. return to index of stories... police in livermore are investigating the latest in a series of thefts taking place in high- end retail stores. it happened around 4:30 thursday afternoon. livermore police say a group of ten people went into the true religion store in the paragon outlet mall. several members of the group distracted employees while others grabbed thousands of dollars in merchandise. about 40 pairs of pants were stolen in a matter of seconds. the thieves managed to escape in a waiting car. true religion jeans are popular and are not cheap, running at about 321 dollars a pair. the thieves stole about five- thousand dollars worth of merchandise. police say this is not the first time this group has swarmed a store. they were very sophisticated. they knew

exactly what to do. they've hit other true religion stores in gilroy, milpitis, walnut creek. a day after the swarming, the store had a security store. police say the group was not violent but the employees who were inside were shaken up by the brazen theft in broad daylight. the mall has also added more security guards and have area. a former east bay coach is charges. police say 51-year-old barron edwards is charged with 21 counts of sodomy with a child under 10 years old and 2 counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a victim under 14 years old. edwards was the kennedy high school varsity football coach in richmond in 2004- 2005. it' is unknown how many involved. edwards is currently being held at the martinez detention facility. he bail is set at more than 21-million dollars. a surveillance video shows the exact moment when a washington state bridge collapsed after being struck by an 18-wheeler thursday night. investigators are now trying to figure out what caused the collapse that sent vehicles tumbling into the ska-git river. martha shade has the latest investigation. a terrifying sight a bridge

>> five days after a deadly tornado tore through moore, oklahoma. there is more help on the way. fema announces a series of aid programs for tornado disaster victims. they can apply for everything from help with their rent and medical costs to home repairs. and oklahoma's governor signed a bill yesterday that will provide 45- million dollars for relief. monday's tornado killed 24 people and damaged thousands of homes. nike plans to donate one million-dollars worth of its products to tornado victims in oklahoma. the shoe company says it's also working with oklahoma city thunder's kevin durant to donate profits from

sales of his k-d five elites. the funds will come from sales of the shoes earned on nike-dot-com between may 23rd and june 15th. the money will go to a charity that rebuilds playgrounds and the city of overshadowed in the face of disaster, a community in oklahoma tries to rebuild. these pictures show some of the storm damage in little axe, oklahoma. it's a community about 20 miles east of moore. it too was devastated by an e-f-5 tornado. and many people in little axe feel as if they've been forgotten. residents here say it hasn't been easy to get volunteers to help with the storm cleanup in little axe. >> "the first two days made me angry and scared and upset." "it felt like we were the forgotten ones. a lot of people didn't even know there was a tornado here, once the tornado hit in

the controversy continues over the morning after pill. and at what age it should be yesterday, government lawyers asked a federal appeals court to delay lifting age restrictions and prescription requirements. the move is an effort to delay implementation of a judge's april ruling.

in last months decision a judge lifted all restrictions on the contraception meaning anyone at any age could buy it without a prescription. next tuesday a federal court of appeals will begin considering whether to allow the judge's ruling to take effect immediately or delay it while further appeals are pending. lawyers for a group of women and parents say that any further delay in access to the medication would harm "countless" women. a las vegas psychiatric hospital accused of shipping off its patients to california cities, including san francisco, will keep its federal funding. this decision comes despite the hospital not meeting some of the government's requirements. the rawson- neal hospital came under scrutiny for its discharge procedures. in one case, a mental patient was put on a bus to california, where no services were set up for him. a corrective plan was submitted and approved. now the government will make surprise visits to make sure the hospital is meeting all requirements. however the federal action has no impact on the

investigation underway by san francisco's city attorney against the hospital for illegal patient dumping. california could soon treat electronic cigarettes like any other tobacco product. a bill was approved by the state senate yesterday. it would impose the same limits which apply to all other smokers, such as where the devices can be used. health organizations support the bill. but the electronic cigarette industry group objects saying that there is no proof the product emits secondhand smoke. assembly. >> as check out the weather forecast for the memorial weekend holiday. >> let's take a live look outside from our camera you can see plenty of sunshine. we are waking up to cloudy skies elsewhere. >> 43 in apple appeared 45

would be a little cheaper here but it is not appeared >"but its not" americans are paying about the same price for gas as they did during this time last year. let's take a look at gas prices around the bay area. the average price for a gallon of gas in san francisco is 4-13 in san jose -- it cost 4-0-5 for a gallon of gas on average. and 4-0-4 in oakland. this memorial day weekend people across the country are remembering those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for their country. carry the load national relay is an organization honoring fallen service members. and in their honor the organization is walking two-thousand miles in 27 days to raise money for families of the fallen veterans. they also want to remind people about the true meaning of the holiday. >> i am here for my son. my son tom was in the united states marine corps.

seventies in antioch. upper 60s and oakland. >> and to the north bay plenty of sunshine. >> 744 novado appeared '60s for downtown san francisco. >> a san francisco state university basketball player was arrested in redwood city for the murder of an atlanta based rapper. police say decensae white, an s-f- state senior was wanted in connection with the murder of 19-year-old melvin vernell. vernell a rap artist known as lil phat. he was shot at a parking garage in atlanta back on june 7th, 2012. witnesses told police they heard shots and saw at least one person running from the area. white is set to appear in court at the end of the month he transferred to s-f-s-u last fall from santa clara university where he played basketball during the 2008- 09 season. a palo alto man accused of

killing 4 people in the czech republic is under arrest in washington d-c. 20-year-old kevin dahlgren was arrested thursday night. he had just flown in from he is suspected of murdering his czech aunt, her husband and their two sons. their bodies were discovered late wednesday in the family home. police said czech authorities will seek his extradition to stand trial in the czech republic. santa cruz detectives get more than expected when serving a search warrant to a man accused of planning an elaborate plot of grand theft. the search warrant was part of an ongoing investigation on suspect nicholas yukich. yukich is thought to be the mastermind behind a plan to rob a santa cruz business. while serving a search warrant detectives uncovered 48 firearms and over 50- thousand rounds of ammunition, some of it believed illegal in california. yukich is being held in the santa cruz county jail on a charge of conspiracy to commit grand theft.

no charges will be filed against a woman accused of placing rubbing alcohol into bottles of orange juice at a starbucks in san jose. police arrested the woman last month on suspicion of attempted murder. however test results now show that the liquid involved was vinegar and not alcohol. prosecutors could not rule out that the vinegar in the juice might have occurred naturally. the district attorneys office says they don't have enough evidence to prove the she committed a crime. nearly two decades later -- and still no arrests in a castro valley cold case. 19-years ago this week, 14- year-old jenny lin was murdered in her home. last night, kron four's philippe djegal joined members of the community where a vigil was held honoring the murdered teenager. friends, family and complete strangers to jenny lin, march through the streets of castro valley. with blue balloons -- jenny's favorite color. and, signs remembering her,

the controversy continues over the morning after pill. and at what age it should be made available to minors. yesterday, government lawyers asked a federal appeals court to delay lifting age restrictions and prescription requirements. the move is an effort to delay implementation of a judge's april ruling. in last months decision a judge lifted all restrictions on the contraception meaning anyone at any age could buy it without a prescription. next tuesday a federal court considering whether to allow the judge's ruling to take effect immediately or delay it while further appeals are pending. lawyers for a group of women and parents say that any further delay in access to the medication would harm "countless" women.

a las vegas psychiatric hospital accused of shipping off its patients to california cities, including san francisco, will keep its federal funding. this decision comes despite the hospital not meeting some of the government's requirements. the rawson- neal hospital came under scrutiny for its discharge procedures. in one case, a mental patient was put on a bus to california, where no services were set up for him. a corrective plan was submitted and approved. now the government will make surprise visits to make sure the hospital is meeting all requirements. however the federal action has no impact on the investigation underway by san francisco's city attorney against the hospital for illegal patient dumping. california could soon treat electronic cigarettes like any other tobacco product. a bill was approved by the state senate yesterday. other smokers, such as where the devices can be used. the bill. but the electronic cigarette industry group
