joining us on this saturday june 8th. new details as police continue to unravel a complicated shooting spree in santa monica. it left more injured. plus- the notorious serial killer known as the "night stalker" has died. we have a look at his crime spree that terrorized and the weather is continuing to heat up. here's a li outside francisco. we want to start things off in the weather center this see more hot temperatures today. janu and marty ad lib.

new details this morning in the santa monica shooting rampage. police have reduced the number of people killed by the gunman from six to four. the gunman is also dead. the situation ended at santa monica college yesterday. witnesses say the gunman was firing at will. ." in the car" gunman first killed his father and his brother. engulfed in flames when responding to the scene. kron 4's j.r. stone explains the shooting spree terrorized people in in addition to the four people the gunman killed. one person is in critical condition. another is listed in serious but stable condition. police say there are three other minor injuries. we are also learning more about the victims on the santa monica bus who were caught in the middle of the shooting. passengers say the gunman drove up and started honking his horn.

they say when the bus came to a stop, he opened fire. ."hit by a bullet" bus shooting in santa monica. paramedics could be seen treating a young mother. witnesses say a bullet grazed her head and another may have hit her right arm. her young daughter was at her side in the ambulance hospital. the serial killer known as the 'night stalker' is dead. richard ramirez had been on san quentin's death row since 1989. the preliminary cause of death is liver failure. as he kron 4's grant lodes

in cleveland, ariel castro was indicted yesterday on 329- counts for allegedly kidnapping and holding three young women captive in his house. the charges against the 52- year-old suspect include aggravated murder. castro allegedly impregnated one of his captives five times. he is charged with quote - "purposely causing the unlawful termination of pregnancy." the women were rescued last month after one of them while castro was away from the house. he will be arraigned next it takes more than flooded heavy rains throughout the northeast on friday. they came on the heels of tropical storm andrea - the hurricane season. you're looking at drivers braving waterlogged streets

of officers, including lieutenants and detectives. the idea is to give individual captains a manageable sized area to watch over, thus allowing them to respond quickly to problems and crime trends in their district. is optimistic >> going to be successful is that geographic key to effective crime reduction in every city that's had good crime reduction so we are optimistic that we are going to see some good results here. >>but this sort of thing has been tried before in oakland, the chief say that in the past the captains were given to large of an area to manage so now with having five districts it's a smaller area. smaller control area allows for better relationship building with the community because it's on a smaller scale. the chief also says that opd is going to deploy crime prevention teams on friday
