skidded down runway 2-8 left. the fuselage came to rest here... just to the south of the runway. the ntsb has now completed interviews with the flight crew and we have a clearer picture of what happened next. google earth the boeing 777 has 8 doors. there are doors 4 on each side of the plane. according to the ntsb, during the crash emergency slides at door 1 right and 2 right deployed...inside the plane that's not supposed to happen. the slides should deploy outside the plane and only if the door is opened. there was a single flight attendant sitting near door 1 right and another near 2 right. both were injured when those slides inflated. at the rear of the plane, there were four flight attendants seated near doors 4 left and 4 right. the ntsb says that 3 of these attendantswere ejected from the rear of the plane during the crash. all three

survived. back at the front of the plane, 2 flight attendants sitting near door 1 left asked the cockpit crew for instructions. according to initially told the attendants to have the passengers stay in their

>>will: joining me once again is the chair of the ntsb. you have been doing interviews with the pilots and investigating the scene yourself. one thing that has come out mamet is that one of the landing pilots said he saw a flashing light as he was descending. could you tell us more about that? >> investigators asked him to explain what he saw. they asked him if he said it was a laser. he said no. he said he could see his instrument so i think it was a temporary thing. we don't understand what it is a but we don't believe it that it was anything that appeared his ability to fly the plane. >>will: was there enough time for him to recover and land safely? >> he was the only one that

described a scene the flashing lights. there were three pilots and the cockpit and he was the only one who describe that flashing lights. >>will: did he turn around and tell the pilots that he was temporary blinded or did he keep it to himself? >> we are looking to see if there was any indication that there was any communication about that. >>will: there were reports that they tried to contact air traffic control about 2,000 ft. out three that they did not get a response. is that out of the ordinary? >> no they are very busy. they did get that. there were about one-and-a-half miles out when they got the landing clearance. and may have been on the late side but it was certainly in the range of what is acceptable. >>will: once it crashed, they did not realize how bad the fire was because there were reports that they told the flight attendants to stay in their seats. was that an error or is that

part of protocol for training? >> well we know is after the crash, there were different perspectives. people have different information. the pilots did not issue an immediate evacuation but instead told passengers to stay in their seat. >>will: the 92nd the way of getting off the plane immediately, did that contribute to the extent of any injuries? >> at this point we have many passengers who did get off the plane and we also know there were injuries many of those injuries were the result of the initial crash and so we are looking at that, evaluating all of the injuries. certainly a chaotic scene when you are evacuated in aircraft of over 300 people. >>will: why did issue is in

word. is it because this plane was twisted that it shot the wrong way? >> we know that two of the eight flags deploy it inside of the aircraft and flight attendants sitting near them. we understand that-we want to understand how why that happened. we're working with the manufacturer to understand. the >>darya: when will the runway be cleared. >> the ntsb released the runway last night. salvage has begun and they are picking up debris with larger equipment. you can see cranes' out there and some of the other work will be done by hand. i have to clear the debris, claim the runway and in the airport have to take out some resurfacing and other efforts to get back in service. >>will: is a bad enough for a could take days if not a week to make cosmetic repairs or will it be a lot longer because obviously that runway is crucial to a coming and going at sfo. >> we know how important that is up. --that runway

futures trading shows all three indexes in the positive this morning. the dow's string of gains is over. but it was a relatively quiet trading session yesterday. here's a look at the closing numbers.

the dow lost nearly nine points closing at 15,291. the nasdaq added 16 and a half points to close at 3,520. and the s and p 500 added a fraction of a point, closing at 1,652. good news on the housing market. fewer u-s homes went into foreclosure or were repossessed by banks last month. foreclosure listing firm realtytrac says banks started the foreclosure process on 57-thousand homes in june.

that's the lowest level for any month in more than seven years. foreclosures that went through also saw steep drops in june. however, foreclosures remain a potential drag on housing in many states, including florida, nevada, illinois, three hispanic former employees are suing target for discrimination and retaliation. the lawsuit was filed in yolo county. it alleges that caucasian managers at a warehouse in woodland regularly used racial slurs when addressing hispanic workers. it cites a document featuring common stereotypes and tips on how to manage hispanic workers. a target spokeswoman wouldn't comment on the lawsuit itself but says the minneapolis-based company was sorry for the content of the document. she says it was not part of any "formal or company-wide
