has risen over 36-hundred. officials say right now the number dead is 3.621 hist that's a jump of more than 12-hundred from the previous toll of 2,360 that was announced earlier this week. the new figure has surpassed the estimated 2,500 deaths that president benigno aquino iii had predicted. meanwhilek, the pace of aid efforts in the disaster zone has picked up over the last 24 hours. foreign governments are dispatching food, water, medical supplies and trained staff to the region. sheriff's deputies are investigating a deadly shooting in the east san jose area. they went to a report of a

shooting on south white road near woodhaven drive late last night. deputies found one victim. shot and on the ground. that man was pronounced dead at the scene. the shooting happened in an unicorporated part of the city. the santa clara county sheriff's office is handling the investigation, and has not released any information about suspects or a motive in the case. just when you thought bart negotiations were over. a new development threatens

approval of the tenative contract. bart directors say they believe there is a provision in the contract that they did not agree to. it involves a provision which allows six week paid family medical leave. a bart official says this is something management never agreed to. bart's a- t- -u union released a statement last night saying this development is quote "unconscionable". the union says quote, "we negotiated in good faith for six months. bart management is now attempting to go back on agreements it made in july and august and that were part of the final deal." bart's directors will have a review session on the contract today. and will have a final vote next thursday. let's get an update with weather. at the morning erica. >>erica: the morning james. we will see mid-60s down the east bay shoreline today. downtown's san francisco checking and with a high of 62. you will see not much of

a developing story out of hercules. an intense fight at the middle - high school is getting plenty of attention after a school board member says one of the students involved may identify as transgender. if so, the fight could be considered a hate crime. one student at the school spoke to kron-4' s philippe djegal. about what might have led to the fight.

police say he was targeted because he was wearing a skirt. his parents say he does not gender identify as male or female. family friends and supporters walked the route of the a-c transit bus fleischman was on in oakland, when the incident occurred last week. a 16-year old boy has been charged as an adult in the attack. and the incident being treated as a hate crime. new this morning. restaurant and retail workers at oakland international airport are planning a holiday strike.

after receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspect fled on foot east on mount diablo boulevard. when officers arrived at the bank, they set up a perimeter, and conducted a search with a k-9, but could not locate the suspect. during the search, several nearby schools were locked down. the suspect is described as a man, about 5 feet 11 inches tall,160 pounds with short hair, fair complexion and clean shaven. he was last seen wearing a navy blue polo shirt, black jeans, light gray tennis shoes and a baseball hat.

the contra costa county district attorney's office filing charges against a man accused of attempted to kidnap a child and lafayette. the incident happened last month behind the lofty and public library. 57 year-old ralph watching wall street this is a shows all three indexes transient--is a transient who frequented the area. he is accused of trying to grab a child while walking down the street. investigators say, the child's mother intervened in preventing the kidnapping. the child was not injured. grohs is charged with attempted kidnapping. he is being held in county jail and is due in court for a preliminary hearing next thursday.

a group of bay area nurses are headed to the philippines to provide some much-needed help to the victims of iphone--typhoon haiyan. here's video of the five nurses leaving sfo last night. they will be taken to areas ravaged by this super typhoon. each of the nurses from the registered response network will be in the philippines for a week. one nurse who lost loved ones and its iphones says she hopes she can see her family but try to call them would be no good. the nurses have also packed medication to make sure they stay healthy and can assist the victims in any way they can. we'll be right back.

watching wall street this morning. futures trading shows all three indexes positive right now. major u-s indexes rose to all time highs for the second day in a row yesterday-- but the gains were driven by stocks that investors tend to buy when they want to avoid risk-- such as power companies, banks, and drug makers. here's a look at the how the markets closed. the dow rose 54 points. the nasdaq added seven. and the s and p 500 added eight. opening bell today at 6:30. its fast food in a hurry.

the golden gate bridge, highway and transportation district board will discuss and possibly voting on five toll-increase options today kron 4's jackie sissel has the details jackie? officials are going to be meeting today. they will discuss all the options that are on the table and there are five options. three of them have been the bridge toll increase go up to $8 an hour. back in just a couple months ago we talked about the it toll going away but they still have $142 million. as i said, three of the options have the toe's

going up to $8 for the people who go across the bridge without fasttrack. you still get the discount if you use fasttrack but your toll will go up to $7. currently you're paying $5 right now for fasttrack, $6 if you pay by plate. the other things you have to know some is 50¢ of every dollar goes to the golden gate transit authority's and the ferry system. basically they subsidize those and that's why so much money goes to them. right now they're going to meet this morning at 10:00 a.m. to discuss the options. the one i make any final decisions. what goes through the committee process that will go back to the public to have a public hearing. as early as we can see these toll increases its able- april of next year. >>darya: that have to be away for them to give us a break but maybe had the taurus. is that the point to there? >>: i don't know if that's
