talks and used unfair bargaining tactics. >> a woman is dead this morning after being hit by a tractor at san jose city college. it happened yesterday morning at a construction site on the school's campus. this is video from our helicopter partnership with abc 7 news. classes were not in session yesterday. school officials did not release the victim's identity. and would not say whether she was a student or an employee. cal-osha is handling the investigation. >> investigators are following leads into the murders of baby drew jackson and his father andrew thomas. so far, they do not have a suspect in last week's shooting. andrew thomas and his one year old son were sleeping when they were shot to death through a window. >> i just want to note some answers and what was the reason for them doing this. they need to put the guns down and stop the violence from taking our children.

>> the bay area toll authority will hold a public meeting tomorrow to announce a possible opening date for the new eastern span of the bay bridge. the temporary fix for the 32-broken bolts is good enough to open the bridge before other repairs are finished. it is now up to transportation authorities to review the federal government's decision. bridge officials are saying, even if the temporary fix is approved, there are a number of factors that need to be considered before the new span opens. >> there are other factors that have been taken into consideration. how soon can chp get ready. >> cal-trans says it will need a full closure for four- days of the existing bridge to transition traffic from the old span to the new one. >> the l-e-d lights on the new eastern span of the bay bridge have been turned on

and tested despite the opening date still up in the air. kron 4's jeff bush has more on the new lights. >> it's been three years in making.the new lighting for the bay bridge. the new span will be illuminated by 48,000 leds and you can see the roadway will be bright and evenly lit for drivers. the lights are pointed in the direction of travel. jim berns caltrans special projects what that does is give the driver no spill and glare as well as better illuminates the objects that are out in front of them and kinda acts like a second set of headlights from overhead and helps them see what's out in better. >> you can see the housing for the lights are very large but what is not large is the power used to light up the roadway. the new system consumes about 60 percent less light than the conventional lights used on the old span of the bridge. >> berns this is a newer technology. the lights on the old bridge are a high pressure

lose license canada's transportation agency says a u.s.-based rail company whose runaway oil train caused a fire and explosion that killed 47 people in a quebec town has lost its operating license. the agency said tuesday it is suspending the certificate of fitness for the montreal, maine & atlantic railway. the agency says it is not satisfied that the company has demonstrated its third- party liability insurance is adequate for ongoing operations. the parked train, with 72 tankers full of crude oil, was unattended when it began rolling and derailed in the center of lac-mégantic on july 6. several tankers exploded, destroying 40 buildings. the disaster raised questions about the growing use of rail transport for oil. >> another embarrassing stumble by the u.s. nuclear missile force, this time a safety and security inspection failure. the head of nuclear air forces revealed that the 341st missile wing at malmstrom air force base in montana had failed what the military calls a "surety" inspection. that's a formal check on the unit's adherence to rules ensuring the safety, security and control of its nuclear weapons. the 341st is one of three units that operate the air force's 450 minuteman 3 intercontinental ballistic missiles. >>

u-s airways and american airlines are promising to fight back against a challenge to their plans to merge. kron4's grant lodes has the details. the suit argues that an 11 billion would decrease competition. that means said the tickets will be higher to the customers. american and u.s. air ways stated that they are long and that they plan to fight the lawsuit. >> new york city comptroller is calling for a historic change to the city's marijuana laws. john liu is proposing legalizing medicinal marijuana and allowing adults to possess up to an ounce of pot. he also believes the sweeping change would pump more than 400-million- dollars into the city's coffers thanks to taxes and fees placed on drug sales.

they're combing the area looking for more bullets. we do know that multiple bullets were shot. his name has not been released. i had a chance to talk to a detective on the scene and this is what he had to say. >> the investigators are trying to locate. we do not know what the motive was at this time. we had reports of multiple shots being fired but we do not know how many times he was hit. it is so early and they're not even saying that if he was the intended target. it appears that he was the only one that was struck. they're still searching for witnesses. they are waiting for people to get up this morning. they plan to knock on doors to see if they sought a campaign at this

numbers. the dow climbed 31 points ending at 15,451. the nasdaq rose 14 points. and the s and p 500 gained almost five points to end the day at 1,694. we'll be watching the stock market all morning long starting at 6:30 with the opening bell. >> samsung faces brazil lawsuit over labor conditions seoul, south korea - a labor group says samsung electronics co. is facing a lawsuit from brazil's government seeking damages over poor working conditions at the company's assembly lines. samsung said wednesday it brazilian authorities. reporter brasil, a labor rights group, said on its website that brazil's labor ministry found "serious" labor violations including up to 15 hours of work per day and insufficient breaks at samsung's manaus factory. the group said the lawsuit is seeking $108 million in damages. the south korean company was prosecuted in brazil in 2011 over poor working conditions. it has also been accused of hiring children in china and faced a flurry of lawsuits in south korea from workers seeking compensation for health hazards at its factories. >> hyundai recalls 23k santa fe suvs; can lose power detroit - hyundai is recalling about 23,000 suvs in the u.s. and canada because an axle can fail, causing the car to lose power.

the recall affects 2013 santa fe sport models with front-wheel-drive and 2.4- liter, four-cylinder engines. they were built between july 11, 2012 through march 12 of this year. hyundai says the right axle shaft can fail in rare cases. if that happens, the suvs can lose power or roll away if parked on a slope. the company says it's not aware of any crashes or injuries linked to the defect. owners are being notified by letter. dealers will replace the axle shaft free of charge >> chipotle considering change to allow antibiotics chipotle mexican grill is reviewing a change to start using beef that has been treated with antibiotics, but said no decision has yet been made on the matter. the denver-based chain stressed in a press release tuesday that its beef, chicken and pork continues to come from animals that are not given antibiotics or added hormones whenever possible. but it said it's considering tweaking its "responsibly raised" meat standards to allow meat from animals that have been given antibiotics to treat illnesses.
