stretch of stintson beach. kron 4's maureen kelly reports. the animal died. shortly before animal rescue workers arrived. mammal center found the 42 foot long fin whale around 7 am monday morning. the 10 ton beast lost it's struggle just two hours laterbefore the rescue team could arrive to try and save it. the next step is to perform a necropsty.to determine exactly how it died. but because the whale is a calfapproximently less than a year old.the leading indicator is that it got separated from it's mother. many people came out to take a look at the unusual sight.hoping that they were going to witness a happier ending.

attack in paradise. surfing just off the east coast of the big island. not too far south of hilo. witnesses say an 8-foot shark bit the teenager across both of his legs. the 16-year old victim was taken to a local fire station - air lifted to a hospital, where he's recovering. the shark is believed to be a gray shark.and officials are warning people to stay out of the area known as the shacks. occicials in helicpoters looked for the shark but could not find it. sunday's shark attack was

now at six. the sad end to the struggle to save a stranded whale. the 42 foot fin whale washed up this morning on stinson beach and died before help could arrive. here's what it looks like right now at stinson beach. workers are still trying to dig the hole big enough to bury the whale. we'll have a full live report on this coming up tonight on the kron-4 news at eight o'clock.
