millions of people are waiting to hear what the supreme court is going to do about prop 8, the defense of marriage act and affirmative action. the vote could come out as early as tomorrow or thursday. the supreme court says they may add an extra day to announce its decisions this week. the justices had 11 decisions to write this weekend, and it's the final week before the session ends in the first week of july. normally three decisions are released in a single session. the clock is ticking down to a bart strike. if they can't get a deal done - the bay area commute could be thrown into chaos in about a week. both bart and a-c transit workers aren't backing down from their demands. the workers came together in oakland saturday afternoon, wearing red tee- shirts in an act of unity as both their contracts are due to expire on june 30th. union members passed out flyers in hopes that the public understands their position and their goal to avert a strike.

bart employees say another concern is safety as they dead with unruly passengers and the homeless on a daily basis. bart says it is willing work with employees about their safety concerns but as of now talks are at a standstill and are set to resume tomorrow. during the last bart strike in september of 1997, the nine counties in the bay area had a population of about six and half million people. at the time, bart had a daily weekday rider ship of about 260-thousand passengers. ferry systems were overwhelmed and traffic jams, especially on the bay bridge, lasted for hours.

>> fire officials said the last night optimistic they can protect the town of south fork. the fire's rapid advance prompted the evacuation of an estimated that one- thousand to 15-hundred people on friday. fire crews say it could be days before people are homes, cabins and r- v parks. despite everything, officials say no structures had been lost and the fire was still about five miles from the town.

the boston globe reported the mayor sent a letter to survivors and victims' families yesterday to let them know the items were being placed in a new location. officials say a committee will be appointed to work on creating a permanent memorial. a new report has been rogue l-a-p-d officer christopher dorner. violent shooting rampage that left four people dead unjustly terminated by the department. the report found the firing of christopher dorner was appropriate, and the only course of action the department could take given the circumstances surrounding his case. dorner had been fired after accusing his training officer of kicking a subdued suspect. his appeal was denied, and in a manifesto posted online, dorner allegedly promised revenge. his rampage ended after a police shootout in san bernardino county, when he was found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. n-f-l player aaron hernandez has been the center of a media firestorm since the body of one of his friends was found a half mile away

their condition is unknown at this time. the cause of the fire is still being reviewed. a battalion chief says it was a very busy day for the san jose fire department. he adds -- crews were sent to multiple fires in the afternoon. this was the scene of another fire in san jose. a series of propane encampment near the los lagos golf course started the fire that burned about eight to ten acres yesterday. the fire was first reported at four-thirty. fire officials battled the fire for several hours.they say dry grass and high winds quickly. fire crews say they had difficulty accesing the homeless encampment due to the number of large trees that were on fire. >> fire crews brought in a

dangerous cities, based on the f-b-i's numbers. and, behind flint and detroit michigan. oakland ranks third. in 20-12. close to 400-thousand people lived in the city of oakland. and, per every 100-thousand residents. there were 1,993 violent crimes. including 1,086 robberies. city nationwide. that's also a jump from the 851 robberies per every 100-thousand people the year before. there were also 6,594 property crimes per every 100-thousand people. compared to 5,288 in 20-11. that includes burglary, theft, and arson. the cities new interim police chief sean whent has said decreasing the number of property crimes is a main priority. from year to year, the the murder rate skyrocketed. 104 people were murdered in 20-11 compared to 126 last

year. an, increase of 22. but oakland wasn't the only california city to make the list of top ten most dangerous cities in the stockton ranks sixth. in the newsroom, philippe djegal, kron four news. >> authorities are investigating a 40-person brawl that erupted during a high school football game in rohnert park. yesterday's semi-pro game at rancho cotati high school de-volved into all-out fighting around 3:45 p-m. it took backup from the sonoma sheriff's office, sonoma state university and cotati police to bring it under control. three vehicles were damaged in the fight, but no one suffered major injuries. prosecution. the family of a missing teenager, who recently suffered a traumatic brain injury said doctors warned he could die if he is not found soon.

sean sidi has been missing since may 21st and was last seen at his former high school in san francisco. his family is hoping the doctor's opinion issued this week, will help change sidi's status with police to "medically disabled." family members say changing his status would raise the priority level of the search with police. friends and family are holding an information vigil today at two p-m at stanyan and page streets in san francisco. nearly 17-hours after plunging into the water, crews removed a minivan with a body inside from the murky in san francisco. police say the van drove over the curb into the bay around five friday night. crews were unable to save the woman inside - they deemed conditions too rough for a recovery, and waited for calmer conditions saturday morning after freeing the van from the bottom of the muddy woman's body. the medical examiner's office are working to identify the victim. police have not determined what caused the victim to plunged into the water. new research shows nearly a third of san francisco's lesbian or transgender. census takers estimate the city currently has more than 64-hundred homeless. in a survey conducted earlier this year, 29 percent of them said they were gay. the results surprised many veteran homeless advocates. a u-c-l-a -based think tank has estimated that only 15 percent of the city's total population is gay or lesbian.

this latest development, which could bring big changes for both sides in this highly anticipated trial. a huge decision just days before the start of george zimmerman's murder trial.
