story for the second time in two days, a dry ice explosion was reported at l-a- x.causing a huge disruption rene marsh has the latest. >> reporter:well it happened last night at the bradley terminal at los angeles international response. the bomb squad and police responded to the scene. now, no injuries have been reported, and police say the restricted area where last night's dry ice bomb went off was not accessible to the gate area in the terminal. police also tell us it is still early in the investigation, but at this point there is no link to terrorism, but what's so peculiar about all of this is this is the second dry ice explosion set off at the same airport in just as many days. just the day before, sunday night, dry ice in a plastic bottle exploded in an employee restroom causing a brief shutdown of terminal 2. no injuries in that incident either. at this point, no word of any arrests. reporting in washington, i'm rene marsh. >> catherine: a suspected terrorist has pleaded not guilty to terror charges in

federal court today. abu anas al-libi is accused of playing a part in the 1998 bombings of u-s embassies in kenya and tanzania. this is his neighborhood in libya.where he was recently arrested. al-libi was brought to the u-s after being questioned on a u-s warship. >> catherine: a family tragedy aboard a cruise ship-- a six-year-old florida boy drowned in a ship pool. john berman has the story. >> reporter: it would be a nightmare for any parent. a family vacation turns tragic when a six-year-old drowns in a pool aboard the carnival cruise ship "victory" on the last leg of a four-day caribbean journey. >>"i saw the little boy with his family enjoying himself. out of nowhere i heard all of this commotion and i realized it was the same little boy that i had seen playing with his older brother and his mother and his father." >> reporter:the young boy was swimming with his 10- year-old brother when the cruise ship's d-j saw him

struggling just before 5 p-m on sunday. >>"the dj announced that someone was drowning. and someone jumped in and pulled him out." >> reporter:these photos taken by a passenger on board show people feverishly trying to resuscitate him. >>"i actually lifted the boy up. i actually helped prop his body up in proper position so they could perform the cpr." >> reporter:sadly, the efforts were not enough. police say the drowning appears to be accidental. >>"everyone was crying. the family was distraught. they had to pull the mother away and the father. the father was next to his son, pleading and begging his son to stay alive." >> reporter:the cruise lines said in a statement: "carnival extends its heartfelt sympathy to the family during this very difficult time. the company's careteam is providing assistance and support." >> reporter:cruise operators are not required to have lifeguards on duty.

(male announcer): this is the bay area news station, kron 4 news starts now. >> catherine: bay area commuters are bracing for the worst. with two transit strikes looming. a-c transit employees are threatening to walk off the job thursday while bart management and its unions are trying to hammer out a deal. kron4's dan kerman is live in oakland. >> reporter: the two sides are still at the bargaining table and we hope that they are making progress. both sides agreed that they did make progress then. back at the bargaining table and we do hope that they're still making some progress but they both agree that they're still a lot of ground to cover. one thing we do not

know if trains will run tomorrow. union state that they do not make progress is still a possibility if they do not meet a particular deadline that they could strike. there is still no agreement and they're still unsure as if the trains will run tomorrow. >> catherine: and now the latest on the threatened a-c transit strike. workers say they'll walk off the job thursday if there's no deal. kron4 just got the response from union officials to managements request for a 60-day cooling off period. >>it's in the governor's hands if he wants to give us a sixty day cooling off period. i mean our members do have the right to strike unless they get the cooling off period and then hopefully we be able to sit down in sixty days and negotiate a livable contract for our members. hopefully that's their intent to get a cooling off period so that we can sit down and negotiate.
