facredwood >>anny: 403 is the time. a tight knit bay area community is mourning the loss of a 12 year old boy. burgess hu was on his bicycle on his way to school when he was hit and killed right in front of excelsior middle school in byron monday morning. the driver. had just dropped off her own children when police say she ran over hu while pulling out of the school's driveway.

as kron 4's alecia reed reports, the principal says they're praying for both families involved in the tragic accident. >> candles burned as hundreds of people showed bob to pray for burgess hugh. pit friends tell us he rode his bicycle to and from school every day and this tragic accident left many morning the loss of their dear friend. this is what they remember most about him. >> full of energy and he would pump everyone up going to miss that. every time he walked out that classroom came back and. would you like my pencil?. and he would always say pencils make you do work at work makes you succeed. >> he was just so exciting.

so enthusiastic. he always wanted to come to school and he was always happy and he didn't care what anyone else said. >> to make me not cry i want him to see me happy. because he was always happy. >> the school will continue to make brief counselors available to students brought the end of the week. reporting and byron, a leasing reid, kron 4 news. >>james: san leandro police are hoping surveillance video will lead them to a suspect seen beating a manager at a safeway store. take a look. the attack happened monday morning at a safeway store in san leandro. you can see the suspect and the manager getting into what looks like an argument. the suspect then punching the manager and running.

sees the video will be able to identify the suspect. one employee says he's known the manager for years and hopes his friend will be back soon. >> we don't know at this point. an >>james: the suspect in this case is an african american man. about 20 years old. 5 feet ten inches tall with an athletic build. >>anny:a bay area family is mourning the loss of a father. 75-year-old robert wollow -- died after an s-u-v ran into his car in oakland late monday night. two juvenile suspects are in custody. officers are now investigating whether they were fleeing the scene of a shooting. only on kron 4-- justine

a candlelight vigil was held in livermore last night. for a chico state nursing student. who, doctors say, is brain dead

after she was struck by an alleged drunk driver over the weekend. kristina chesterman, of livermore is in a coma just six months after her brother was seriously injured in a chico attack. tyler may reports. >> i tried. i felt justified in pursuing this. >> this is santa chester man standing next to her daughter christina a month ago explaining the choice of justice being served for son daniel. you will recall that daniel was punched in the face by rodney freeman back in february in chico. he was in town to visit cristina. freeman and eventually tweeting about the attack leading to a no contest plea and now heartbreak again for the tester and family after christina was hit by an alleged truckdriver late sunday night >> the cops call me at 620 and told me she was to buy a truck driver and it did not look like she was going to

make it. >> christina's room and said she saw christina at her home before heading to the library to study for a test. >> she wanted to be a nurse. she was the best. she made the most amazing nurse. >> at the library she made great to go around 330 and study for hours. i decided to stay a little bit longer and she wanted to go home. >> it was on her way home that christina was it. we learned monday that she is now in a coma. her parents tell us they don't expect her to survive. >> all my dad. she was the best. no one will be able to replace her. >>anny: police have arrested the suspected drunk driver.19- year-old riley hoover. he is facing several felony charges.

>>james: asiana airlines is being investigated again. this time-- the airlines post- crash plan is being scrutinized. the federal government is questioning whether the airline provided support for the families of passengers in the s- f- o plane crash that killed three people.. it is the first time the u- s department of transportation has been concerned enough to review an airline's handling its legal obligation to post- crash services. governor brown has signed legislation calling for development of a statewide earthquake early warning system. senate bill - 135-- requires the state office of emergency services, to

connection-- a petsmart store in san carlos. kron 4's scott rates shows us the strange twist. >> this pence march behind me is a very popular place to bring their pets. but customers never thought that there would be given a burglar a direct inside to their house. it was an employee who allegedly was tipping off the thieves by giving them information about customers who were using aborted services here at pet smart. investigators said that the burglar is knowing that the homeowners will be out of town and that there would be no dogs around would then break into these homes with that information. police were able to arrest 23 year-old ashley kirk. investigators say it was kirk who was working at this pet smart and was tipping off those thieves. detectives have this message for customers per it >> you have to live your

having sex. with a 17-year old minor. police say. hugo cortes guzman, was arrested on tuesday after being interviewed at the santa clara police department. santa clara high school officials say, guzman has been placed on a leave of absence. authorities say, guzman was booked into santa clara county jail. on multiple counts of unlawful sex with a minor. an investigation is underway. for over 60,000 california foster children,

mourning the loss of a father. 75-year-old robert wollow -- died after an s-u-v ran into his car in oakland late monday night. two juvenile suspects are in custody. >> i 75 years old robert lived his days with love. one son told me his dad's life should not have ended this way. >> he was a very hard working person. he loved taking care of himself and his family and that's what he loved to do. >> on monday night while was just two blocks away from his home when oakland police said two teenagers speeding away from a shooting smashed into a subaru telling wallow. what was coming home from his job at a senior citizen home where he watched after the elderly. his youngest son is stunned by the senselessness of his dad's death. >> this terrible to find out

several pleasanton teenagers have been brought in for questioning-- regarding the brutal beating of 51- year old david lamont. just after midnight on saturday, lamont confronted a group of juveniles. about the noise they were making outside his home. a short time later, his wife found him unconscious on the sidewalk. now a neighbor tells kron 4, he may have witnessed the suspects driving away from the scene. pleasanton police say, the teenagers who may be involved in the beating, are currently enrolled in the city's two high schools. lamont remains in a coma as a result of his injuries. >>anny:san leandro police are hoping surveillance video will lead them to a suspect seen beating a manager at a safeway store. take a look. the attack happened monday morning at a safeway store in san leandro. kron4's will tran has an update. a >>

kron 4's will tran joins us live from the store with surveillance video of the attack. >>will: for some reason at 11:00 in the morning this man at hits of the manager and head. it wasn't that that necessarily did the most damage. the manager collapsed onto the ground. he said the hospital this morning. he is recovering from his injuries. nonetheless the suspect flees a the same we got a chance to talk with the san leandro police department. here's what they have to say about the attack. >> we are pretty confident someone maybe not a friend or family member will see it that's moved by it but maybe even another officer from a different jurisdiction or someone who's dealt with this subject in the past

following developing news out of kenya this morning where mall attackers claim that 137 hostages have been buried in rubble as kenyan forces demolish the building. so far, 61 people have died in the attack that started last week and last four days at a mall in nairobi. al-shabab militant group claims that the kenyan government used explosives in carrying out a ""demolition" of the building. a spokesperson with the kenyan government denies
