>> reporter: a wild scene early this morning in the mission three people shot.you can see a couple of them lying on the ground. this video taken just minutes after the shooting.first responders still arriving on scene and extablishing a perimiuter at this point. police say the three victims.were shot on mission street near 16th. this is right near a bart station. police say the three suspects took off in a black mercedes station wagon. officers saw the vehicle at gilman and third streets. police chased the suspect's vehicle to cameron and nichols.where the mercedes collided with parked cars. an officer who was getting out of his cruiser was injured when the suspect vehicle backed into the cruiser. >> reporter:that officer is ok. the three suspects have

been arrested, and face charges including attempted homicide. all three shooting 40's. one was shot in the torso.that wound is considered life threatening. the other two were shot in the leg and are expected to recover. polcie think this was an attempted robbery that escalated into a triple shooting. >> catherine: looking at the scene of a train derailment in a baltimore suburb today. after this cargo train collided with a truck. the blast could be heard for miles. it was so powerful. several nearby buildings collapsed. the truck driver was badly hurt. no details yet on other injuries. a couple of people who were driving nearby wondered about the flames they saw. and captured one of the explosions on camera. >> ".back up!!! back up!!"

>> catherine: it wasn't immediately clear what kind of chemicals were being carried on the train. haz-mat crews evacuated a half-mile area. but tonight.a fire official says that nothing toxic is burning. >> pam: a fast moving fire destroyed multiple businesses in an east bay strip mall. here you can see the flames shooting off the roof of the building this morning. kron4's maureen kelly picks up the story from the scene in antioch >> reporter:this cell phone video shot by a neighbor shows what firefighters had to contend with when they arrived around 8:30 am to fight the two alarm blaze. contra costa county fire say the owner a restaurant inside this building in a strip mall located at the corner of buchannan road and gentrytown drive called 9-11 after smelling the smoke inside his business.another employee at the mall says he saw the man running out when he showed

up to work. >> as soon as i saw the smoke i realize it was something bigger out there. the two minutes later the building caught on fire. >> reporter: firefighters immediately went up to the roof to fight the firebut once they got therethey realized the flames had already spread thru the rafters making to unsafe to fight from the inside.fearing that the roof could collapse on top of themthey pulled back. and worked to contain the fire to the one building. the intense heat caused some small explosions from propane tanks inside one of the shops. >> reporter:most of the businesses hadn't opened yetso few had to be evacuated and no one was hurt. after the fire was out.firefighters could inspect the damage.which as you can see from this video was extensive the fire raced thru every shop in the building.destroying the burger joint.a nail salon, a beauty salon, a jewerly repair shop and a barber shop. leaving the owners and employees.at a loss for what to do next.

>> reporter:the fire department says the cause of the blaze is under investigation but at this time.it doesn't appear to be suspicious. maureen kelly kron4 news. >> pam: a nasty accident on the peninsula. sent five people to the hospital this afternoon. this is video from our helicopter partnership with abc 7 news. the c-h-p says, the driver of a red ford expedition. lost control just north of foothill boulevard in los altos and flipped over. one passenger was ejected, but all are expected to survive. all four northbound lanes of 280 were shutdown. and traffic then backed up to well before the intersection with highway- 85. the badly -damaged s.u.v. was eventually pushed out of the roadway. and loaded onto a flatbed truck. all lanes re-opened just before 1 p.m. the c-h-p says, the victims were on their way to nearby foothill >> pam: college. some spots of sunshine amidst a mostly gloomy day around the bay

hundreds of holiday weekend campers were evacuated from the paradise canyon area. residents and park employees were also told to leave. at last check the fire is 10 percent contained.but crews were assisted by winds that died down this morning. no injuries have been reported. one out-building and two vehicles did burn. you kids should count yourselves lucky.

>> reporter:a little foot was all that was visible in the unable to pull the baby out, rescuers went to the floor below and sawed away the entire section of sewer pipe. the baby remained wedged in the pipe, which measured only four inches in diameter, >> reporter: was taken to the local hospital with the baby inside. firefighters and surgeons, working together, carefully removed the pipe piece by piece. an hour later, success. the newborn rescued. with the afterbirth still attached. the baby suffered some cuts and bruises, and had a low heart rate, but was otherwide okay. police initially said they were looking for his parents and treating the case as one of >> reporter:a later report said the mother had her seld called police.

to becoming a reality. kron 4's charles clifford shows us where this is >> reporter:the federal emergency management agency has almost completed an environmental tens of thousands of non native eucalyptus trees in the east bay hills. if the plan moves forward, the trees would be removed from nearly a thousand acres stretching from lake chabot in the south to richmond here in the north. the reason, fire safety. on october 20th 1991 the oakland hills fire charred more than 3,000 homes and killed 25 people. after the fire, a study by fema found that eucalyptus trees significantly contributed to the spread of the fire. since then east bay regional parks, the city of oakland, uc berkeley and other agencies developed the plan to remove the trees and they've been trying to get grants from the federal government to pay for the work. let's take a closer look at a couple of spots included in the plan. this a google earth view of the area just south of highway 24 near the caldecott tunnel. the trees would be removed from this area and you can see that just to the south over this
