sister's son that will be eight to me. we are just not dealing with it well at all. the dog bit himk the unexpected and fatal >> reporter: bite, happening at a family members' union city home. know. the child who was killed is 6-year-old nephi selu. the dog belonged to a san mateo police officer. who is related to the boy. the dog is a pit bull mix.and family members say rob - what do we know? >> reporter:fighting back tears, the boy's aunt, iona, spoke briefly about the tragedy that has rocked her family. the fatal mauling occurred monday afternoon as 6-year-old nephi selu was playing 'gava,.' which they'd had for about two years. >> reporter:police say the boy was bitten by the dog, described as a pit bull mixed breed, on the top of his head and where he died. valerie austen lives two doors down and says the dog made her nervous at times. >> reporter:nephi's aunt says the dog was otherwise well-behaved and to her knowledge had never bit anyone before. other neighbors say the dog was always on a leash when out for walks. police say it was licensed, had it's shots and
