that's normally a bastion of safety. but for reasons that may never be known, a former navy reservist cut their live short when he went on a shooting rampage at wayne state's--washington's navy yard on monday. 12 families were left anguished. steph a >> a child is recovering this morning after being hit by glass in a shooting in oakland. the incident happened yesterday afternoon at around five or oakland for bill neighborhood. when police arrived they found a car with the back windows shot out. five year-old and a woman suffered minor injuries by the flying glass. never said the area said the shooting is very scary. police believe that they were at the wrong place at the wrong time. no suspect or suspects have

welcome back now. time now is 410. east palo alto police are looking for a woman who hit a blind man and his service dog and then took off. reverend albert mclennan says he was walking on your street when a car back into him at about 8:00 monday night. the car knocked him over and trapped his dog under the bulk of the car-to-bumper of the car. the woman driver stopped to see if mackerels

ok. she said she was going to move the car, then instead she took off. -- reverendalbert macklin. that's when macklin had to call 911. the reverend is no sore but him and his dog are going to be ok. a >> convicted serial killer joseph naso it's the death penalty from a marin county superior court jury. 79 year-old naso was convicted in august of murdering four women between 1977 and 1994

and dumping their bodies in rural areas. it took the jury only a matter of hours to recommend that naso be put to death. the district attorney says that's because the evidence against him was so strong. nextel has not admitted to any of those crimes. the judge will have the final say. sentencing will be held at the superior court in marin county on friday. a former morgan hill ymca employee is now facing five charges on its child sexual abuse. the charges against nicholas lhermine include a tax on a seven year-old girl and a three and a half year-old girl. the alleged attacks happened while he worked at a ymca child care program this past summer.

the toy year-old was arrested in july after a six year-old reported that he tried to force her to have sex. nearly a decade old battle between contra costa county and chevron up over taxes has been settled. supervisors unanimously approved an agreement between the two entities over the taxable value of chevron's richmond refinery between the years 2004 and 2013. under the agreement, the refineries taxable value for 2012 will drop from 3.8 $7 billion to 3.2 $8 billion. chevron also agreed to forgo an $8 million refund that would

parts of mexico are devastated after two storms that touched down at nearly the same time. heavy rains caused by hurricane in grid on the country's gulf coast and tropical storm manual on the pacific coast have left more than 1 million people without homes. rescue efforts have been affected by flooding roads, landslides, and collapsed bridges. officials said the death toll stands at 47. but while the rain has stopped, some parts of, or are still seen severe flooding. people are returning to their flooded neighborhoods and some are finding they know what happened home. statewide, nearly 18,000 homes have been damaged. hundreds of people are still unaccounted for the officials think most of them are ok. state emergency officials have revised the statewide death toll from eight to six.

it's now been confirmed that the huge boardwalk are in new jersey was accidental. investigators have linked it to electrical wiring and equipment damaged by superstar sandy nearly a year ago. they now know that the fire began under a building that housed a candy store in ice cream stand parade the announcement comes five days after the fire destroyed more than 50 boardwalk businesses. the fire wrecked some of the places that had just been repaired after sandy. nobody was seriously injured and the fire. a fire near the fuel tanks and boston's logan international airport has been put out. the incident shut down refueling operations yesterday evening, meaning planes could not be revealed in boston. here for official said 15 percent of departing flights were delayed or canceled. the report did not know when the repairs would be compelled-just completed. there were no injuries.

>>anny: republican leaders of the house are poised to use a routine temporary government funding bill to try and get the senate to the real president of obamas health care law. it's a risky move for the gop who could find themselves bearing the blame for any partial government shutdown their results from an impasse. the senate looks ready to reject republican move. as the irs is taking on new responsibilities include implementing president obamas new health care law. a new report says the agency is getting fewer tax collections. the reports of collecting from delinquent taxpayers drop for the second year in a row. baxter enforcement revenue dropped by $7 billion. at the same time, the irs is opening more delinquent taxpayer accounts then it is closing. the agency has for about 8000 jobs since 2010.

today, a house committee will hear plans occurred get--to occur but gases blamed for global warming. those plans include a revised proposal that would set the first-ever limits on carbon dioxide from new build power plants. the proposal is likely to be more lenient on coal burning plants but would still make it very difficult for energy companies to build a plant in the u.s.. to meet the limits, power plants would have to capture carbon and brigit underground. not a single power plant in the u.s. has done that because it's expensive. we have officially hit 8000 consecutive days that the average price of gas will cost more than $3 a gallon. aaa says the street started on december 23, 2010 and the estimate that unless there's another recession, high gas prices may be here to stay.
