as we move through the rest of the week. why go ahead and talk about the fire concern. you see a flash of lightning here. from santa rosa today. cal fire is tracking all the strikes and kron4's rob fladeboe is reporting now on how they're going to remain on guard for the lightning caused fires over the next several days. if you look closely -- you'll see a flash of lightning from santa rosa. calfire is tracking the strikes. and as kron four's rob fladeboe reports now, for several days. >>rob:lightning hit a tree and sparked this wild land fire early monday near healdsberg. it's one of more fires in the north bay and calfire is bracing for more as threatening clouds like these move through the bay area. >> chief jim crawford/calfire: from command centers like this one in morgan hill, calfire is closely watching the weather and maps like this which shows no fewer than 5,000 lightning

strikes across the region since early sunday morning. nats >> we have a lightning detection aircraft looking for any of those let me stress that may have started a fire. we are in a weather pattern not unlike june of 2009 when thunderstorms touched off the hummingbird and several other lightning- caused fires in southern santa clara county and in the santa cruz mountains. calfire spotter planes were flying through the ominous looking cloud cover monday afternoon, as temperatures were climbing, along with the potential for still more south lightning. all resources are further notice. in morgan hill rob fladeboe kron 4 news.

>>pam:new tonight --- at least 20 fires were sparked by lightning around the bay area. each burning less than an acre. in sonoma county there were 13 fires. in solano county 4 fires. and in lake county, 2 fires. was sparked in colusa county. no word on any damage or injuries. this is a live look outside right now from our camera on mount tamalpais. as you can see, it is extremely that all day long. as kron four's terisa estacio reports. throughout the north bay today, the weather was quite unusual for this time of year. >>terisa:here on mount tamalpais monday at noon, it was a chilly 60 degrees, and take a look at that, the thick heavy fog was cascading over the mountains making it feel even colder, the wind was blowing as well. and throughout the morning a steady mist showered those out and about. earlier in the day, near the corte madera city hall, the streets were wet from rain. windshields visible for drivers in the morning commute. as the day unfolded, the conditions didn't change

time this year. a bay area limousine has burst into flames. this time -- the passengers -- a group of elderly women -- escaped unharmed. it happened sunday, in a gated area of walnut creek -- called rossmoor. many of the women were in their nineties. they were headed to sonoma to celebrate a 90th birthday party. kron4 talked to the some of the car safely. including the birthday girl her in a limo again anytime >> all i know is i will never take a limo for anything ever again. i would take a chance. it is not worth it. one minute everything is fine in the next minute it is chaos. >> and five minutes it was the black smoke you could

closing in on the cause of that fatal fire and plan to soon. >>grant:yet another flashing incident on an east bay trail has police warning people tonight. walnut creek police say a man has exposed himself six times since the middle of march along the iron hourse regional trail. the indecent exposure is happening on the trail between treat boulevard and lincoln avenue. the most recent incident was last wednesday afternoon.june 5th.here in the walden park area. another incident close to walden park april 10th. two more near the pleasant hill bart station.march 19th and may 22nd. and south broadway. and may 13th around lincoln avenue. kron four's maureen kelly shows us a suspect sketch and tells us why police are concerned using the trail could get more dangerous.

alert of their surroundings. the women i talked to found the news of the flasher to be distrubing. >> that's where i ride my bike. i feel safer on the trail. a san leandro high school teacher facing child pornography and burglary charges. was in court today. according to court documents -- this allstarted when the teacher -- richard styner -- un-intentionally showed a nude picture of himself in class, during a computer lesson. police say, a subsequent search of his computer turned up hundreds of pornographic stories, and a photo of an under-aged girl. prosecutors also say, styner entered the home of a

tauheed epps was robbed yesterday afternoon around 4:30 in the south of market neighborhood. police say three men with a handgun approached 2-chainz and five other people he was with.the suspects stole 2-chainz' wallet and cell phone.and shot a round into the air. the 35-year old rapper from atlanta was not injured. the rapper denies being robbed. the incident was on howard stereet near 4th street. after the robbery, two- chainz performed at oakland's oracle arena at the summer jam hip hop festival. >>pam: a live picture from arizona. a police bomb squad is searching at the southwest plane after a possible threat from los angeles austin tx was reported. this flood has been diverted to fix a

yaki blog >>catherine:the second- degree murder trial of george zimmerman think finally got underway in florida today. as jury selection began. he's the man who shot and killed 17-year-old trayvon martin in florida last february. which ignited a bitter national debate about guns and race. >>catherine:at stake -- george zimmerman's freedom. prosecutors say he killed 17-year-old trayvon martin in an example of racial profiling. self-defense after the teenager attacked him. it happened february 26th 2012. the then-neighborhood watch volunteer called police to report that the teenager was acting suspiciously. a dispatcher told him to

stay in the car.but instead, zimmerman followed martin. the one thing that's clear -- there was a confrontation. 911 calls record someone in the background screaming for help. then you hear the fatal shot. a key question -- who was screaming for help? the defense says it was zimmerman - who says the teenager had punched him and began smashing his head into the sidewalk. they say a video clip of trayvon martin speaking will prove that. the prosecution insists it's the unarmed trayvon martin who's screaming. today attorneys on both sides began questioning potential jurors. in a process that could take a week.6 people will eventually be chosen.with 4 alternates. martin's family says they're relieved the trial has begun. "we ask that the community continue to stay peaceful as we place our faith in the justice system." and zimmerman's brother says the family is confident that the state will not be able to prove its case. "not only do they have to prove that this was a murder, they have to prove simultaneously that it could not have been self-defense."

now at six. why are you trying to block my shot? the san leandro teacher accused of flashing a naked picture of himself in class. now not so eager to be in kron four is there as he appears in court on child pornography charges >>pam:the san leandro high school teacher. who is facing child pornography and burglary charges. was in court today. a judge ordered a restraining order be put on richard styner before ordering him to be released on his own recognizance kron 4's scott rates is live at the hall of justice in kitscott you talked to styner after the arraignment. what after entering a plea of not guilty, steiner and his attorneys and some friends watched out. i have some questions however there were not happy to see me. >> mr. steiner are these allegations true?

>> i did try to get through the door. >>mark: no comment when i asked him about the two charges against them, possession or control of child pornography and the first degree residential burglary. in addition to the restraining order, part of his conditional release, the george ordered him not to possess or access any kind of pornography whether it be lawful or not. after that long walk down the hallway, his attorney made this brief statement. >> i ask people to reserve judgment. it is unclear whether not a crime in fact has been committed in this case and because of that, we are asking everyone in the community to withhold any judgment.

court documents state that richard styner unintentionally showed a nude picture of himself in class police say a search of his computer turned up hundreds a photo of an under aged entered the home of a female underwear and took some clothing. >>pam:in the east bay, a birthday party for a 90-year old woman became marred when the limo she and her friends the women, all in ther 80's and 90's. escaped the fire without getting hurt. kron 4's justine waldman has the details on the investigation and uncovered company has dealt with. >>justine: 10 eldery women escaped the burning limo. that now looks like this. a charred mess. walnut creek police tell kron 4 news. there is no investigation into what caused the fire. sot lt jay hill / walnut creek police department" "no injuries, car was parked on private property there is no criminal case that we are involved in." towncar sf owns the limo. kron 4 news uncovered. the limo is listed with the california public utilities

commission as seating eight passengers, including the driver. but 11 people were on board sunday while the limo idled on the curb. when the fire started. the limo driver did not want to do an on-camera interview, but told kron 4 news. the order was to drive 8 people. but if towncar sf lied about the seating capacity to the commission, it could be penalized 75-hundre dollars per day of violation. state records show, there have not been any enforcement actions against towncar sf but there were two administrative suspensions. the company was suspended for not having workers' compensation insurance on file for a few days in august of 2011. and it was also suspended from january to february 2011 for failure to have liability insurance on file.

gilbert gil was charged today with two counts of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence and one count of child abuse in connection with last week's crash. according to the court documents, gil was driving his family to a fremont water park -- traveling between 67 and 76 miles an hour in a 35 mile an hour zone. gil suffered only minor injuries, and is being held at the santa rita jail in dublin on 350 thousand dollars bail. in the north bay today. rain, wind, and heavy fog made for unseasonably cold weather. this is what it looked like for most of the day on mount tamalpais. sheets of mist provided a shower for those out and about. down in mill valley, many bundled up with down jackets plus scarves and jackets. we found one couple that had come to the area for a birthday hike and were trying to make the best of the weird conditions.
