>> good morning, top stories we are following for you on this tuesday, september 3rd. the bay bridge is back open this morning after being closed for nearly a week, while caltrans made the transition from the old span, to the new eastern span. and if you are wondering what the entire new span of the bay bridge looks like. we'll take you on it-- and show you what it looks like when you are driving across the new span. we are also watching bay area weather and traffic this morning as we take a live look from our walnut creek camera. >> we are starting off with a live look from the roof cam overlooking the san francisco skyline. overall

it is pretty clear outside. we are not seen any areas of drizzle. it will be sunny with cooler weather compared to what we saw yesterday breadth bay area summer is on the way. the temperatures will be close to the triple digit mark as we head towards the end of the week. do points are a little bit high this morning and the visibility as high as well. it is 63 degrees out the door in oakland. all of the moisture continued to work its way east. we're also dealing with a sub tropical clouds. your 7 day around the bay high lies heavier fall all over the next couple of days primarily

wednesday into thursday. the temperatures will start to rise saturday and you can expect saturday to be the warmest day of the week. you can now drive across the eastern span of the bay bridge and here is a live look outside. everything is looking good. you concede that the traffic is a little bit busier. the san mateo bridge you will probably see a lighter dry because the bay bridge is now open. we do have a stalled vehicles sitting on the shoulder. the flashers are on and is not impacting your ride. here is a live look at the golden gate bridge southbound 1 on one. >> the new, six-point-four billion dollar eastern span of the bay bridge is open to traffic after years of

delays and cost overturns. the c-h-p conducted a final security check and the span, along with the rest of the bay bridge opened around 10:30 last night. just in time for this morning's commute. the reopening follows five days of closures as crews completed striping, railing, and other final details on the new span. the section of the bridge it replaces was damaged 24 years ago during an earthquake and was found to be seismically unsafe. it was a day of celebrations and speeches. this is video from our helicopter partnership with a-b-c 7. community leaders and bridge officials made it a splashy opening yesterday. including a traditional chain cutting ceremony. kron'4s dan kerman has the

water, yes, you could actually see it. if you look south you can see the old eastern span. this is something very old. but certainly it is a sight to see. when you get closer to the tunnel it might not look the same. you was see what could be described as one of the best scenic shots and john barretin town. if i was one and i would spend all day and looking up with these tables. ok, back to the road, back to the toll plaza. there are a thousand foot section of the old bay bridge that was taken apart. who would have thought that all of this would be in a 10 minute drive. >> stay with kron 4. we'll keep you updated on the bridge

danville and pittsburg. upper 70's for vallejo. downtown san francisco who have a high of 68 degrees. >> your 7 day around the bay highlights cooler weather for the next couple of days. it will be a little bit cooler than where we should be a take a look at the end of the week, we will see more of offshore winds and that means warmer conditions. temperatures will be getting closer to 100 degrees. as for traffic around the bay is a great time to head to the bay bridge. >> the bay bridge is a back open. you concede that the traffic is busy, from the east shore freeway. everything is looking good. the eastern span is a beautiful bridge and i would certainly take that trip if i could. that means that we will not see the high volume at the san mateo bridge.

action depend on the votes of a fractured u.s. congress. hanging over obama's three- day overseas trip will also be his tense relationship with russian president vladimir putin , the world leader who has perhaps done the most to stymie international efforts to oust syria's bashar assad. the timing of the international meetings pulls obama away from washington just as he's seeking to rally lawmakers to back military action against syria in retaliation for what the obama administration says was a chemical weapons attack. >> former n-b-a player dennis rodman is headed back to north korea. there were reports he might try to negotiate the release of u.s. citizen kenneth bae. but rodman's reactions have been mixed. he denied the rumors to reporters in beijing. but he told the huffington post last week the subject may come up. rodman also said if helped with the release he'd be "the most powerful guy in the world" bae was sentenced to 15 years hard labor in february for allegedly helping with "hostile acts" against the country. this is rodman's second visit to north korea this year. >> the japanese government announced a huge overhaul

>> it just became easier to get a conceal and carry permit in texas. new laws mean fewer classroom hours. gun owners used to have to take 10-15 hours, now its 4- 6. they can also renew their registration online instead of taking more classes. supporters say the extra classes didn't make a difference. critics are worried it will make for less safe gun owners >> the marines corps says its recruiting web site was tampered with and redirected. with a plea for americans to fight with the syrian army. a marine corps spokesman says the marines' recruiting website was tampered with and redirected temporarily, but no information was put at risk. capt. eric flanagan wouldn't say who was responsible for the hacking, but the site was redirected to a message from the syrian electronic army, a hacker group that's claimed responsibility for disrupting the new york times website, twitter and other media sites the group sees as sympathetic to syria's rebels. the message to the marine corps was a plea for americans to fight alongside the syrian army and not aid the rebels. president barack obama is seeking congressional approval for u.s. military intervention in syria in response to the suspected august chemical weapons attack on syrian rebels who are trying to oust syrian president bashar assad from power.

to drive my hot rods. here we go, my first thought was open and. this is something to look at and the water, yes, you can actually see it. why should it closer to the tunnel you to look south and see the old eastern span. this is something to look at. certainly, it is a sight to see. we get closer to the tunnel, the road may not look out of the ordinary but looking to the west you can see what can be described as one of the scenic views and tom.in town. >> i swear, if i was not driving i would spend all day looking up at these tables. back to the toll plaza, there is still one thing to see, the thousand foot-long section of old

>> the bay bridge is back open this morning and you can see all the cars that are heading there. you will notice that most of the traffic is coming from the east shore freeway. it is shaping up to be a typical commute. the traffic will be lighter on the san mateo bridge due to everyone heading to the bay bridge. here is a live look outside the golden gate bridge. it is problem free as you work your way out of the north. >> firefighters are getting a better handle on the wildfire in and around yosemite. here are the latest numbers. more than 235-thousand acres have burned. the wildfire is 70-percent contained.that's up from 60- percent earlier.
