>>james: we are back at 409 a. ac transit workers are also in the midst of contract negotiations. their union contract also expired sunday night but they decided not to walk off the job. that turned out to be good news for the many commuters who are relying on ac transit to get around the bay. ac transit buses carried an unusually high volume of

passengers. it was at least double the normal number of writers at some locations. the union has mentioned the possibility of an ac transit strike, but said, it will give 24 hours' notice before beginning any work stoppage. meanwhile, the 3500 oakland workers who went out on a one day strike have decided to head back to work. with city services up to full operation by tuesday morning. hundreds of workers are protesting for more pay and what they call unfair labor practices. ac spokesperson said, oakland mayor jean quan met with union leaders on friday, and presented a package, a 3.5 percent pay raise for employees over the next two years. but the city says the union rejected that proposal.

strike. george, what are you seeing out there? >>george: i don't think we will see any real congestion until the 5:00 hour at the bay bridge. importantly, caltran, the sec, the bay area poll of authority have determined that they need to get more cash lanes at the bay bridge sense of most of the people using the bridge yesterday for the first time were not using fasttrack. they were paid by cash as a consequence, and that accounted for big backups while there were plenty available lanes in the middle. here at the san mateo bridge, pretty like an easy ride. this was an underutilized alternate use yesterday but that will probably change today.

probably higher lows for the san mateo bridge earlier in the day. although we did have a problem on the approach to the bridge yesterday. if we can eliminate that, we may have a better ride on 92. here at the golden gate bridge, didn't see much as far as alternate traffic goes. but lighter than usual load to this week. a quick look at traffic around the bay. updating drive times. currently, he sure freeway drive is about 13 minutes. that was well over two hours yesterday. 24 still looks good so the 680 south. you're right to the san ramon valley is problem for reprieve west 580 without delays. south bay freeways look good. greene shows speed of 50 mi. per hour or better and that's why the commute time through loren is now just 23 minutes from

alive at 20th and broadway in oakland where commuters are boarding a.c. transit buses to take them across the bay. what you see out there? >>will: you can see that woman leading on the post. we saw her yesterday at about five are so. i went over to talk to her and she said she ran away about an hour which is why she's coming even earlier. you see people here. this is a very busy area. the uptown transit center print it here early because people thought they could be here two hours earlier but even then, they were late. here is video we shot at about 8:00 in the morning yesterday. this was pretty steady for about two to three hours from 7:00 to about 10:00. i've got to tell you. everyone who was in line ran late. there was

a strike right across the street of bart workers. while these people were laid, they were watching some of the workers while others. if you want to give yourself a fighting chance, i suggest you come down here even earlier than yesterday because we start the crowd start to arrive around 630 or 7:00 this morning and that was not good enough. the reason why is a once these buses are full, and they blew by some of the other locations. if you want to give yourself a fighting chance, come down here to 20 and broadway you probably won't be able to hop on the bus at other stations after o'clock this morning from what we saw three which is

will have to pay the toll and also pay a fine, but if you sign up for fasttrack within i believe 10 days, they will outdate the fine. whatever you do, don't back up and tried to change lanes and don't try to use the car pool lanes. chp has enhanced enforcement dealing with car pool violations this morning >>erica: it is a fairly warm and muggy start to the morning. we are in the low seventies out livermore, upper 60s looking at the san jose downtown san francisco ad. into the afternoon, we are talking high clouds, sunshine and temperatures in the upper digits.

bake delays for the bay bridge where a back up has started. all of the approaches to the bridge is backed up. here is our look from the helicopter partnership with abc 7 news. on the left-hand side is the approach from the mimic freeway. all of these are backed up right now. switching to the toll plaza you will see that there is a lot of traffic at the center of the toll plaza because extra cash lanes have been opened. this is definitely manning less of that advantage for fasttrack users. it doesn't spread the pain are run.are round. alreadye drive time is 18 to 20 minutes. it is already
