president obama is in south africa this weekend as part of a three-nation african tour. he visited the family of nelson mandela. madela has been hospitalized in recent weeks. today, south african leader jacob zuma and his wife greeted the president and first lady michelle during a ceremony in pretoria. the focus of the president's visit is bolstering u-s investment

strike...the bart system ground to a halt. on monday morning, bay area commuters where met with a traffic and transit nightmare. tens of thousands of commuters were forced to find other ways to get around. busses and ferries were packed and traffic jams snarled roadways for hours. on average, commute times jumped from one hour to three hours. by monday evening, bart and union representatives had returned to the negotiating table, but a deal was still days away. by tuesday morning, transit times had improved as commuters began adjusting to the situation by carpooling or working from home. but busses and ferry boats remained full and anger towards bart was growing. everyone is mad! meanwhile, negotiations dragged on... on wednesday the two sides met for more than 14 hours and tempers began to flare... >>i am mad, i am upset, i am disappointed. >>on thursday, the standoff entered it's 5th day and negotiations remained san francisco mayor willie brown was even brought in to try to find a solution.
