needed because they have no legal obligation to operate on the body of a dead person. a deadly new year's eve in san francisco's tenderloin district as a six-year-old girl -- sophia liu -- is killed when a driver hits her in the crosswalk. that driver -- works for uber, but was not on duty at the time. the driver is syed muzafar -- a 57-year-old man from union city. muzafar was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence. and is currently free on bond. freezing start this weekend the road to the super bowl for the 49ers gets off to a freezing start this week ending green bay. kron 4's mike pelton is in wisconsin ahead of the team this morning getting a feel for just how cold things are there. and just how

welcome back authorities in san francisco are investigating an arson attack at the chinese consulate. no one was injured, but the building was heavily damaged. and as kron four's charles clifford reports.the f-b-i is now leading the investigation. according to the chinese consulate in san francisco around 935 wednesday evening, someone threw two buckets of gasoline on the front door of the building and this set it on fire. no one was injured but the flames heavily damaged exterior double doors of the conflict as well as the exterior walls. there was other-also smoke damage inside the building. thursday afternoon the fbi announced they were launching a full investigation into the attack. they're working with the cooperation of sanford's as the police department as well as diplomatic security. they said they have also

collected evidence but will not reveal specific information of what they found nor did they say anything about a possible suspect or suspects. it is said the attack appears to be an isolated incident. >>: this appears to be more likely a criminal matter of hopes to a security measure. if the changes we election know immediately. the chinese consulate is also cooperating with the investigation. they have also asked that every effort be made to protect the consulate and the diplomats who work here. and san francisco charles clifford kron 4 news.

community. officials say for now consumers should just notify a man who graduated law school and passed the bar exam while living in the u-s illegally. *will be able to practice law here in california. the state supreme court granted a law license to sergio garcia yesterday. he challenged a law that wouldn't allow undocumented immigrants to earn professional licenses from government agencies. garcia arrived in the u-s illegally 20-years ago to pick almonds. he worked in orchards and fields and at a grocery store while studying to become a lawyer. 2014 is shaping up to be a huge year in technology our tech reporter gabe slate gives us a look at what big things are coming our way. 2014 will be a big year for google. coming up after the break. we will have details.

very successful with the bigger screens there is a lot of people who want to see a 5 inch iphone. speaking of phones lg will make a big splash in 2014 with their android phone the g=flex it's the world's first smart=phone to feature a flexible and curved display. the phone bends when pressure is put on it protecting it from some types of damage and the curved screen is said to enhance the visual experience when watching videos on the device. the lg g-flex is expected to hit the market this spring. and you expect 2014 to be the year of same day actually going to a store to buy something after 2014 might be weird ebay, google, amazon, and instacart all offer same day delivery services in the bay they shop with almost all the major stores. these are affordable, extremely convienient, and they work very well. the only problem is no one knows about it so we'll see what happens in 2014

school's accreditation. all this is good news for students and college it doesn't change the fact that the school could still lose its accreditation later this year. kron4's j.r. stone has more. >>: it's a cherished institution and as long as i'm city attorney we will make sure it continues to serve the people of san francisco. >>: the battle of accreditation of work city college and san francisco is heating up through the george ruled thursday that accreditation at the school will not be revoked until there is a trial. >>: i don't think we would have seen that motion granted if there were arguments carried a lot of ways. >>: the accreditation committee for a junior college as a pair ruled that it would be a revolt over how the college was being run for it lawyers argue the recommendations given to the college were not addressed. at san francisco city attorney says that is hardly the case. >>:, there have been funded

two strikes, contract ratifications a disputed bart board vote and a lawsuit the bart district board of directors has approved a compromise contract. the contract does not include the controversial six weeks of pay for family medical leave. but bart workers will be getting improvements to a variety of provisions including those dealing with bereavement family medical leave and training. . also a provision giving giving employees a one time bonus of bart rider should increase was revised. the new contract does not exceed the $67 million that was in the previous agreement. if fire in santa rosa wednesday night destroyed parts of the and the lopez memorial site. fire officials said the flames burned less than a third of the alter display. there is an investigation into what caused the fire and if any

with erica. >>erica: the morning everyone happy friday. san francisco holding on. to check out santa rosa. still hovering above the freezing mark. keep in my we haven't hit our morning walls that just blows. at the averages will continue to drop beginning at sunrise. in terms of temperatures it's going to be a lot like yesterday. looking at the possibility of record- breaking highs and even along the coastline will see readings about 10 degrees warmer than where we should be for this time of year. as we head into the afternoon check out these numbers. temperatures man and the mid-60s to the san ramon valley. the 60 degrees and

arrested. >>: this man who we will call antoine is living much better nowadays. he and his family feel safe now but that was not always the case. wheat first about his story back in october. and to set up a surveillance camera when he was fed up with burglars and his community he was able to catch can't pictures of two burglars inside his home however he said nothing was done. on december 23rd vallejo police arrested two men and 20 year-old james a brisker and 19 year-old j. mahon at mathews. investigators say these two are connected to several armed robberies in the area and police say brisker has also been charged with attempted murder for a shooting that happened back on december 8th. that should been left a 22 year-old man in a coma. antoine believes that these are the same to

parts of the north east are under blizzard warnings. winter storms have affected about 100-million people across 22-states this week. with weather battering the midwest and northeast, more cancellations and delays are expected today at s=f=o. and many airports around the country are shutdown or have long lines at check ins due to the storm. boston's logan airport is not expected to reopen until ate this afternoon. while many passengers experience long waits at newark's j-f-k due to poor visibility and deicing of planes yesterday. many passengers we talked to at s-f-o say they just want get home from their holiday pit sahelcut down justine's pkg. travel is expected to be worse today with the weather battering the midwest and northeast, it's affecting air travel

as far north as boston. if you're traveling anywhere on the eastern seaboard. you should be aware that there will be an extreme. not only how delays but cancellations. almost 1500 cancellations already today and that's on top of the over 2000 every canceled yesterday. many more are going to be delayed so if you're traveling today anywhere across the but specifically in the east coast he should be aware of that contact your carrier. get a hold of them and figure out if it's even going to happen or not. yesterday we started to see flights be proactively canceled. we may see much of the same today. airlines just understanding there's no way they're going to be able to get all those flights in and out of those impact it airports. will be here all morning long. check in with travelers three people getting to where they need to be. obviously is going to have a huge impact on travel today.
