in green bay. no where near that here. >> we have that off shore wind and the higher elevations. >> and 25 degrees there. and 47 degrees about mid30s. we'll have more in a moment. >> thank you. a man is in jail for kidnapping a girl. david douglas graped -- grabbed the girl in front of her home the suspect was arrested hours after the alert was broadcast.

they are asking that the privacy be respected. there were a number of family and friends that showed up to share in the joy. they arrested david douglas for arresting the girl in front of her home. an alert was issued when she went missing. the child and mother pulled up to the driveway on the 3800 block of hummingbird drive after shopping. douglas followed them home in his 1990 camary. he grabbed the girl and took off. the police department followed up on leads and confirmed that he was the suspect. it was spotted in a parking lot. douglas and the victim were inside the car at the time they approached the vehicle. he was arrested and natalie, who was not injured, was reunited with her family.

>> douglas' home is away from the wal-mart and the victim's house. we spoke with neighbors that saw him regularly, they were shocked to hear of his arrest in the case. three lanes of i-280 were closed due to a deadly crash. the chp says a vehicle split in half was found after four a.m. we have information about a murder in 2010. police arrest ed a suspect wanted in connection with the the shooting of a tourist in san francisco. and it led to the arrest. and 6 others have been investigated after a shooting.

two teens were struck by bullets but survived. friends and family have set up a fundraiser for a 19 year old who was struck and killed walking in fremont. the woman was holding her son when she was struck by a car. they were walking at 10 p.m. in the evening. this morning police say her son remains at the hospital in the man is cooperating with the investigators. he is not suspected of dui a fundraiser has been set up by give forward to collect funds for her burial and other costs.

an investigation is underway regarding a crash. it was on the embarcadero and it was closed after a semi pulled in front of the vehicle. the trolly and the rig crash happened near bay street. one of the passengers had to pry his wife free. >> we were in the front seat, my wife was pinned between the railing and the seat and screening in pain. we removed the seat and got her out. >> the four injured were the only people on board the trolly at the time. it was reopened to traffic by saturday afternoon. still ahead on the news weekend. break out the winter coats. it will be cold all over the country. how people are preparing for the freezing temperatures and how travel could be affected.

three passengers on a plane suffered minor injuries on saturday. they had to make an emergency landing on a new york city highway. that was cell phone video. they were returning to connecticut after a tour around the statue of liberty when the engine failed. it came down through the trees and workers sprang into action. >> we started slowing down the traffic so nobody was hurt and the plane is not hit by the cars. >> the passengers on the plane walked away with only minor injuries they were quick to

rescuers are on the way to help trapped workers. an ice breaker will leave for the south pole today. they fear the ships can not free themselves. the russian research ship has been trapped in ice since christmas eve. the chinese ship went and it was stuck on friday.

we have the story. >> gary bullock had already confronted law enforcement twice, got arrested. spent eight hours in jail all in less than a day before he was the suspect in the murder of a priest father eric freed. arrested for public intoxication during the day of new year's eve, he had to be taken away for a high heart rate. he act up at the hospital and had to be physically restrained by the deputies before being taken back to jail. records show that he was already on probation for cocaine possession, a spokesperson for the sheriff says that the department was not required to hold him until a judge reviewed the case so he was let go. he only had to walk three blocks to the church where he was described as making strange noises.

a guard called police who did not know the details of the problems that he had at the county jail. >> they saw he was released on a public intoxication charge after being held. >> officers decided that he was not doing anything illegal and did not qualify for an emergency psychological hold. >> they asked him specific questions about himself. he asked for housing, he asked for a place to stay for the night. >> so they didn't arrest him. instead they directed him to a nearby shelter and watched him walk away. they now say he never went to the shelter and was spotted shortly back at the church. this time police aren't called. >> and police say that a guard at the church found a person matching the description on the premises and told him to leave. later the priest's body was discovered. police say that he suffered blunt force trauma.
