top stories we are following for you on this thursday, july 25th. an oakland woman is shot and killed while driving her car. we have details on the investigation. we are another day closer to another possible bart strike. how the m-t-c is stepping in to make sure another "service shutdown" does not happen. and we are watching the weather this morning as we take a live look at the approach to the bay bridge toll plaza. let's get a check of the forecast with erica, good morning.

the time. here is traffic. >>janu: >>: not tracking any major problems. let's take a look at our bridge a check. starting off with the west about a bright as you approached the toll plaza no problems to report and also not tracking any delays on- at this time on the san mateo bridge. we are going to finish off here at the golden gate bridge to read a little foggy ride the chicken see no problems to report as well. >>anny:our top story this morning. this is the elderly woman was shot and killed while driving only blocks from her home. this is a new photograph of the 66- year- old woman who has been identified as judy salamon. morning police have not made any arrests in the deadly shooting. it marks oakland's 56th murder of 2013. it appears the woman was shot while she driving in east oakland. as kron 4's jeff bush reports. neighbors say

salamon was an animal lover who was seen daily walking dogs in the maxwell park neighborhood. obamas she lived on this quiet oakland street for more than 20 years. --this woman. >>: she kept to herself. she took care of dogs. all testers her whole family appeared to be dogs and cats. she took care of animals. that was her family. that's not her facebook page shows the love for her dogs that she cared for. she said katz iphone and dogs i foster. this is another dog and his name is bb. she cared for him until he was adopted by a young couple. people who lived by her house say she was a good neighbor with a big heart. >>: she was an elderly lady she drives an old car and

she lives in a house right there she's not what you would classify as a rich or fluent person. perhaps it was i wrong place at around time. >>: people said they can't imagine why someone would want to shoot her in the middle of the day in the middle of the street. her neighbors say that judy will be missed on the block. >>anny:p-g&e crews are still finishing repairs to a gas pathetic line break accidentally ruptured by a construction crew in alamo. the rupture forced road closures and an evacuation of homes and businesses on danville boulevard yesterday morning. this is video taken from our helicopter partnership with abc 7 news. p-g&e stopped the gas leak around 3:30 p-m, and the evacuation order was lifted

shortly afterward. crews had to wait for water service to be restored before completing gas line repairs. meanwhile, another gas leak forced evacuations in oakland's chinatown neighborhood after a man crashed into a house. the accident happened yesterday afternoon on alice and seventh streets. police say, the driver was taken to highland hospital. p-g-&-e crews were able to clamp off an underground gas line. the bay area is now just *ten days away from a possible bart strike. unions and bart management are still far apart at the negotiation table. this is video from our helicopter partnership with abc 7 news of what the lines looked like during the most recent four day strike earlier this month. contingency plans for commuters have been discussed by the metropolitan transit commission. additional ferry's and buses

are likely. again. at most, during the last strike, bart used 79 charter buses a day. they may try and increase that number this time around possibly bringing buses from all across the area.even though, that is a challenge. bart and its unions have until august 4th to come up with a plan to avoid a strike. at this point. the governor has not become involved. a san francisco socialite has been found dead in an apartment near lake tahoe. a process server went to an apartment in gardnerville, nevada on friday. to serve amber bentley an eviction notice. the server found the 34- year-old woman dead in the apartment. police say, it appears she had been dead several weeks, and no one reported her missing. authorities say bently is the former wife of minden businessman christopher bently. the two were active in the san francisco social scene.

now divorced. bentley was a well known jeweler whose work has been featured at several local galleries and spas. her exact cause of death has not yet been determined, but authorities say there's no evidence of foul play. and 62 year-old woman has died from an attack in her apartment. it happened yesterday morning in north san jose. police believe a woman who was not yet been identified died from some type of assault. neighbors said they aren't sure why the woman was attacked and a new heart to be a free spirited person. this is san jose's 30 if homicide of the year. >>anny: the time now is 4 07. we will take a quick break. it is thursday. almost friday. and live without live from the san mateo bridge. some cloudy conditions and also some fog. more details on your forecast we come back creek

most of a 612-acre wildfire north of los angeles that threatened canyon homes near the grapevine area of interstate five. kern county fire officials say the blaze in an area of unincorporated lebec is 75- percent contained this morning. 15 homes were evacuated after the fire began along the side of the freeway on tuesday. we'll be right back on the kron four morning news. looking for an afternoon high today of 66 degrees.

thursday. here's erica with your forecast. >>erica: we have very low clouds and installed a pretty thick closer to the coast line. with a clear conditions for the inland spot and temperatures are still in the upper 60's and '70's. a pretty mild start looks likes most recent skies into the afternoon but the clubs will make a comeback by later on tonight. here's a look at the numbers. take a look at antioch and 72 right now. 60 degrees and fairfield that copper. mix 50s out the door in oakland. fog trochophore shows and to the 8:00 hour of of that cloud cover will burn off for places like livermore and communities along the delta. expect partly cloudy conditions for oakland and hayward. we will still be in the fog along the immediate coast line and as we head into the 12:00 hour looks like a lot of that cloud cover will recede. recondite afternoon highs, in the south bay, sunnyvale at 86 degrees. it looks like we could see some

tracking any problems for your was off 580 ride out of livermore. and the south bay, everything is moving smoothly for your north bound 101 and 280 ride out of san jose. and same goes for your 101 southbound ride through marin county at this time. >>anny: of tampa. the derailment has caused 15 cars to topple over, leading to an ethanol spill. firefighters used foam on the spill to reduce flammability. crews say the operation to upright the cars and clean up the spill will last until this afternoon. no word yet on any injuries. it's being called one of spain's worst rail accidents in a decade. 73 deaths have been reported after a train derailed in north- western spain. officials say at least 140 are hurt.

you can see the damage. one train carraige was split in two. victims were caught inside the toppled cars and were pulled out of broken windows. more than 200 people were on board the train. the u-s house of representatives defeated a proposal to severely limit the national security agency's phone surveillance program. edward snowden leaked classified details of that program to media outlets last month. some lawmakers called the program too broad and intrusive. but their attempt to limit it was narrowly defeated. 217 to 205. a bipartisan senate compromise on student loans is heading to the house-- where lawmakers already have voted to link interest

bridge. we are going to finish off the golden gate bridge as it is a pretty funky role stop for the ride but the roads are clear. >>anny: for thirty is the time on your thursday. a developing story out of oakland. following developing news out of oakland this morning where police are looking for a gunman who shot and killed a woman while she was driving. kron four's will tran is live from the oakland police department with more on the investigation, will? >>will: i can tell you any they don't have any suspects or motive. i continue her neighbors and friends are absolutely stunned by what happened. years video of the scene. this all happened at about one-third in the afternoon. the woman had just left her house, and our car and all of a sudden at least one shot was fired. she never even made it to the top of the hill. instead

issue" that the city faces. tuman, who received only 12 percent of the vote in the 10-candidate race in 2010, said oakland residents should ask themselves if they feel safer than they do in 2011, when quan took office. tuman is department chair and professor of communication studies at san francisco state university. a new field poll finds that 51 percent of california voters say they approve of the job gov. jerry brown is doing and that most are inclined to re-elect him next year. the poll found that men are more likely to support brown, while women are divided. it was based on telephone interviews with 846 registered voters from june 26 to july 21 and has a sampling error margin of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points. p-g&e crews are still finishing repairs to a gas line break accidentally ruptured by a construction crew in alamo. the rupture forced road closures and an evacuation

police say 33-year-old peaches miller is facing extradition on charges that she scammed a sunnyvale divorcee out of almost 850- thousand-dollar. miller promised to protect her from voodoo curses. the sunnyvale woman became convinced that her ex- husband was placing curses on her. authorities say she believed only miller could offer her protection and wired miller checks for thousands of dollars from 2002 to 2010. miller was arrested in

taking a look attaking a look at wall street this morning. futures trading shows all three indexes in the negative this morning. investors are hoping the stock market turns around today. here's a look at how the markets closed yesterday. the dow jones fell 25 points to close at 15,542. the nasdaq rose nearly half a point. and the s and p 500 dropped nearly seven points. san francisco is poised to make it even easier for people to connect to the internet as kron 4's dan kerman reports, a private- public partnership with funding from google will allow the city to put wi-fi in 31 parks and plazas across the city. >>dan: at a news conference
