it's been 60 years since north and south korea signed an armistice that ended combat in the korean war. yesterday, president obama honored the u-s vets at the korean war veterans memorial in washington, while north korea's leader made a surprising public appearance. cristina mutchler has more on the days' events. >> >>"here in america, no war should ever be forgotten, and no veteran should ever be overlooked." veterans and spectators gather on the national mall the 60th anniversary of what is sometimes described as "the forgotten war." the cease-fire signed in 19- 53 left the korean peninsula divided and volatile to this very day. president obama says despite the lack of a formal peace treaty. the war did not end in a tie.

>> as construction continues on bay bridge, the opening date remains in limbo. that's because of those it will take to fix them. but as kron 4's dan kerman explains, a fall opening is not entirely off the table. bay bridge repair and opening 072213 the scheduled labor day earlier this month because a permanent fix to those cracked bolts won't be done until december 10th that's installing a steel saddle. but that doesn't mean labor day is entirely off the table. but a lot of things have to come together and quickly. how is that possible? a panel of engineers has said a permanent fix isn't required to open the new span. in fact they say the first step to making that permanent fix, is good enough and will resolve any safety questions. that first step calls for when one the question is, is that fix, is in place?

a swat team in florida has killing six people. police say this man, 42- year-old pedro alberto vargas shot three men and three women friday night. it happened at an apartment complex in hia-leah. authorities believe a dispute with the property managers led to the shootings. unload more than 30 rounds, and had more ammo with him >"he still had plenty of live rounds of ammunition left with him. had we not this could had been a much greater tragedy" police confirmed reports that vargas was a quiet tenant who lived in the complex with his mom who was shooting. will we back after the break on
