go back to retrieve their belongings today. battalion chief says they will assess the damage at the motel 6 and decide when the evacuees can return. the fire was first reported at seven last night near highway 80 and suisun valley road. a three-alarm was called when the fire spread quickly and threatening structures. however, firefighters were unable to prevent the fire from reaching the motel. firefighters were able to contain the grass fire to between an acre and an acre-and-a-half. the call came in around 7pmthe grass was on fire, the trees were on fire and the word went out to get outquick. ronnie smoot was taking a shower when he heard a commotion outside his room ronnie smoot evacuated >> i heard a bunch of

screaming and hollering and someone was beating on the door, screaming fire. i get out and take a look and, sure enough, white smoke and ashes flying everywhere. it caught the palm trees on fire and, once it did that, it fell on the roof. fire officals say that most of the rooms were full and sustained water damage from the sprinkler systemscary moments for motel patrons. evacuated we're staying tonight. firefighters responded quickly and attacked the grass fire on several fronts. officals say the faifield fire department because of the sustained winds that we have here in fairfield, 15 to 25 miles an hour the embers got up into the air and into the attic space of the motel six. fire officals say that most of the rooms were full and sustained water damage from the sprinkler system. no one was injured from both fires. >>anny:firefighters have contained a grass fire in benicia this morning. a-b-c 7 news.

conditions. >>anny:ten concession workers at at&t park have been arrested after a sit- down strike inside the park during last night's game. about 300 protestors were peacefully marching outside of the park at willie mays plaza. they were rallying for higher wages and better working conditions. police say about 30 or 40 protestors entered the park with purchased tickets. they say a sit-down was staged inside the stadium, which violates the fan code of conduct. kron 4 spoke with some fans during the game who said they support the protesting workers >> i support what they are doing. the plucky went up and they should get a raise. >> i feel very strongly that they should get a very fair

wage and great tips. >>anny: san francisco police arrested 10 of the protestors who refused to leave. they were cited for trespassing. the others were escorted out of the stadium without incident. the city of san jose is suing major league baseball. trying to kick-start its effort to get the a's to the south bay. city leaders say the league has been dragging its feet for four long years, costing san jose millions of dollars in potential revenue. a's owner lew wolff wants to move his team from oakland to the south bay. but the giants argue they hold territorial rights to san jose-- dating back to when the giants considered moving there. that was before a-t-and-t park was built. the giants are blocking the move by the a's.and the league isn't doing anything about it. supporters of the move say a 1922 ruling that makes baseball exempt from anti-

>>anny: more than two-thousand firefighters are now trying to contain a wildfire in the foothills of mariposa county, california. the smoke from the carstens fire has been so severe that a health warning has been posted for neighboring merced county. the fire has caused nearly one-thousand people to flee their homes. the evacuation orders come as the fire has burned more than 16-hundred acres and containment remained at 15- percent, as of monday evening. a spokesperson for cal fire

says the fire was started by an unattended campfire. firefighters in colorado are mopping up hot spots from the most destructive wildfire in state history. the black forest fire is just outside colorado springs. it killed two people, destroyed 502 homes and burned more than 22 square miles. it's 85 percent contained. hundreds of evacuated residents have been allowed back into the burn area. investigators think the fire was started by someone.although it's not clear yet whether it was arson. >>anny: let's check with weather with erica. the morning. >>erica: right now, we are talking temperatures with a cold start. low 50s out the door in santa rosa. i would not be surprised if we actually pick up some other

>>anny: at the teen year-old boy has been charged that- louisiana and the death of his sister. police say the boy told them that he was performing wrestling moves on her. officials at a pond --they found viloude louis lying unresponsive on the bathroom floor in this apartment when they arrived on the scene. she was pronounced dead at the hospital. the jefferson parish sheriff's says the child had several injuries like broken ribs and internal bleeding.

>>darya: watching wall street this morning. futures trading shows mixed trading across the board this morning. the dow and the s and p 500 are up, while the nasdaq is down. traders have been speculating about what the federal reserve will say today about how long it plans ot keep stimulus programs in place. the latest guess seems to be that the programs will continue for now. that sent the market to broad gains yesterday. here's a look how the numbers closed. the dow rose 138 points, closing at 15,318. the nasdaq added 30 points closing the day at 3,482. and the s and p 500 rose 13 points to 1,652.

>>erica: >>erica: san francisco police have released video of two teenaged girls they say attacked and robbed a woman on muni last week. they're hoping it will help them track down the suspects. the 68-year-old woman was sitting in the front of the train when the two teenagers approach her -- one of them punching her in the face. the girls take her two purses - containing cash and a phone - just as the doors open. the woman heads out the door

rushing after them. the driver then tries to help after realizing what's happening but the girls got away. police are hoping someone recognizes them and gives them a call. san mateo county police are searching for a woman who's been missing since last week. ara ward of san mateo was last seen wednesday when she went to montara state beach with her boyfriend. the couple apparently fell asleep on the beach.but when the boyfriend woke up in the morning - he says ward was gone. she's described as five feet tall.110 pounds.with brown hair and hazel eyes. she was last seen wearing a pink blouse, black sweat pants and no shoes. police say ward was depressed and possibly suicidal. we're learning more about the man caught on camera attacking people at the 16th and mission bart station. yeiner perez gariza-balo was in court tuesday.
