>> reporter: new tonight. a san francisco city worker is now charged in a deadly hit- and-run accident. the woman was killed while sunbathing with her baby at a park in bernal heights. this was the scene yesterday afternoon. police say, she was hit by a

e twty was closed back on august 17th when the rim fire started burning out of control. even though the highway is now open, cars will not be allowed to stop along the roadway. also, most of the side roads and trailheads that connect to 120 are still closed to the public. inside yosemite national park, 120, which is also called tioga road, remains closed between crane flats and white wolf. drivers entering the park using highway 120 *will be able to access the yosemite valley. finally, officials say that there's still active wildfire in the area and drivers are being asked to use extreme caution. they are also reminding people that fire fighters are working along the highway. in the newsroom, charles clifford kron 4 news. >> catherine: family members today claimed the body of ariel castro. the convicted cleveland kidnapper committed suicide in prison tuesday night. nbc has now obtained tapes from his f-b-i

interrogation. they include his claim that he called the mother of one of his kidnap victims -- years before his dungeon was discovered. within hours of ariel castro's arrest in may. fbi agents brought him into this interrogation room. where he began admitting what he'd done. he seemed surprised by what he had gotten away with for so long. saying that when he abducted gina dejesus in 2004. surveillance cameras at her school should have captured him 15 minutes before he grabbed her. and when he first kidnapped michelle knight. he says a girlfriend visited the house -- and asked why she heard a t-v in an upstairs room. he said he was sure she'd realize something was wrong. and then - the strange story of how he says he used amanda berry's cell phone to call her mother years ago -- hanging up before the woman could respond. >> ".i hung up so we didn't

the g-20 summit in russia wrapped up today. with president obama joining other world leaders for photo." his efforts to get other world leaders on board for a strike on syria had mixed results. he had a private meeting today with russian president vladimir putin. but neither budged on the issue of syria. in fact, putin made it clear that he'll continue to help syria unless he gets what he considers definitive proof that chemical weapons were used. ten of the g-20 members joined the u.s. in accusing syria of the attacks. they called for a strong international response -- but stopped short of endorsing military action. meantime. the president will make his case for military action in syria in a speech to the american people tuesday night. he's acknowledging deep divisions at home and abroad. among house members who are willing to give their positions on the matter -- opponents of military action outnumber supporters by six-to-one. that could still change. since about half the house and a third of the senate remain undecided. president obama did not
