ornaments to massage chairs but there were also plenty of people exchanging unwanted gifts. >> i had the shoes and they did not fit right so i am taking these the back. >> i had to take these back as well. >> not really my style but to pretend like".you like them" >> catherine: people were also spending their gift cards. and if you're interested in the deals - most will continue through the weekend. >> catherine: grant? >> reporter:no presents for some.presenting ups with a damage control situation. ups is alologizing today after thousand of people did not get packages delivered in time for christmas. leaving many without presents unde the tree. and now a connecticut refund people who didn't get their packages.

>> reporter: this is jacksonville's florida. five people have been arrested after a christmas melee in a movie theater parking lot in florida. >> reporter:authorities say it started after a group of young adults rushed the building and tried to force their way inside. >> reporter:an officer used pepper spray on the group and they left. at the same time, they say a fight started outside the theater and grew to a large brawl involving about 600 teenagers fighting and jumping on cars. there were no serious injuries reported. the five people arrested are all under the age of 20 and now facing misdemeanor charges. >> catherine: still ahead. confusing and messy. that's how some people are describing obama-care. now -- there are more changes you need to know about. >> catherine: then -- as the year comes to a close. we'll take a look back at some of the biggest stories of the year.

reporter miguel marquez has s details. >> reporter: black mercedes it lost control on the 405 freeway in los angeles harder to believe the man who was driving survived. it was just a matter of seconds. another 10 15 seconds there would have been just too much fire. seconds to rescue the 72 year old man whose car burst into flames after smashing into the center divider. >>i reached in there and fumbled a bit more. thank goodness i found that button and popped the belt and grabbed him and pulled him out. >> reporter:adding to the miracle don thompson - a 26 year veteran of the lapd bomb squad happened to be on his way to work his shift started early. diving into the flames. pulling the driver to safety. >>i'm just kind of singed

face the death penalty. >> catherine: firefighters in southern california are making progress in a wildfire near simi valley in ventura county. it started in a dry, brushy area on christmas night. the winds calmed early today - and that allowed crews to limit the fire area to 10 acres. it's now 80 percent contained. the fire is in an area with a history of fires which have threatened homes and other buildings. >> catherine: it seems that every day there's another change to the obama-care system. here's what you need to know in california. you have to sign up for coverage by january second *if you want your new insurance to kick in for this january. >> catherine: if you don't make that deadline -- then there's a more important one on march 31-st. miss that one -- and you pay a fine. erin mcpike has the latest on the deadline -- which keeps getting delayed. >> catherine: here's the bottom line: it's not too late to enroll for coverage under the affordable care act. in fact, according to the department of health and human services, you still have ninety-five days to get coverage. open enrollment ends march
