fire that killed five women on the san mateo bridge. authorities have wrapped up their investigation into the fatal limo fire that killed a bride to be last may. the fire broke out as the group was heading to a bridal shower. four passengers managed to escape, in addition to the limo driver. several agencies have been investigating the fire. this is video from the scene. this morning at 9:30 we will be hearing from state senator jerry hill. he will discuss his limo safety bill and the need for limousine safety standards. the report will be released at a news conference at one in the afternoon. you can watch that announcement live on our 24-7 bay area news channel on comcast 1-93. >> the opening of the new span of the bay bridge is a couple of weeks away. officials will close the bridge the night of august 28th. to transition the old span to the new one. the new span is set to open september third, the day after labor day. officials say the broken bolt problem will be fixed and the new bridge is safe for the public. the majority of the work is already done and what remains are the finishing touches.

workers will be hanging some lights, do some painting and apply striping to the roadway. the biggest task for workers is tearing down the old connecting ramps and put the new ones put into place. >> a favorite family fun park is set to close down today. malibu grand prix in redwood city will close its doors permanently tonight at 8. after 35 years here in the bay area. that's where we find kron 4s mike pelton. a bit of nostalgia? >> reporter: absolutely, marty. and they have me chained in here they will not let me get into the bumper boats until they open at 10:00 a.m. it is the final time that they will open and they will be closing permanently tonight at 8:00 p.m. malibu opened its first time in 1979. with millions of people enjoying

>> marty: police are also investigating a fatal stabbing at an antioch gas station. it happened last night around 8 at a chevron station on the 32-hundred block of delta fair boulevard. a 49-year-old man was stabbed several times. he was pronounced dead at an area hospital. police are questioning witnesses, but no arrests have been made. >> a santa cruz surf school owner is now behind bars 32-year-old dylan greiner is charged with two counts of lewd and lascivious acts with children police say a hidden camera in the schools dressing room taped girls changing into their wet suits authorities say greiner also preyed on young girls on the beach. chief of police steve clark says greiner was doing more than training students >> they start off as students in his surf school. he will be friend them, offer them a free lessons.

and he will continue that relationship and offering favors until the point where they bring that relationship to an inappropriate boundary. where he is offering sexual activity with them. >> marty: police say greiner admitted to starting a relationship with two victims when they were 13 and 14 years old. he is being held at the santa cruz county jail on a 500-thousand dollar bail. officials say he's been persuing inappropriate relationships with minors for a least four to five years. police believe there are more victims. officials want to find them and offer psychological care. >> marty: in union city, police are asking the public's help in identifying a person accused of molesting a child. this is a sketch of the suspect. he is described as a white male, mid 50's, standing 6 feet tall. police say he is possibly bald. he has been seen multiple times wearing a tan "fisherman" style hat with a chin strap and eye glasses. police say the suspect could also be involved in other incidents in the bay area.

>> marty: as bay area kids get ready to head back to school. parents' fears about the sometimes deadly allergic reaction to peanuts are leading to some changes in school lunch programs. kron four's rob fladeboe reports, fremont is among the latest school districts to take peanuts off the menu. >> reporter: when school starts later this month here at fremont's irvington high and other schools, a long- time staple of the kitchen and cafeteria will be missing. food service director elsie szeto says anything containing peanuts or peanut products will be gone. >> you have to make sure that we know what the food allergens products are in our foods. and that the students do not eat those.

>> reporter: fremont and many other school districts have banned peanuts because of the potentially deadly allergic reaction some kids have to them. last month a sacramento area teen died after eating a dessert containing peanuts. szeto says the district is making sure none of it's supplies contain any kind of nuts at all. she says peanut residue on someone's hands can easilye passed on to other students. >> a student could have eaten a peanut butter product. the extraction is on that that hand and it could be passed on to a student that has an allergic reaction. that product equipment is still a risk. >> reporter: school officials are encouraging parents, children with any type of food allergies to

>> marty: new this morning-- the petition drive to boot mayor bob filner from office amid sexual harassment allegations is officially underway. it began at midnight. organizers say they expect some volunteers to start gathering signatures right away. but the full effort will begin later today at the finish line of a half marathon and at a "freedom from filner" march downtown. filner has resisted numerous calls to resign from the nine-member city council. house minority leader nancy pelosi says her fellow democrat should step down and spare san diego the pain and expense of a recall election. >> marty: the first civil lawsuit filed against penn state university over the child sex abuse scandal involving jerry sandusky has been settled. this is according to attorney tom kline, who

represents the individual known as sandusky victim number five. kline did not discuss further details about the settlement. but he called it a win-win. he says his client is the first to settle with the university in the case. a number of sandusky's victims still have pending suits against penn state over the scandal. >> marty: lakeside residents come together again to support hannah anderson. the san diego county community held an impromptu carwash fundraiser saturday for the rescued teen. the proceeds will go toward funeral expenses of anderson's mother and younger brother ethan. hannah anderson and her father brett both made a brief appearance to say thank you. this is the second fundraiser that has been held for the anderson family since her rescue one week ago. >> coming of this elderly woman is left without a home when a car came through her c home.....

get a valuable out of now... we will have the county of red tag this property tomorrow. >> marty: battalion chief of wilmar fd and said they are securing the home to allow the resident to get their waiting for pge to assess any hazards before they attempt to pull the truck out. the driver of the truck took off from the crash. c-h-p says they still have this time. >> marty: a pedistrian is dead after being hit by a pickup truck in san jose saturday night. a ford truck was seen hitting a man shortly before 9 p-m near the alum rock and harriet avenues. the truck driver fled the area. but the vehicle is described as a late model, light-colored ford with oversized tires and possibly a red stripe on the hood. c-h-p are seeking the public's help in locating a car connected to a fatal collision. >> milpitas and fremont police continue the search for two suspects in a home invasion robbery. police say two men, armed with handguns broke into a milpitas home on pinard street. it happened around one a-m saturday. the suspects held a couple inside at gunpoint and stole items from the home. an hour later milpitas police stopped a car. but

two people inside fled on foot. police recovered the stolen items from the car. a milpitas officer talks about the search for the suspects. we conducted a search. >> with the police department, we were able to locate the suspects. at this time we believe that these suspects, although they are at large they are still a danger to the milpitas residents in that area. all of the areas were checked. >> marty: and says suspects are not considered threat to milpitas residents fremont police and a swat team searched the area for one street was closed for several hours during the search. the street reopened this morning.but the search for the suspects continues. >> marty: palo alto police have released a sketch of two armed robbery suspects that attacked and robbed a man while he was at a park with his child. it happened on thursday night at robles park. police say the two suspects approached the victim and his child and demanded their belongings. one suspect had a knife,

the other a handgun. according to police, the man was punched in the face and slashed in the arm with the knife. the child was not harmed. the first suspect. is a latino man standing five feet nine inches tall and 180 pounds. the second suspect is described as standing 6 feet tall and 200 pounds. >> there is a ban on fireworks. there was a 16 year-old girl that was killed by a fire truck who was run over. they did not want to know the truth of what really happened >> the new span is expected

the trader joe's chain of grocery stores is suing a man who buys their products in washington state and resells them in canada. the man owns the store "pirate joes" of vancouver. trader joe's doesn't have any stores in canada. so pirate joes sees this as an opportunity to make some money. trader joe's is suing the man for false advertising, copyright infringement and injury to reputation. the company says they'd like to see their canadian customers continue to drive south into the u-s and stop at one of the real trader joe's stores in western washington. a federal judge is orders their entrances. the judge wants the clothing company to make the entrances wheelchair accessible. some of the current store fronts resemble a porch with steps and offer no alternative entrance for the disabled. the lawsuit was filed in 2009 on behalf of several colorado customers. the judge is requiring the rate of 77 stores per year. hollister has until january 2017 to complete the redesign. >> marty: you may soon notice your shrimp scampi has a heftier cost. shrimp prices are soaring because of a disease that's hit prawn producers in thailand, china and vietnam. according to an index measure, white shrimp prices are up more than 50-percent from a year ago to nearly six-dollars a pound. analysts expect consumption to drop in 20-13 from the four pounds of shrimp per person that the average american eats. but another crustacean could fill the void.

channel on comcast 1-93. >> the opening of the new span of the bay bridge is a couple of weeks away. officials will close the bridge the night of august 28th. to transition the old span to the new one. the new span is set to open september third, the day after labor day. officials say the broken bolt problem will be fixed and the new bridge is safe for the public. the majority of the work is already done and what remains are the finishing touches. workers will be hanging some lights, do some painting and apply striping to the roadway. the biggest task for workers is tearing down the old connecting ramps and put the new ones put into place. >> marty: the driver of a truck apparently lost control and crashed into a house in petaluma. it happened early this morning on cleveland avenue near bodega avenue. emergency crews found a full-size pickup truck had smashed through the front door and destroyed the living room. an elderly woman was in bed in a back bedroom listening

the suspects continues. >> marty: palo alto police have released a sketch of two armed robbery suspects that attacked and robbed a man while he was at a park with his child. it happened on thursday night at robles park. police say the two suspects approached the victim and his child and demanded their belongings. one suspect had a knife, the other a handgun. according to police, the man was punched in the face and slashed in the arm with the knife. the child was not harmed. the first suspect. is a latino man standing five feet nine inches tall and 180 pounds. the second suspect is described as standing 6 feet tall and 200 pounds. >> marty: a 4-year-old is injured and one person was killed after a shooting in oakland last night. the 4-year-old suffered injuries from glass derbis during the shooting. a woman was pronounced dead at the scene. a man was also injured.but transported to a hospital and is expected to survive. it happened around 9-30 yesterday night. police are searching for the

suspect. >> police are also investigating a fatal stabbing at an antioch gas station. it happened last night around 8 at a chevron station on the 32-hundred block of delta fair boulevard. a 49-year-old man was stabbed several times. he was pronounced dead at an area hospital. police are questioning witnesses, but no arrests have been made. >> san francisco's fire chief is banning firefighters from using helmet-mounted video cameras. the decision comes after images from the asiana airlines crash were made public. chief joanne hayes-white says the footage violates both firefighters' and victims' privacy. but critics are questioning the motive and timing behind the decision. the images raised questions about the fire department's liability in the death of a 16-year-old girl.who was killed after being run over by a fire truck. the lawyer for the girl's family says he questions why the department would not want to know the truth of what happened.
