temperatures are off to a pretty mild to one start. we're talking about plenty of 60's. and that is what is contributing. right now san mateo is as 63 degrees. as with all these numbers into the afternoon you was see that the temperatures will be pretty similar to where they were yesterday. it will be a bright and sunny afternoon. 84 degrees expected for pleasanton. satellite and radar shows clouds over the bay area and we did have a system that was a pack of porsche'impactingf the bay area. we will not see any brain in the bay area but some of the tropical clouds will start to move and as we approached

tuesday and wednesday. it will feel muggy over the next couple of days. your extended forecasts shows that the temperatures will be warmer as we head into tomorrow. a dance you can expect this pattern to continue. in terms of traffic around the bay here is a live look at the approach to the bay bridge toll plaza. you will notice all the lanes are called off due to construction. this is associated with the opening of the new bay bridge eastern span. it was causing delays over the weekend but that is not the case right now. the lanes are expected to open shortly. there is no way at the pay gates. it is pretty hazy over to the san mateo bridge. i want to warn you of the closure of the bay bridge and southbound 101,

the golden gate bridge is looking good. >> in sonoma county we do have an incident where there are down power lines. this is blocking portions of highway 16. as of right now the lanes are closed off and about 3900 people are without power. pg&e hoped to have a are restored by 6:00 this morning. >> we are continuing to watch the latest with the wildfire that's burning in and around yosemite national park. while the fire continues to grow, there was some good news this weekend.some evacuation orders were lifted, allowing people to return to their homes. but we've also learned that the berlekey tuolumne family camp-- a city-owned camp operating since 1922-- burned today in the "rim fire". the extent of the damage to the camp is not yet known. here is what we do know this morning. the fire has burned more than 143-thousand acres. right now the fire is still just seven percent contained.

the governor has issued a state of emergency for the bay area, as the fire is very close to san francisco's water and power supplies, but officials say both remain safe. kron 4's charles clifford is tuolumne county and has an >> right now i am standing in front of the fire station. it has been a very long weekend for the firefighters and residents to deal with this. it is burning and the forecast is high temperatures. firefighters are trying to get this under control. they're trying to build a polarimeter around it. it has been a very tough job. residents of pine mountain lake were under mandatory evacuations, those people were allowed to return home and unfortunately, there are additional evacuation's.

they are concerned about highway, the snores of the burned and some. they stated that may move in that direction. >> stay with kron four as we continue to bring you the latest information on the rim wildfire. we will be providing updates on our 24-seven bay area news channel, comcast 193. we will also be updating our website kron-four-dot-com with all the newest information. >> new this morning. san francisco police are investigating a stabbing. it happened overnight in the city's mission terrace neighborhood. officers responded to the 47-hundred block of mission street around 1:30 this morning. and found a person suffering from a stab wound. the victim was taken to the hospital and is listed in serious condition this morning. police are still looking for a suspect. >> in oakland-- four people. including a 12- year old and an eight-year old were injured in a shooting. oakland police say it

happened around two yesterday afternoon in the 13-hundred block of 104th avenue. the victims were taken to local hospitals. the extent of their injuries are not known. but they are all expected to survive. no suspects are in custody. >> dozens of investigators, some using a search adults, scored an area near oakland's merritt college as they searched for the missing toddler daphne webb. authorities turned up no trace of the 22 month old girl on saturday. police say that they had

planned to surge yesterday but no word on whether that effort turned up anything. her father, john webb, says the someone took the girl after he left her in his car while he would inside a convenience store. >> police in walnut creek are searching for two gunmen who robbed a restaurant. it happened at corner's tavern just after 11 saturday night. police say two men armed with handguns entered a back office. confronted an employee and demanded cash. customers were unaware that the robbery had occurred. a witness said the two men fled on foot, and got into a sliver-colored jeep cherokee. >> coming up next on the kron four morning news. the bay bridge is just two days away from closing to traffic. residents tell us how they are planning to get around the bay area come wednesday. >> plus, jodi arias will return to court today. what we could learn about the *retrial of the penalty phase in her murder case. >> and, conflict in syria continues to rise. just as the united nations makes plans to visit the site of an alleged chemical weapons attack that happened last week. we'll have the latest from

>> recent tests done by caltrans are leading engineers to believe that some at-risk steel fasteners on the new eastern span of the bay bridge will not need to be replaced. caltrans chief engineer says that the tests are going well. the tests started this month and were ordered after 32 rods installed on the new span snapped when workers tightened them in march. the bay area is now just two days until the shutdown of the bay bridge. on august 28th. all lanes will close at 8 o'clock on wednesday night. workers will then transition the old roadway. to the new eastern span. if all goes according to plan-- the bridge will re- open five days later. on tuesday, september third at 5:00 am -- the day after labor day. happening now. some of the toll lanes on the bay bridge have been shut down while crews make way for more fastrack lanes this just days before the bridge is scheduled to close

kron 4's scott rates has the details. >> they are working on all lanes and this is due to some of these traffic lanes. all of this is just a precursor to what will happen later on in the week. the bridge will shut down completely august 28th until september 3rd. today i asked people what their plans are once it is shut down. >> my girlfriend works in san francisco. if she is going to have to figure out how she's on the door. >> i can plan ahead and just off the road. >> i will like to go and work for bridge myself. it can wait. >> we would just have to get through a lot we get through everything else.

turn our attention to the north bay and this speeds are below 50 mi. per hour. >> convicted fort hood gunman begins sentencing phase fort hood, texas - the army psychiatrist convicted of the 2009 fort hood rampage is starting the sentencing in the u.s. military justice system. maj. nidal hasan on monday the texas army post where jurors last week convicted him of the deadliest mass shooting ever on a u.s. military installation. the 42-year-old hasan will spend the rest of his life in prison at a minimum. but prosecutors want the death penalty and will make their case by putting about 20 people on the witness stand. many of those will be relatives of the 13 people killed in the attack. hasan hasn't indicated whether he will address jurors before sentencing. jurors must be unanimous to sentence him to death. >> this morning. jodi arias, the woman convicted for killing her boyfriend in 2008, is expected to be back in an arizona courtroom. the jury failed to reach a decision on her sentence. so a date for a new sentencing phase could be set today. a new jury will also be

selected. but the first degree murder conviction still stands. so does the jury's finding that arias murdered travis alexander in a cruel manner. arias faces the death penalty or life in prison. >> seven of jerry sandusky's victims including his adopted son have reached settlement agreements with penn state university. sandusky, who is a former assistant football coach at penn state, was convicted last year on 45 counts of child sex abuse. the university faces some 30 lawsuits and has set aside 60 million dollars for payouts. the amounts of the settlements are being kept confidential. in a statement, university officials say "we recognize settlements cannot erase what has happened, but we hope the victims of jerry sandusky find some degree of justice in the university's response." >> tensions in syria boiled over last week after gruesome video surfaced showing dozens bodies, including those of women and children, following a reported chemical weapons attack. over 100,000 people are believed to have died so far in syria's civil war. military options and now, there is global speculation over what could happen next. katie murray has the story.
