crowd. try to turn this into a big shopping day, some stores are offering bake after christmas and discounts, especially on clothes. some of them only have limited sales and to try to bring in customers. once again, we asked people why their shopping so>> you have stores opened. >> i come on, we have to get our coffee. we go and marched to the mall. >> i shot a lot on the line. but this way and you have deals like this, they opened early, you know it will hardly anyone there that is the best time to go. >> we are headed to the livermore outlets and will keep track of the crowd a beer. they're offering

discounts up to 70% off at khols. best buy and macy's are set to open up a few minutes. some people will be returning some of their christmas presents that they have no interest in. they do say that people should check the return policy because certain items cannot be returned. >> do you have any gifts to return the sure mike? >> no. i have not seen people come back and would guess so far, i have only seen people leave with vexed. >>bags. >> santa's sleigh didn't

make it in time for christmas for some people this year because of shipping problems at ups and fed-ex. the delays were blamed on poor weather earlier in the week. as well as overloaded systems. neither company said how many packages were delayed.but said it was a small percentage of overall u-p-s did not make any pick- ups or deliveries yesterday, but they plan to resume normal service today. this all has had an impact on companies too. amazon alerted customers to what it called a "failure in the u-p-s transportation amazon is offering to refund shipping charges and give out 20-dollar gift cards. >> firefighters in san francisco spent part of their christmas night battling a two alarm fire near golden gate park. take a look at the video. crews were called to the fire on baker street just

before 9 o clock last night. two people were injured in the blaze at a three-story victorian building. two others were displaced. >> at this time, a lot of this lead of the liquid. we did a great job and hopefully these people will be okay. >> i have lived here for 15 years there were a lot >> it looks like this has fell through. it is pretty sad. maligned >> the conditions of the two people injured are not known this morning. firefighters stayed at the scene last night checking for any flare-ups. >> the family of jahi mcmath, the teen girl declared brain dead after a tonsillectomy, is going to discuss their next move today. they could decide whether or not to appeal a judge's decision allowing children's hospital oakland to remove jahi from life support.

the judge issued the ruling tuesday, but gave the family until 5 p-m on december 30th to file an appeal. jahi's family says they believe she is still alive. they spent the christmas holiday at jahi's bedside. with a christmas tree and presents for her and her siblings. >> while many this holiday opened gifts and spent time with families and friends, one family in livermore spent their first christmas without their daughter. 21-year-old kristina chesterman - an aspiring nursing student - was killed in september by a drunk driver in chico. the family continues to struggle with her death, but kristina gave the gift of life this christmas. last night, family and friends remembered christina and the organs she donated to save another life. her parents talked about spending this christmas without her. >> i think about the memories, the times that we shared with her. that helps

[ male announcer ] connect all your wi-fi-enabled devices with u-verse high speed internet. rethink possible. and 6:15 a.m.. thousands of people hit by a recent ice storm in the midwest and east coast may not get power back on for another day. tens of thousands of homes in michigan and maine have been without electricity since saturday. the storm is also being blamed for at least 27 deaths in the u-s and canada. the conditions could worsen as more snow is expected to fall, keeping ice from melting off power lines and tree branches, posing new risks for outages.

better and i checked with the chp. they have been zero incidents on the freeway. they are having a quiet morning and that means that it is an easy ride wherever you are headed. all the bridges are looking great. here's a live look at the bay bridge. there are no delays through the macarthur mayes. light traffic coming from the nimitz out of the macarthur mayes. the san mateo bridge is also looking good. >> the east bay right you can see why there are such low numbers. it is 16 minutes for hercules to berkeley. there are no delays to the caldecott tunnel. the san ramon valley ride is looking good. it is clear all the way down to dublin. it is a little slowing in the westbound direction, it is much lighter than usual. the south bay freeway is still looking fine with no delays. >> the drive time is running

matched by another hundred >> a homeless center in san francisco has closed its doors, leaving young people with one less place to go for help. the "homeless youth alliance" in the city's haight ashbury neighborhood provides much-needed medical services and counseling for thousands of homeless youth. the non-profit group has to leave its space because the building needs seismic retrofitting. they also could not raise the millions of dollars needed to re-locate. and despite pleas and a petition to stay, the alliance closed for good >> we have been here for 12 years. a lot of people lives have been changed. >> and the children that come through here--they are losing a place. they could just come here and relax. they can have someone to talk to and a meal. >> there is some good news.

with no official place to call home, organizers hope to set up a mobile unit to continue to help homeless youth in the city. >> a superior court judge is expected to hear arguments today on two separate bids aimed at keeping the city college of san francisco accredited. two injunction requests were submitted by city attorney dennis herrera and the california federation of teachers union. city college faces losing its accreditation after an order by the " accrediting commission for community and junior colleges". herrera and the union filed lawsuits to challenge the commission's decision. if the order is not blocked, the college loses accreditation at the end of july next year. the lawsuits contend the commission's procedures violated the state's unfair competition law, which bans unfair business practices. >> new details this morning about the hepatitis a warning for customers of a north beach restaurant: you can get a pre-emptive
