of the good samaritan who said a 20 year-old woman who jumped from the upper level of old got cold calls him during sunday's a raiders game. 61 year-old donnie navidad, at marine corps combat broke the fall of the woman who jumped 45 ft. from the third deck at the stadium. he says that he just got done taking pictures with his friends near the eternal flame when he had to spring into action. >> and the naacp and other activists are calling for stiffer charges against the four white students accused of hate crimes. the president of the university of san jose state is blaming himself for failing to take action sooner. president mohammed qayoumi pledge stood there would be an

independent investigation into hate crimes allegedly by the four students on their black roommate. his comments did little to ease the tensions with the students. >> in the meantime, the naacp is calling for the d.a. to upgrade the charges against the four suspended students. they're want them to move from misdemeanors to felonies. the d.a.'s office responded by saying that the chargers are not a reflection of the degree of racism but are rather reflection of the alleged criminal conduct. the naacp is also saying that they will be reaching out to the u.s. attorney general eric holder to see if any federal laws have been broken in this case. >> in a statement monday by jeff rosen the district attorney released a statement which says the charges would stand, as filed, for now, saying while

>> welcome back pripe.the wife f a palo alto man. who is being detained in north korea. is asking for his release. 85-year-old merrill newman has been held for a month now. lee newman says, her husband's detainment is a "misunderstanding.' she is worried about his health, and sent medicine to beijing. with hopes it can be delivered to wherever merrill is being held. lee said she is hoping her husband will be home for the holidays. >> "i would like to remind them that this is the 30th day of his detention, that we're looking forward, as a family, to being together on thanksgiving and we need to have merrill back at the head of the table for the holidays. and we ask, respectfully, for them to release him and let him come

home." >> merill newman and a traveling companion were on a 10-day organized private tour of north korea. the korean war veteran was getting ready to travel from pyongyang. to beijing, when north korean officials took him off the plane. the swedish embassy is negotiating on merrill's behalf - since the u-s has no diplomatic relationship with north korea. >> disturbing news out of japan this morning where at least one person has been infected with h-i-v from a blood transfusion. a spokesperson for the japanese red cross says that a male donor tested positive for h-i-v this month. the man also donated blood earlier this year, and two people received the blood. results for the second person have not come out yet. japan had a similar case in 2003 with one transfusion recipient testing positive. all donated blood is screened, but the tests are not foolproof, especially when the infection is in its early stages.

>> prosecutors looking at the connecticut school massacre have concluded that a motive "may never be answered conclusively." their report, released monday, found that adam lanza's mental condition caused him to be obsessed with mass murders and violent video games, including one in which players gun down students in school. lanza shot his mother to death and then slaughtered 26 people at sandy hook elementary before killing himself. >> the decision whether or not to release the 911 tapes made from sandy hook elementary after the shooting has been delayed. a connecticut superior court judge said that he will make a decision shortly. this comes out of the connecticut state freedom of information commission ordered the release of the tapes back in september. the

judge says that he needs to personally review the records before he could roll. >> congressman. trey radel. is being asked to step down by the republican party of florida. radel pleaded guilty to cocaine possession last week. acknowledging that he purchased the drug last month from an undercover police officer in washington. radel has taken a leave of absence and checked himself into a rehab. >> a top arizona official is promising to review more than six-thousand unexamined reports of child abuse. arizona state law requires that all reports phoned into a child abuse hotline be investigated. clarence carter-- the director of the department of economic security. says all reports will be investigated by january 30- first. some democrats have called on carter to resign. but republican governor jan brewer is supporting him. state police are reviewing how the mistakes occurred. >> four ohio school officials have been charged with obstructing a rape investigation involving student athletes and a 16-

year-old girl. ohio's attorney general says the long-anticipated charges offer the community a chance to begin putting the case behind it. the investigation included crimes committed in connection with a case against two members of the celebrated steu-ben-ville high school football team as well as a separate alleged rape that happened in april two-thousand-12. linea black los angeles firefighter has been awarded one-point-one million dollars by a jury. after suffering racial discrimination. ja-bari jumaane says he was subjected to racial slurs and jokes during his nearly three-decade career. he says his supervisors falsified his performance evaluations. which led to suspensions and reprimands. another jury in two- thousand-7 ruled against jumaane.but an appeals court threw out the verdict. >> everyone wants to know how the weather will be shaping. here's a look at your weather. >> we are looking at dry

>> welcome back. one survey says. if want to get where you're going during the holidays on time. hawaiian airlines may be the way to go. that's according to a new list from forbsed on data from e airline website flight aware. hawaiian airlines did the best! only seven -percent of its flights were late over the last three years during the holidays. on the flip side, jet blue flights were late 22 - percent of the time. however, jetblue flies into some of the busiest airports in the country. the list is based on flight data on arrival delays for 18 major and regional airlines. >> it will soon cost you more to bring that your pet with you when you fly on southwest airlines. the airline says that it plans to raise its own boarding

new lease agreements with the o.co coliseum. the raiders' lease was extended through the end of the 2014-15 season. the a's were signed up through december 2015. the coliseum joint powers authority says the raiders will pay $400,000 in 2014. the a's will pay $1.75 million each of the two years of the extension. the lease deals now go before oakland and alameda county officials for approval. the coliseum authority says it plans to continue working on a long-term deal to retain both teams. the a's have made no secret of their desire to leave for san jose. >> we will continue after the break.
