133,000 inmates in state prisons. the inmates were protesting conditions for gang leaders held in isolation at pelican bay and three other prisons. prison officials say they already have charged the rules to limit use of the isolation units and let gang members are in their way out through a good behavior. governor jerry brown has signed a bill allowing nurses and physician's assistants to perform an early type of abortion. the method is called " aspiration abortion " and it involves inserting a tube and using a suction to terminate a pregnancy. organic montana of vermont and new hampshire already allow nurse practitioners to perform those abortions. supporters of the bill says it will help expand abortion services in areas of the state with few physicians. some republican lawmakers argue the legislation will further put patients at risk. we will be right back.
