dramatic video of a violent san francisco robbery. apparently the loot wasn't enough. the victim was knocked out cold. i'll show you ahead. then -- what police believe sparked a violent road rage incident on the peninsula. it ended with one driver shot in the face. but first, two midwestern teenagers on a fun vacation in florida - are critically hurt in a para-sailing accident. family members could only watch in horror as it happened. that story. after the break. two teenaged girls from indiana are still hospitalized today. after a parasailing accident in florida. they're both 17 --- alexis fairchild and sidney good. people on the beach caught that accident on video. and you can hear them reacting to what they saw. here's the video. ".oh,. oh. oh!!!! what you're seeing -- the moments after their tow line attached to a boat snapped. and they were swept away by the wind. first smashing into an apartment building. then coming down in a parking lot.where they slammed into cars. the brother of one of the girls was on the boat.and could only watch helplessly. both girls were critically injured. one of them is now stable. but they both have a long recovery ahead. the father of alexis said the families are happy for even the smallest signs of progress. >> we have been overwhelmed,

this - they're hoping to find the suspects involved in this robbery and vicious beating. feather take a closer look. the victim is on the ground.she's trying to get up.and then this guy kicks her in the face! hard! now we'll freeze it.and slow it down. you see a couple people walking away. they've already robbed the woman. they've dragged her.she's on her back.goes to get up.and this guy rears back and her in the face. she's knocked unconscious.and then the guy who kicked her walks away. there are two witnesses.this guy standing over here. and another man that walks by seconds later. this was early last sunday morning - about 1:50. it was in the area of market street near dolores street. this was after saturday castro.

the suspects are five black men and one black woman - all thought to be late teens or early 20's. police think the group is responsible for several robbries in the castro area that night. police have some of the suspects in custody.but not this man.the one who kicked the woman. the victim is recovering. we've posted this video on our website - kron4.com. from >> pam: an east palo alto man is recovering tonight after police say someone shoots him in the face during a road rage incident this morning. kron four's rob fladeboe >> just one gun pointed and shot him in the face. >> reporter: valentin medina showed me the spot here on cooley avenue where his son was shot in the face just after midnight. ah >> my son was shot right in the face and i don't know why. >> reporter: medina says his son was shot as he tried to track down a car that was

involved in an accident with his sister and brother in law earlier in the evening. police aren't sure exactly what led to the shooting but are treating this as a case of road rage. >> there are several different accounts of what happened. from witnesses and also from the victim's. these very tour of the investigation. we are not positive of what happened but it seems it was an accident. it resulted in a road rage incident and ultimately led to the subject being shot in the face. >> reporter: the bullet shattered a window in the victim's car. neighbors say the gunshot went un-noticed because of the the fireworks going off at the same time. the shooter remains at large. >> his id is very big, you know? and his--eyeball is very big. >> reporter: valentin medina says his son is in stable condition but but worries he could lose an eye. meantime he and his family are fed up with violence they say is on the rise.

have brought about a lot of progress, but still no deal on day four of the workers strike for bart. -- not when -- but if a deal can get done. kron is there as bay area commuters welcome the return of bart train service after a four and a half day the day many bay area commuters were hoping for is finally here. bart workers have agreed to go back to work, and trains are finally running. the strike lasted for four and a half days, but trains are now running for this holiday weekend. voiced their frustration about during that time. here's the latest. bart management and the unions agreed to extend the current contract for 30 days. this means service will remain running until august 4th. which the unions will have to again authorize a strike talks will continue, but both sides say there is a wide gap between them. but that may not matter to commuters. kron-4's justine waldman is live at the embarcadero bart station. and justine -- for commuters, a sigh of relief. >> reporter: many commuters

are relieved. we have video of the new trains just as the break from the strike subsided. you can see that the commuters are happy. they did not have to sit in traffic or wait for a crowded bus or deal with a crowded ferry. the passengers are happy that bart is running but this is a cautiously optimistic situation. they are worried that another strike could be right around the corner. >> as far as being so dependent for my job? that has caused me to pause and think that it is a good idea to be so dependent on the situation that could beat non existent in just the blank of an ally. >> reporter: that is what passengers are telling me, in just a blanket of night -- to be sole dependent to be in the blink of an eye--

just how dependent are torn apart and did not realize is it. and just how dependent they are on bart. and how much they did not realize it. overall, pam. they are relieved. >> after four days off line, bart trains started running on friday just in time for the evening commute. this is video of the first trains rolling through the embarcadero station in san franciscojust after 3pm. the platform was packed with passengers waiting for the first trains. riders tell kron 4, they are relieved the strike is over, but worried another strike is right around the corner. bart riders tell kron 4 news if there is another strike, at least they know their other options for getting ferry or carpool. tonight at 6;30.we'll hear from union leadership.as workers return to the job.but they are far from happy. how are bart employees reacting to going back to work after a 4-day strike without a new contract? one union member tells kron4's haaziq madyun.that she has mixed feelings about the situation.

several in simi valley just north of los angeles. earlier police report saying that a fireworks. show cost them to ottawa explode. however, the deputy is saying that several things that could have happened to cause this accident. 30 people were injured, some seriously. here in the bay area, there were plenty of illegal fireworks shows. maybe the biggest of them in east oakland. this is video from you-tube. and the show was amazing. quite a few people came out to see the show and take video of it with their cell from all reports, no one was hurt and some reviews say it was better than a lot of *legal shows they have ever seen. if you're asking who may have put this show on, no one there said they knew.

and then there was this one at the intersection of 25th and harrison. and looking at the video, it seems like they came from the fron tand the back of the white s-u-v you see here. again, this one had no one injured, no one arrested, and everyone said it was a great show. and the illegal fireworks shows weren't just in california. seattle firefighters say this huge fire at a dry boat storage area was started by illegal fireworks. huge flames were seen as racks of boats stacked four stories high were engulfed by the fire. the fire happened shortly before seattle's official fireworks show, but investigators say unauthorized fireworks were to blame. it's estimated the fire did more than a million dollars in damage to the boats. one firefighter was hurt but is expected to be okay. >> we have the sea breeze for tonight. this live review of san pablo ave. low

(male announcer) live from the kron 4 news station, this is the kron 4 news. back to business. commuters were hoping for is finally here. bart workers have agreed to go back to work, and trains are finally running. the strike lasted for about four and a half days, but trains are running for this holiday weekend. something many commuters voiced their frustration about during that time. here's the latest. bart management and the unions agreed to extend the current contract for 30 days. this means service will 4th. which the unions will have to again authorize a strike with 72 hours notice. talks will continue, but both sides say there is a wide gap between them. but that may not matter to
