>> pam: just days away now. from the three year anniversary of the p-g&e gas pipeline explosion. that killed 8 people in the city of san >> pam: kron 4's maureen kelly shows us what has changed. and the >> reporter:this is what the blast sight looked like three years ago.blacked trees and a massive hole where the intersection of glenview drive and earl avenue. the blacked shells of what used to be family homes.the streets littered with burned out cars. >> reporter:today.many new homes stand where the ruins used to be.and their original owners have moved back home.the city says 16 of the 38 burned out houses have been rebuilt.while another five are still under construction.like this one here.but you can still see many lots remain empty.there are currently 16 vacant now. 12 homeowners have told the city they are not coming back.some of them where people killed in the blast used to live. four more are still undecided. some lots have been bought back by the city and pge.who will select a developer to build new homes.construction is expected to start this

improvements. >> pam: he also advocates for an independent monitor. to ensure the utility company follows its own safety plan. and he wants five- million dollars a year spent to pay for a california pipeline safety trust, to advocate for pipeline safety. >> this is a nationwide issue. >> catherine: it's been a day since diana nyad staggered out of the water in florida after a record-breaking swim. the 64-year-old became the first person to swim from cuba to florida without a protective cage. she says she pushed through pain and constant vomiting. and passed time by counting in different languages.and singing neil young songs to herself.
