inside this building here is where the two women died.and one male was injured. victoga jerlwey store. other employees and customers in the jewlery mart building were evacuated across the street to the concourse exhibition center. several streets in the area are closed. so this investigation and crime scene are having an impact on the evening commute. >> pam: the evening commute, and another reporter live john can you hear us? >> reporter: yes. we are here live. at seventh and at a very active homicide

investigation, a double homicide. earlier this afternoon around 2:00 p.m. when shots were fired. shortly after that, a call came to police with our kron 4:that is an emergency call when the officer needs help is referred to as a she said that she heard multiple shots. the police got on the scene with rifles and drawn and you can see the san francisco police department. the tactical risk bresponse units. they have this completely quarantined off. as we have mentioned, a very scn say is that eight street is going to be closed, indefinitely as they continue to investigate this scene. just a few moments ago san francisco police chief spoke with us and here

is what he said. >> we talked about this before what could be an active shooter situation. we want people to secure in place until it is safe to exit the building. that has happened on the first floor where this occurred. they have been evacuated. back here alive, the police chief saying that everybody had been evacuated but there are as this is a active scene because it was a double homicide. we have plenty of video in new images as we bring them in at also updates from the police chief in a few moments. we will bring that to you as soon as we get it. reporting live, kron 4. >> pam: of the shelter in plac that has just been

lifted but it is still a very active crime scene. one witness was returning after the shooting occurred. he was speaking to his wife on the phone who also works close to the shooting and he shared his story with kron 4. >> my wife was telling me that the people that work over at that store were shot. and the girl who shocke who also--worked there was also shot. >> this and jewelry mart was a chaotic scene and it is still difficult. catherineone witness was returning to his store near the scene,the scene shortly after the chaotic one. >> catherine: there was a lot of chaotic scene. at the scene.in the minutes after the shooting. fear and confusion around the jewelry mart. but once police were on the out.

to bring you developing news. now,only on four tonight. new information in the case of kidnapped oakland todder, daphne webb. kron4 has uncovered new details about the childs parents. the mother was arrested in february of this year. after being found passed out drunk in her car, with daphne in the back. >> reporter: neighbors say that they have not seen the child's mother in weeks. according to court documents, there was a restraining order against the mother of mandating that she cannot, with and a 100 yds of the 21 month old. the documents reveal that it is all because in the month of february, the mother, as her state was truly behind

the wheel and passed out behind the wheel. she admitted to taking vikings in and alcohol before driving. she was sentenced to drug counseling and parenting classes. the father was are arrested on wednesday for child endangerment. leaving the child alone in the car and they say that she was kidnapped while he was in the store. ever since, there has been a massive search. charges, and took parenting classes. day after the arrest of the father. he had been previously endangerment. but thos charges have been dropped. daphne was stolen from his car, while he ran into a store. the child was left with a grandmother, who suffers from dimentia. oakland at the policeshe has more on the search >> reporter: your thoughts is that issue was reported missing? >> it is sad. >> reporter: why do you say that? >> the child's father was

developing story. we're on verdict watch in the second degree murder trial of george zimmerman. the case today. they've wrapped up for the day -- and will go back into deliberations saturday. the options they're facing -- 2nd degree murder.manslaughter.or not guilty. the key question -- was it self-defense when zimmerman shot and killed trayvon martin last year? february of last year. a confrontation between neighborhood watch volunteer george zimmerman and 17-year-old trayvon martin ends - when the unarmed teenager is shot and killed. zimmerman says it was self- defense.saying the teenager attacked him. prosecutors say it's second degree murder.and the teenager was racially profiled. both sides had a final chance to persuade the jury. >> saying that this is not 2nd degree murder if there's even a little reasonable doubt. >> catherine: in

& bath and a nordstrom's and a tech company. the chief give us an update, earlier. where he indicated that there is one suspect in custody. they were looking at the possibility of a second shooter. >> there was a gunman, with a single suspect entered and store #147. and he shot one man. and there were two female victims as well. we believe that there were gunshots and those two women are deceased. the suspect exited. and he went east bound at this area where he was impeached by three different police officers. and he produced a revolver. he fired upon the officers and retreated into a

restaurant. additional officers came on the scene. more rounds were fired. none of the rounds hit the officers. prior for the officers to return fire, he discarded his revolvers and he surrendered. he suffered a superficial wounds on his hand and taken to the hospital. as well as the male victim to the stork is now in critical/stable condition at a hospital. the male victim was taken to the -- hospital. have and the man-also from the jewelry store it is also in critical stable condition. everybody else has been methodically processed through this all across the street. and i would like to thin -that everybody healthy and to thank...

every law enforcement. the call 406 went out with the critical incident and the first responders. health and even the red cross provided some help with bottled water, snacks we really, really appreciate it. it was a horrific event. we will move forward. we do not know the motive for this crime. i do not know what the suspect had in his possession at the time of but it would not have been something... however, we will be able to interview the male victim and he will be able to tell us the story. this is a gold store. >> with the exchange fire? >> there was no officers that fired. there was no return of gunfire.

still an active investigation. there have been two people killed. the suspect is in custody and is being observed at san francisco general hospital. a year and 911 call came am a code 406 was called by police. and financially, for as many as police and officers as possible. and -- initially. as they encountered the suspect. the suspect opened fire and we're not exactly sure if that is when these people were killed. this is an active homicide investigation. two people dead. let me show you. this is still a very active scene. i do not know if we can see it from my vantage point. but there is a san francisco tactical vanned.

caught many people off guard. one person describes what she saw. >> before i could even park my car there was gunfire. suddenly, there was several police cars and they were out with their rifles and running that way. it continued. and i ran out of the building and more police kept coming with their rifles and running to the back of the building, to the front of the building. >> reporter: this was a very chaotic scene. immediately after, when they arrived and called for a shelter in place. anybody that was and businesses were required to stay in the building. including the r e i.. things are getting back to normal but they say that this 1800 block is closed. probably for at least another couple

can see here in this video caputured by kron four news, they talked with residents who live up the street as wwell as next door - a resident who spoke with investigators say they asked her if she knew anything about the webbs or the girls sudden disappearance. >> they asked me if i had seen the girl. what did you see? >> reporter: 1 was the last time that you saw the baby? >> a few weeks ago. >> reporter: and take a look here, this is about 2 miles from the girls' home. an officer searches a field. teams will continue to search nearby parks and open spaces. like this trail head just up the street from the webbs home for any sign of the girl. all of this as kron four news is learning that daphne's mom, kiana webb was recently convicted of

endangering daphne's life. in court document's obtained by kron four news. in february kiana webb was drooling in her parked car, daphne was alone inthe back seat. kiana admitted to police that she had taken alcohol and vicodin before driving, she pleaded no contest and was sentenced to drug counseling and parent classes. in oakland terisa estacio, kron 4 news. >> kron four learned that the toddler's father -- john webb -- will be a free man tonight. webb was arrested yesterday on suspicion of child endangerment. during his court appearance this morning, prosecutors say they don't have enough evidence to follow through with charges. he will be released from the santa rita jail tonight, and is expected to return home to his family. the alameda county district attorney can re-file charges if new evidence comes to light. daphne's mother has been questioned and is not considered to be a suspect. the suspect in this case is

the scene. the fire department adds there has not been any official word whether that contributed to the death of 16-year-old ye meng yuan. and there is now a third child dead in the crash. it's another female. but we don't have any more information on the child's identity yet. kron-4's j-r stone is live at the airport. and j-r -- the runway is finally open!. how did they get it clear so quickly? >> reporter: these working crews have been out here all night. and it was only open with the last one hour. with nearly 900 flights cancelled since this tragedy. the airport director spoke about that this afternoon. >> i was here on a saturday. and this, i would never see anything like this with the baggage and the disarray on

the runway it was very shocking. and quite an emotional experience that 300 people were on board. and also to recognize that this could have been much worse. we had 1,000 t of asphalt. with a lot of repairs had to be done with it dodges and scrapes on the runway because of hydraulic fuel. these were about 8 in. deep. some that were over 100 ft. long. and 1 ft. x 1 ft.. the airlines will return to their normal schedule. i do not expect to see any cancellations tomorrow. everything was entirely safe before and it is entirely safe again today. >> reporter: you are looking at the front section of this destroyed the plane. you can see that there is still a lot of work being done. and a again, just to

>> reporter: good evening, pam. we are at the corner of brannan with two people dead and a suspect what we think was a 9 1 0 1 the call could have been in active robbery. when that-911 call, came in. the police encountered him and the suspect drew a revolver and open fire. multiple shots were heard. thefire however they did issue a 406... that is a call out for as many police officers

to respond. the suspect surrendered. the police chief spoke with us just a few moments ago and here is what he had to say. >> he produced a result or. he fired upon the officers and retreated into a restaurant after he produced a revolver. --. and prior to the officers being able to return the fire he discarded the revolvers and surrendered. he suffered superficial wounds on his hand. he was taken to the hospital and as well as a victim from the store who is in critical but stable condition at the hospital. >> reporter: you can hear him saying that none of the officers returned fire and none of them were hurt when they returned fire. however, what we can say is that he

is at san francisco general hospital right now. the chief described a strange scene. the suspect surrendered, covered in blood and it was not clear if he sustained injuries or if that was blood from the victims. what we can tell you, definitively is that there a suspect in custody. and as we have the details verify will bring you the latest. at 7th and brannon.. kron 4 news. continuing our team coverage >> pam: on the fatal shooting a thekron-4's charles clifford is also at the scene.and spoke to witnesses. charles -- what did you learn? >> reporter: this neighborhood is full of small shops and office space. and restaurants this is a very active. and caught many people off guard at 2:15 there was a shelter in

place. while this investigation was going on. we have video of people being evacuated. the police officers were being taken out of the scene. chaotic. and i spoke with one woman who described what happened. >> everything happened so fast. they told us to go inside the building and then i guess the police came. >> reporter: now, that shelter is in place was lifted about 45 minutes ago. they are also showing some signs of opening up the streets that brannan and 7th. >> pam: charles, can you give us a sense of volume of trouble of traffic? can you give us a volume of --

>> a russian immigrant has been charged with murder in the beating death of an elderly man in antioch. u-s marshals assisted in the arrest of the suspect in washington state earlier this week. the suspect had been wanted in connection with the murder that happened on the 44-hundred block of horseshoe circle on june 11th. police say the suspect was doing yard work for the victim. and living with him at the time of the murder. they say, the suspect used a vase to beat the victim to death. investigators have not yet determined a motive for the killing. >> pam: vallejo police have released photos and a description of the clothing on a body found buried in vallejo. these are the photos of the clothing.the t-shirt is an unknown color at this time. the body was found around seven p-m on july fifth. west of derr street near lemon street the cause of death is unknown and police say the case is being investigated as a possible homicide. the age, race and gender of the victim are unknown.
