as a million people. the government did a u-turn on raising bus fares, but it was clearly too little, too late. for the second time this week, riot police were fighting running battles to try to clear the streets. police were firing clouds of tear gas and pepper spray.sending protestors running - only to regroup. some groups damaging storefronts and government buildings. fires were set. and barriers set up and then torn down. rubber bullets were used. this photo reportedly shows one of the protestors injured by a rubber bullet. the demonstrations are continuing this weekend. the movement galvanizing people across the country. brazil's president held emergency meetings today.but at last word, she hadn't made any public comments. the government had hope things would calm down after making some concessions on bus fares -- but the protests are in full swing again. >> pam: a famous tourist town, on the verge of being destroyed by a wildfire.

>> banf >> pam: now at six. >> pam: trouble on bart. vagrants. tonight kron four shows you why some bart workers say their jobs are dangerous. and why some of those claims may not be true. in a new tactic to inform the public during contract talks. officials with bart's biggest union say, chances are. you have either seen, or been nearby some criminal activity. at a bart station. in three years, more than eleven - hundred passengers and more than a hundred workers have been harassed or attacked on bart property. and that's not all. they add. in just five stations over the last three years, almost 25- hundred serious crimes took place.

expires june 30th. and the headaches that can result from a possible strike will be intense. july 1st is the target date as the current union contract ends. and if there is a strike, hundreds of thousands of people will to get around the bay area. kron-4 wants you to be prepared for that day. and our charles clifford explains your options. >> reporter: more than 300 thousand people ride bart on the average weekday. if the system slows down or stops because of strike, many people will be forced to drive or carpool, but for commuters who need public transit there are a few options. one of the busiest bart routes is the transbay tube between san francisco and the east bay, if it shuts down there are alternatives. the san francisco bay ferry runs boats from san francisco and south san francisco to oakland, alameda and vallejo. ac transit which operates mainly in the inner east bay...emeryville, oakland and hayward....does have a route that crosses the bay bridge but it only makes one stop in san francisco at the transbay terminal. along the peninsula, caltrain offers service between san francisco and milbrae, which could be a limited alternative to bart.
