drive time is 23 minutes. >> breaking news this morning out of oakland. two people have been shot at a home on ghormley avenue. this is an active shooting investigation and police are on the scene. we have a crew on the way and will have updates as >> good news for commuters this morning. a-c transit workers have reached a tentative agreement averting a threatened strike that would have happened at midnight. union and management reached terms less than two hours before the scheduled strike. the agreement gives employees a 9-point-5 percent raise over three years, contributions to medical benefits, and health and safety improvements. union management says throughout negotiations, they always kept their riders in mind. the agreement is expected to go to a ratification vote later this month.

homebuyers could feel the pinch if congress follows through on proposals to shut down fannie mae and freddie mac, the government-run mortgage guarantee giants that were rescued by a $187 billion taxpayer bailout during the financial crisis. congressional efforts to overhaul the nation's mortgage finance system got a boost tuesday from president barack obama. borrowers likely would pay slightly higher mortgage rates under house and senate bills that would phase out fannie and freddie over five years and shrink the government's role in insuring mortgage securities. the house republican bill would virtually privatize the mortgage market. the senate's bipartisan plan envisions a continued but more limited government role in insuring mortgage securities. supporters say that would keep mortgages available and affordable. obama's proposals are in line with the senate bill. >> virgin america is reporting a rare quarterly profit, boosted by more people prices. san francisco-based virgin america was founded in 2007 and has yet to post an annual profit. but it has slowed its growth and is aiming to improve its finances. the airline posted net
