has returned to normal. the traffic is flowing again on an estate 580 at the dublin interchange. road work has been picked up. we are not tracking any hot spots. >> we are following a developing story this morning out of alameda where an off duty sheriff's deputy fatally shot a gunman who was trying to rob a grocery store. kron four's mike pelton is live at the "bonfare market" with more, mike. >> and police say that an off-duty sheriff's deputy was off duty at the time. it was about 10:30 p.m. when two armed masked men arrived. the off-duty and deputy got into an altercation and they describe what happened next.

>> the sheriff's deputy was fearing for his safety as well as the two employees. he ended up shooting one of the suspects. the second suspect fled on foot. it is possible that he was also shot. we have not been able to locate him just yet. >> police do have a description of him and they stated that he was seen wearing dark clothing and a mask. both employees and the sheriff deputy is okay. the first suspect, they're checking with nearby hospitals to see if anyone checked in with a gunshot wounds. they're looking to see if there's any surveillance. >> we would check back with mike for >> the investigation continues this morning into a fatal officer involved shooting in vacaville. it all started around 7:00 last night when police got a call about a suspicious

man in south vacaville. officers responded and tried to talk to the man. but he refused and instead led them on a brief car chase. it ended with the suspect getting out of his car and charging officers with three weapons. including a knife and a hammer. that's when police opened fire. killing him. the man's identity has not been released. no one else was injured. >> a community is mourning the death of an eight-year-old oakland girl. we brought you this tragic story live on the kron 4 morning news yesterday. here is what we know. no arrests have made and police don't have a suspect or a motive. they say a man knocked on the door of an apartment just before 11:30 on wednesday night on the 34- hundred block of wilson avenue. then opened fire on the people inside.

8-year-old alaysha carradine was shot and later died at children's hospital oakland. she was visiting her friend for a sleep-over. two other children were also wounded. so was their 64-year-old grandmother. police investigating the shooting say they are determined to catch the >> this is just horrible what happened to them. >> he was voicing what everyone else was thinking. about 40 people gathered at a vigil to remember the 8 year old girl. coming up at 6:15 we will have a live report from the home of the shooting and more on what the community is saying about the violence. >> the san mateo county corner's office will release the results today on how one of the asiana victim died. the report will reveal whether 16-year-old ye mengyuan was killed in the crash or run over by an emergency vehicle.

asiana flight 214 crash- landed at s-f-o on july 6th, killing three people and injuring dozens. the n-t-s-b is still trying to figure out the cause of the crash, but intial investigation show that the plane was flying too low at dangerously slow speeds. >> guilty of taking part in the gang rape of a 16-year- old girl. marcelles peter and jose montano both have been found guilty on all counts forceable rape in concert, rape with a foreign object and forced oral copulation. the incident happened outside the victims school during a 2009 homecoming dance. the victim had been drinking alcohol. police say as many as a dozen men were on the scene when she was raped and beaten. prosecutor john cope says justice has been served. >> the jury has spoken. what

>> watching wall street this morning, futures trading shows all three indexes negative right now. investors are hoping the bulls keep running on wall street today. earnings gains at major u-s companies and encouraging economic news pushed u-s stocks to record levels yesterday. the dow rose 78 points. the nadsaq gained one point. and the s-and-p - rose eight points. opening bell is at 6:30. >> we're also watching global stocks. they have very disappointing numbers. as well as the losses for motorola. google was down 5% now they're down 2.75%. and >> we will learn more about detroit's bankrupt in a

couple hours during a press conference. detroit is a total of 18 billion dollars in debt is the largest u-s city in history to file for bankruptcy. the city's plan is to cut 11-and-a-half billion in unsecured debt -- including pensions-- down to two- billion dollars. that could slash pension benefits and leave investors holding the city's debt. experts blame things like the sharp decline in population and tax revenues.and an unemployment rate of nearly 19 percent. this is going to be a case that will be watched by most around the states. we will have to see what happens. this case of most likely will go to the supreme court. we will have more when this press conference starts. >> bay area housing prices are shooting up the data
