between vallejo in/out of sonoma and also the alternate highway 92 san mateo decent through the 880 through a word. and just 30 minutes from a word to san francisco this is not related to the bay bridge closure. the 101 south crashed with an injury brought that is blocking with injuries. and now, janu? >> good morning. some coastal fog and as we go for this afternoon some cool and some sprinkles on your holiday forecast. back to marty. >> marty: construction continues with the new span continuing to open at 5:00 a.m.only on kron 4.

there is a press conference moments away. >> reporter: correct. i spoke with the bridge spokesperson and i tried to get him to get the cat out of the bag. will it be opening before 5:00 a.m. on tuesday but there is always a chance. the good news is that there is not behind schedule. exclusive video this morning of workers installing the bike path on the new span of the bay bridge. this is just another step towards completing construction and getting that bridge open on tuesday morning. construction on the bay bridge continues. and so far, the work is on schedule. the new span is set to open they will do some final preparations such as

repainting and light installations. there are no problems because of this is labor day weekend we can see there are no problems. >> marty: will tran has the conference, like. >> we have a quick update on the bay bridge. and of course you can go to bay bridge media on the web to get the latest entry regarding the progress. and we are going to start on the western span all maintenance has scheduled for this weekend has been completed. the working crews are wrapping it up. the western

span looks great and at the yera buena tunnel it could be great. with pressure washing, repaving and it is now they are moving on to striping in and out with the new eastern span connection. the demolition work is substantially completed. that is 1,000 ft. of the westbound approach of the original eastern spent the are demolishing that 100 ft. section it to put a temporary pike connector. tuesday, at noon, they can start using the -- bicycle connector. the demolition has been substantially completed to calm the media. and even pieces of the temporary bike path have already been installed. at the toll plaza, the repaving

has been completed on the westbound and they are well into pavement striping. they are wrapping up the paving on the east bound and it will start striping later today. this weekend, they have brought and 16,000 t of asphalt. again, everything is looking good we are on schedule for the 5:00 a.m. on tuesday morning. that is the construction of great do we have any questions? >> reporter: what is left to be completed? >> as right now, the half to complete the pavement striping. and then direct the barrier to help with the flow of traffic that is predominantly it. the striping is still a bit timing depended because you eat it too dry. because you need-to peak too dry and also, the demolition has

almost been completed. we could not open the bridge to traffic and still of the demolition taking place. it is far too close to the new bridge but that works with the critical path and we are working on a temporary bike pconnector and again at the toll plaza of the repeating is completed on the westbound. with repaving completed on the westbound and we have not encountered any problems because the typical slowdown is that you would have on any construction project. perhaps the demolition want a little bit slower than indicated but they have not had run into any issues. that is why we have a little bit of some time. with no

it is so new they you can smell the casmell the tar.. possibly, you could even open this bridge earlier. and joining me is andrew gordon the bay bridge spokesperson. what still needs to be done? >> here at the toll plaza. the westbound lanes the pavement striping. it appears that it is nearly done. beyond the toll plaza and along the bay bridge they are wrapping up the paving of the east bound and they are going to be striping there, soon. once they are done they are going to just create a barrier rail. >> reporter: there is a drainage system on the other side of the toll plaza?
