clearing. north 101 at the split a nice ride on the peninsula. no problems in the north bay. a full traffic check in a bit. back to you. we have details about a story we told you at 4:00 this morning. the mother hit by a car carrying her baby across the roadway has died from her injuries. investigators say that the 19 year old was with another teen and holding her 3 month old son as they crossed the street before 10 p.m. last night. the man was southbound and hit all three of them. the mother and child were take tonight hospital where she later died. the child has life threatening injuries. the 17 year old was hit but not badly injured. police are looking for witnesses to help with the crash and find out more details what caused the accident. and new details in a deadly crash overnight. the ramp to 580 is now back

hope this morning. but this is the scene a few hours ago around 2:30. and police don't know what caused the crash but the woman lost control of the suv and crashed t landed on its top and she was trapped beneath it. the coroner pronounced her dead at the scene. police have not released her name. in san francisco a developing story that we are following, a car hit a family killing one child this new year's eve in the tenderloin district at 8:00 last night t hit a mother and children at polk and ellis a little girl died at the scene. her mother and brother were taken to the hospital. the mother is in critical condition. you can see that police officers with their tape out there. they are conducting an investigation. one of the cars involved in the accident. no word on the condition of the

little boy. drugs and alcohol are not considered a factor. and police will be looking into the morning for impaired drivers and with us a picture that i snapped on the way to work. and always at work. i was heading in. as you can see the suv on its side at the larkin. for whatever reason they don't know the but the driver lost control. it got on its side. the police officers pulled the driver out. he was not seriously injured. they conduct ed a filed so briety test and they determined he was driving under the influence. he was arrested on the spot. áeufplt and in other bay area news, the battle over the future care for 13-year-old jame jame is continuing between children's hospital oakland and her family. they got a wish and the hospital is fighting against another opponent. the family says they have enough donations, facility that will take her and a ambulance

to transport her but children's hospital, they say, is holding them back. >> they are setting up roadblocks every road we try to go do to save here. >> she needs to have a tube inserted toker moved. but the hospital has received to put one in saying they don't operate on the dead. a family lawyer says that the only option may to be move her with the tube she has now. the problem is when they move it out, the risk of her death rises more because you have to use the tube they have now which is more fragile. because it has be in for so long. >> and due to the ramifications for declaring the dead individual, the hospital says it will cooperate with a facility that will take care of the deceased body. they have not heard from any

information. and firefighters welcoming in the new year on top of mount hamilton taking out hot spots and stopping flare-ups. that fire started when one torched two stolen cars and the flames spread to the landscape all over the area there. and the cars were stolen from san jose but never reported. once the firefighters and the police officers came out there. they ran a check of the cars and realized they were stolen 467890 acres burned but firefighters say it was not too bad. they have it under containment this morning. and most of the country ringing in the new year. and video here, this is the firefighters over the embarcadero and the city looking nice. we had video of santa monica and watch the balance drop in new york city overnight as well. this year is the santa monica pier. you can see that everything was lit up and see the ferris wheel

care reform is under the affordable care act. it kicks in. and more than 2 million people have signed in. in order to have coverage today they must have paid the premiums. and all americans must have coverage. the law guarantee nos one can be denied coverage for the preexisting conditions and equal rates for men and women. the administration hopes to have 7 million enrolled by the end of march. bishops are asking for an exemption. and the supreme court has agreed to review provisions in the affordable care act requiring employers to offer coverage for birth control without a co-pay. and catholic organizations have taken wish that requirement. and the conference of bishops has sent a letter to the president t asks that religious

good morning. happy new year. light and quiet out there. >> you from getting ready to hit the road. this is a nice and smooth all morning. so far no change in the pattern. and 580 is great coming from the maze and the east shore checking in trouble free. again up to the pay gate as smooth ride all the way across the upper deck into downtown. no problems for the south bay. we started off with the problem at north 101. that is out of the way. and traffic is moving well throughout the north bay. if you are hopping on bart you will have to pay more. starting today the hike is expected to average 19 cents per ride. and it will have pay for a train cars. control system. and improvements to a maintenance facility that will support future expansion to the south bay.

conditions where the temperatures are in the 20s. and the coldest spots on the map here 26 and 29 degrees now along the delta. mid-to-upper 30s. by later on today into the afternoon. we'll see highs in the 60s. we starting off with poor air quality. sunnyvale in fairfield and 64 in san rafael. and tonight a few light showers. breezy by the bay but the temperatures are mild in the 40s. and 590s. similar to yesterday. let's look ahead and talk about sunday. the playoff games are important. and niners head to lambeau field. kickoff at 1:40. they're lucky if see see a temperature of 10. we don't have snow to talk about. that's difficult to play in.
