a community mourns the little girl shot and killed at a sleepover in oakland. her name was alasia carradine but everyone who loved her called her lady bug. friends and family spelled out that term of endearment riddled door. that's where the 8-year-old was shot on wednesday night. alay-sia's mother chiquita says her daughter's final words were - quote - i know i am going to die. >>we can take that as something bad and say that

killed and wounded in last year's deadly movie theater shooting on july 20, 2012. 12 people were killed and at least 70 injured after a gunman opened fire inside a packed midnight screening of the batman film "the dark knight rises." the moment of silence was followed by the reading of the names of the more than 25-hundred people who have died in gun-related violence massacre in december. and a couple from aurora, colorado vows to take back a tragic date in the city's history. eugene han and kirstin davis were both injured in the theater shooting. han pulled davis from her twice. davis was also injured. the couple decided to get later on july 20-th. >>the decision was kind of right after the proposal. we were driving back from texas and i asked her if she would want to get married on that date. my thought process was, everyone has a date that they want to get married on, and it means something special to them.

position at hearst in 20-10 after her controversial remarks that israel should get out of palestine. saying that. detroit's plan to fix its economic problems by filing bankruptcy has gone up in smoke. detroit became the biggest american city ever to file for chapter nine protections on thursday. but a michigan circuit court judge on friday ordered the case withdrawn from federal court. the city's plan called for cutting city workers' pension and retirement benefits. and the judge found *that unconstitutional. michigan's attorney general says he plans to appeal the court's decision. lieutenant governor gavin newsom declared a state of emergency in response to the wildfire near palm springs. so far 6-thousand people have been evacuated from their homes, and 5-thousand more are threatened. the fire has grown to 42- square miles and is just 15 percent contained. the state of emergency will free up more state funding and other resources.

lieutenant governor gavin newsom declared a state of emergency in response to the wildfire near palm springs. so far 6-thousand people have been evacuated from their homes, and 5-thousand more are threatened. the fire has grown to 42- percent contained. the state of emergency will free up more state funding and other resources. this will help fight the fire that has already cost over 8 and a half million dollars. a wildfire that broke out near the grapevine section of interstate 5 in southern california has now burned 7- hundred-30 acres. the fire started early friday afternoon. an evacuation order was in place for about two dozen homes, and a shutdown of the heavily traveled stretch of highway was threatened. have been sparked by a roadside tractor-trailer. high winds and severe thunderstorms affecting las and utility poles and flooding parts of the famed strip.
