cal-trans likes to close the bridge on holidays because there are fewer cars trying to cross over it. kron 4's charles clifford is live for us on treasure island with more on that. charles? over labor day 2006, the eastbound lanes of the bridge were closed so crews could demolish portions of the old roadway in san francsico.

one year later, the entire bridge was shutdown over labor day so caltrans could move a 200 foot section of roadway into place just east of yerba buena island. in 2009, there was another full closure over labor day as caltrans finished work on the s-curve detour along the eastern span. then in 2011, the eastbound lanes were closed over memorial day weekend so those lanes could be re- aligned near the toll plaza. the last major planned closure of the bridge was over president's day weekend in 2012 when the west bound lanes were realigned to make room for work on the new span. tonight police in walnut creek need your help in catching the four people who burglarized the tiffany's store downtown. just hours ago we received this new surveillance photo

now at 6. we finally know when the new span of the bay bridge will open. and it looks as though the planned labor day opening is now a reality. here's the latest. the new span is set to open the day after labor day, which is september 3rd. officials will shut down the bridge the night of august 28th to prepare to divert traffic from the old bridge to the new one. that's only 13 days away. the repairs to the bolts are expected to continue through december. kron-4's justine waldman was at today's m-t-c meeting labor day opening. and justine -- are officials rushing things? >> we've got to structures

the police search warrants that reveal a lot about the night of the alleged teenager's family. casey wian has more on this story. grisly new details are surfacing in the alleged kidnapping and murder case of suspect james dimaggio. according to these newly released search warrants, "dimaggio tortured and killed his best friend's wife and eight year old son. shot and killed the family dog." police also say the 40-year-old dimaggio then allegedly set his house on fire and kidnapped the couple's 16-year-old daughter, hannah. who the documents say he spoke with "13 times" on the phone earlier that day. the fbi rescued anderson on

saturday and killed dimaggio during the confrontation. an idaho coroner says he was shot at least five times. now home, anderson has quickly taken to social media to help cope with her pain. most recently posting these pictures to her instagram profile--

. the first glimpse we're getting of her after the she writes: tasks to the strongest soldiers #hannahstrong" she also posted this picture of her mother and brother, writing: "my two beautiful angels" she dedicated this post to them, the piece of paper reading: "in the clouds, i'll meet you again.
