good morning, top stories we're following this monday august 19th. truck drivers at the port of oakland are expected to stage a protest today. more on the conditions that has them dissatisfied. we are waiting to hear from investigators about what caused that deadly limo fire on the san mateo bridge back in may. we'll tell you what they are expected to say, coming up. and its back to school time for students in san francisco today. how police are planning to keep kids safe this week. developing story out of oakland. right now, frustrated truck

drivers plan to protest at the port of oakland over conditions they say effect their health and livelihood. kron 's will tran is live at the port to explain. will? >>: there are a handful of truck drivers at this intersection grief they said they plan to be at all of the intersections at the port of oakland. it seems like they are even in solidarity because you can see that driver that light truck, looks like he wants to pull in to pick up his cargo but he can't because about 10 seconds before you came to me, there were some protesters standing in front of me standing in front of his truck and one person was literally try to plug some wires off probably to disconnect his tractor- trailer. overall, we have seen dozens of truckdrivers. here is video that we shop around 520 in the morning. what they want to do is they want to send a message to the port of oakland. one is that they are tired of a long wait. that way time eat

into their profits. they are independent contractors. they're also very upset because there are no bathrooms around here and if they have to wait six to seven hours than they have to be stuck in their rig. they can't leave it because they claim that the fifth-- find $50 if they leave their rig so they have no bathrooms. they're stuck here. they're very upset that they have to pay greenhouse admissions. lot going on but the big thing out of the whole thing we learned this morning is they've told me they don't plan to pick up any cargo here at the port of oakland for the next seven days. i asked them why 30 minutes ago are you doing that because if you don't pick up cargo did not make any money and a spokesman said we are making any money waiting out here anyway so we might as well send a message we're in the process of getting ahold of the port of oakland to see if they saw this coming and their reaction to see what they

saturday 576 "against" to 257 "for" the proposed contract. the tentative agreement included a 9.5 percent raise and increased employee contributions to medical benefits, as well as improved health and safety provisions. the union's negotiating committee will meet soon to >>james:authorities have wrapped up their investigation into the cause of the limousine fire that killed five women on the san mateo bridge. a full report is expected to be released today. in the limo at the time of the fire was a group of friends heading out to celebrate a recent wedding. the newly married bride was one of the victims who died. this is video from our helicopter partnership with a-b-c seven news. four passengers did managed to escape along with the limo driver. >>darya:at 9:30 this morning we'll hear from state senator jerry hill. he will discuss his "limo safety bill" and the need for limousine safety standards.

the san francisco fire chief has now banned helmet cameras after footage of the asiana airline crash was posted online by a local newspaper. the video was captured by battalion chief mark johnson's helmet camera and was published in the san francisco chronicle. that led to questions about whether the department is liable in the death of a 16-year-old who survived the crash but was run over by a fire truck. at the time, the victim was covered with fire-retardant foam. police, the coroner and the national transportation safety board chief hayes-white said her 2009 ban on video cameras in facilities was meant to include fire scenes. critics say that restricting

week. that there are no grounds to hold him now. the news comes as violence continues to escalate in egypt. today, islamic militants ambushed two mini-buses carrying off-duty policemen in egypt's sinai peninsula, killing 25 of them. the killings came a day after 36 detainees were killed in clashes with egyptian security forces. today, diplomats from the european union are meeting in brussels to discuss how the e-u will respond to the violence. and e-u foreign ministers will meet later this week. >>darya:in the u-s, members of congress are split over whether the u-s should cut off military aid to egypt. democrats are generally supportive of president obama's approach. but some republicans, including senator john mccain, are calling for the elimination of military aid.

asking for the public's help in identifying a person accused of molesting a child. this is a sketch of the suspect. he is described as a white male, mid 50's, standing 6 feet tall. police say he is possibly bald. he has been seen multiple times wearing a tan "fisherman" style hat with a chin strap and eye glasses. police say the suspect could also be involved in other incidents in the bay area. police in southern california pay $20,000 to a man who's pickup they riddled with bullets during the manhunt for christopher dorner earlier this year. david perdue was on his way to go surfing in february when he was stopped by officers searching for dorner. perdue filed a lawsuit against torrance police, saying officers rammed his pickup and opened fire without justification. his lawyers claim he injuries. >>darya:the campaign to oust san diego's embattled mayor is underway. volunteers armed with clipboards and petitions are fanning out through the

city, hoping to collect thousands of signatures election that could recall mayor bob filner. petitions started circulating at midnight sunday morning. as you can see in this video. mayor filner is facing more than a dozen sexual harassment allegations. but the 70-year-old former congressman has resisted numerous calls to resign. filner is set to return to work this week after undergoing behavior therapy. >>james:the first civil lawsuit filed against penn state university over the child sex abuse scandal involving jerry sandusky has settled. that's according to attorney tom kline, who represents the individual known as sandusky victim number five. kline did not discuss further details about the settlement. kline says his client is the first to settle with the university in the case. a number of sandusky's victims still have pending suits against penn state over the scandal.

police in britain say they're looking into newly received information about the deaths of princess diana and dodi fayed. this is surveillance video of the couple back in 1997. the pair were killed in a car crash in paris. scotland yard isn't providing details about the new information. only saying that an assessment will be carried out by officers from its specialist crime and operations unit. scotland yard stressed they are not re-opening the investigation into the deaths. in 2008, a british jury found that diana and fayed were unlawfully killed due to reckless speed and drinking by their driver, of paparazzi chasing them. >>james:a bachelor party turns tragic when a man dies in an apparent accident in colorado. authorities say 29-year-old dirk anderson fell to his death early sunday morning. here you see the hotel located in black hawk. according to police, anderson either leaned into or fell into a window

up against the clock to legally voice opposition to the largest bankruptcy filing in u-s history. a federal judge set today august 19th, as the eligibility objection deadline in the bankruptcy petition by detroit's state-appointed emergency manager kevin orr. it's one step in a process that could take months or years to complete if detroit is approved for bankruptcy protection. the city has until september sixth to file its responses. washington already has the nation's highest state minimum wage at $9.19 an hour. now, there's a push in seattle, at least, to make it $15. so far, the city council and mayoral candidates have said they'd consider it in the famously liberal city. but not anytime soon according to one official. supporters say the move would be good for the economy, by putting more money in the hands of

fire. the fire happened about an hour after the a's game started. no injuries were reported. sonoma county law enforcement arrested nearly two dozen people countywide in a sweep targeting alleged dui offenders with outstanding arrest warrants over the weekend. petaluma police say during the operation 19 officers attempted to serve a total of 129 dui warrants, and arrested 23 people. the sweep was conducted as part of a crackdown on drunk driving leading up to the labor day holiday weekend. high winds are fueling a wildfire in northern california that is threatening more than 400 buildings and forcing hundreds of people to evacuate. it's a two-thousand acre fire burning in butte county..about 80 miles north of sacramento

offender who was the last person to see her alive says the two planned to get married. the woman's family says 56- year-old randy alana is a liar. alana is bieng held on a parole violation at santa rita jail. during a jailhouse interview, alana said that he met sandra coke two decades ago while she investigated a murder case. he denied harming her. coke's family said the two dated briefly 20 years ago, but he was under court order to stay away from the investigator. coke disappeared august. 4 after saying she was meeting someone with information about her missing dog. her body was found in vacaville.
